The restaurant has only a few tables and few spots at the bar, however, even though they are always full it never happened that we wouldn't find a spot. The staff is very friendly and always tries to accommodate everyone. There's also one communal table and a small terrace. During the week they are offering lunch menus for 13€ which includes a starter and a main. The starter in this case is half the size of a normal starter but the menu is still a good value for the money. As they tend to get very busy during the lunch times I'd recommend making a reservation if you're more than 2 people. I might say I tried most of their menu and after trying it I decided to stick to my favorites - the starters. There are a few great mains like the grilled salmon (Shake Teppanyaki) which is very juicy, marinated just the right amount and seared very shortly, or the seared beef steak (Suteki Teppanyaki). Both dishes come with rice and a salad on the side. However, the other mains I found a bit dull. This is also the reason I'm giving them a 4 star and not a 5. But the reason I keep coming back are the starters, their Sushi's and Maki's. My all time favorites are: - Gyoza which are stuffed with chicken and Japanese vegetables. The down side is that they provide only the so sauce (sweet or salty) but not the gyoza sauce. - Chikin Nagetto which are pieces of the chicken tighs breaded in sweet and a bit sour mix. The meat is not dry at all, on the contrary very juicy. - The salmon salad (Shake no Sarada) is the version of the grilled salmon but smaller then a main and with more salad (no rice). - Nikko California roll which have the salmon and fresh cheese on the inside and very thin layer of avocado and salmon on the outside layer topped with fish eggs. Top it off the chef is Nepalese (not that this matters really, but secret racism is a thing), it's in a dingy looking bar on the harbor, and it's open 7 days a week late, these would have been red flags. But this is where the local restaurant folks eat (even the 3 Michelin ones literally across the water) go on their days off. The chef understands Edo sushi and I watched him cringe when less educated customers wanted more soy sauce on the side. The kicker? The grill guy who does the Izakaya dishes works at De Librijie the 3 star Michelin place in the Netherlands. He does this on his off days just because he loves cooking. Owners are super cool, brew their own beer across the eaters and also have an excellent wine list. It's just the craziest place. Oh and I almost forgot they have two rooms upstairs should you want to stay in the area. It's just the confluence of so many unexpected but awesome things. Always interesting to see when someone takes a tradition and interprets it to their local seafood/produce . The prices are somewhat steep but everything is top notch, always fresh and impeccably prepared. It may seem somewhat intimidating to try to figure out what everything is, but I have always found the staff to be extremely helpful in this regard. So, let me say that I've been to this place at least 30x and I've probably eaten every item of sashimi, nigiri, and half of the rolls. I still go back. It's cheap. And you can drink Stella for 2 euros while you fill your gullet with fresh fish for 5. No kidding. The à la carte is cheap. They can be really busy some weekends, so reserve a place, or prepare to wait. Oh and the people are super nice, despite the busy scene.
