This was so horrible that I was motivated to stop eating in the middle of my so called meal, add this location to Yelp, and post this comment. I had sushi delivered, but it was prepared at the r. de Bretagne branch of Sushi Shop so my review is for that location. On the rare occasion that I get sushi in Paris, I am mentally prepared for it not to be as good as what I have eaten on the west coasts of the US and Canada (I have never had the luck to eat sushi in Japan) but this is a new low.
First of all, the quality/price ratio is way off. We ordered a crab and avocado roll. There were six pieces all on the small side, but not a deal breaker. However, the last piece contained no crab and no avocado, just rice and nori collapsed in on itself. The avocado was so un-ripe that it was crunchy. We could not eat the rest of the roll.
The chirachi of saumon was OK, although the slices of fish were so thin that we could have seen through them. Still, it tasted fresh. Time will tell...
The uni (oursin) tarama - ugh. I blame this on myself, not a problem on the part of Sushi Shop. I love uni, and was hoping against hope... this was not uni. It is entirely different and tastes like fish egg flavored buttercream. Not bad on a blini, maybe, but in my opinion horrible when made into sushi. Again, I chalk this up to my own ignorance about tarama.
On the plus side, the delivery was quick and the interaction pleasant. read more
