Its now one of three and probably soon to be four, as development on another site on Oxford Street seems to indicate, yet another Japanese Restaurant. Sushi Mura is not Japanese/Chinese fusion like Yum Yum Gyoza House, and has a wide selection of dishes you would typically find at a Japanese restaurant on their menu. From Sushi through to mixed sushi boxes, Salads, Japanese U-don soups, various Curries and of course Teriyaki options. There's room for dining-in and inside (which is larger than Yum Yum Gyoza House) there's an aesthetically calm feel to the space. Simple low hanging pendant lights and the natural colours of the wooden floors (& matching tables), and with the use of black chairs giving form and definition. The service is friendly and full of smiles. Always wins points with me. The food can't really be faulted either. I like Japanese food. I am a fan of their Teriyaki chicken bento box, which comes standard with rice, miso soup and salad. The spring rolls and calamari were great too. In terms of pricing, its not too bad, and yes I do think its "value-for-money". However, If I had to compare Sushi Mura to Yum Yum Gyoza House, the latter slightly wins on this criteria. All-in-all, Bulimbarians and east-siders in general should feel lucky they are spoilt for choice when it comes to Japanese cuisine.

The green tea flows freely and the best part is if you sit there long enough you'll see everyone on the street pass by, or, if you're in a hurry to grab a quick bite before the movies, you only have to walk about 25 steps to the theatre next door!

Since the fit-out a few years ago this place has taken on a slightly more "put together" feel. The dark wood adds a nice touch to the interior, but it still feels very squeezy if you're situated in a single chair at the train on either end of the booths. The food is simple, standard "child friendly" sushi and sashimi along with gyoza, chicken strips, prawn parcels, spring rolls and various desserts including jelly cups. I nearly always request a couple of fresh hand rolls and I am always impressed with the thick cut salmon and creamy japanese mayonnaise. The drink selection is small and they offer free ice cold water. Service is fast and friendly so even if they are full to bursting you will only be waiting a short time to secure a spot.

I was hesitant to try out Fresh Sushi Co. because I am quite critical about Japanese food, especially when it comes to raw fish, but I decided that the displays looked fresh and it looked popular enough to give it a go. I ordered the Half Sushi Moriawashi, at plate of five nigiri and an ikura battleship. The sashimi was fresh, for the most part, though the shrimp gave me a slight reaction, which doesn't usually happen with the freshest of fish and seafood. I was a bit dismayed, but overall, the fish were fresh, and the ginger was tender and not sinewy ("old" - as they say). The price isn't cheap for a fast food-like setting, as their chirashi is 33AUD for a bowl, but it looks like it would be super delicious! Alas, I will wait until I visit home...

We ordered the staples- sashimi, tempura - both of which were delectable. I am a Salmon snob and I will say the sashimi is the best that I have had in Brisbane- like butter! We also ordered a fish co soup which was delicious. Everything was very fresh and the cooking demonstrations on the TVs provided some paella inspiration:) A bit pricy, but good value for $$

It's a little too expensive to eat here all the time - and if you see my review on Sushi Central in Redcliffe - there's awesome sushi other places for a much better price. I recently ate dinner here and ordered a Ginga Bento box. I fully recommend this option if you want to try a bit of everything or you're unsure what to order. This particular bento comes with some dim sum (prawn dumplings and spring rolls), a delicious salad, some tempura vegetables and prawn, and excellent teriyaki chicken with rice. OH! And amazing miso soup that I could have happily had another bowl of. They also serve a few varieties of sake, Japanese beer, and plum wine if you like to have a couple of drinks with your meal.

Although the salmon was fresh, the mackerel and squid were not so much. The latter was a bit slimy and didn't have the crisp bite that fresh squid should have.
