Kiko was our sushi chef at the bar, friendly and skilled, we ate our fill for lunch! This was our first time at this location but we had been to their sister location in Reno. Everything was delicious and the service was quick!

Really enjoyed the sushi selection. We opted for the lunch AYCE buffet which excluded some specialty rolls. Dinner AYCE buffet gives you the full menu but Lunch satisfied us. We got there close to opening and there were folks at the sushi bar, and 2 other tables seated. They have slips for you to fill out and no limit to how many to order. We selected majority of our meal during the first round. Overall it was great, service was quick but I'm not sure if their system would work if there were more patrons. Our waitress was nice to prepare a huge dessert for my husband's birthday! She was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come back the next time we are in South Lake Tahoe.

Not sure what all of the fuss is about on their recent reviews for multiple one stars. I was on a mission to check them out again, it's been one year since my dad and I went in November 2024, where we had a lovely experience. Since this is the only all you can eat sushi restaurant in South Lake Tahoe, we knew this is where we wanted to go on this Tuesday night. We got there early to check out the casino that is connected to the restaurant and so we walked in shortly after 5 o'clock. We chose our seat at the bar, which is the best place to sit, in my opinion. Especially if you want great service, I recommend getting to know your sushi chef. We had the pleasure of meeting Francisco and I think he told us his nickname is Kiko. I started off by washing my hands in the bathroom, which was extremely clean and spotless so to my surprise, I thought, wow clean is a good sign. To make this short and sweet we ordered amazing Nigiri a couple of appetizers, buy one get one free house sake, and we only shared two long rolls because we filled up quickly. My only complaint was that I couldn't find anyone to fill up my water until the very end so Francisco filled it up for me. Sushi makes me thirsty! All in all we had a four star experience and I'll keep it at that for now.

    Tilapia not red snapper

Let me get it started. $45 per person is a joke. my daughter is 9 year old and they don't care 45$. 1 server is nice only one that speak English. It's OK we're cool with that. Sit down for about 15 minutes and severe come by. We asked for miso soup and appetizer. Soup was using salt water, salty as hell we asked for hot water to put them in. Here comes the food. I took a couple pictures just go ahead and look at it. They say we have to finish all the rice that is on the rolls. And sushi. So I ordered red snapper and they gave me tilapia. I told him it's tilapia. It's not red snapper and they looking at me like I'm crazy.. I'm a Sushi Chef. I know what I'm ordering. It was horrible. The guy look at me curse in Spanish like I'm stupid.. I've been there about 2-3 years ago was a lot better than now. Take your money somewhere else... 145$ +20 tips 165$ it's a joke

    Really salty miso soup.

The food here was okay. Not the best, not the worst. Some items like the stuffed deep fried squid and upside down crab were pretty good. I didn't like that the nigiri and hand rolls had way too much rice. There was so much rice, we didn't even bother ordering sushi rolls and we did the AYCE. The rice was also hard. Kids' price for AYCE is the same as adults. For that, I am docking a star. They do have a kids menu to order separately from, but the fact that my two year old only took 4 bites of his food, it would have been nice to have the 3 and under eat free option. This is the first AYCE restaurant I've been to that doesn't have that. I ordered the miso soup and it was very salty. The quail egg shooters were also salty. I ordered the house salad thinking it was going to be made with green spring mix and a delicious sauce like other sushi restaurants. Instead, it was cabbage with a mayonnaise dressing which I did not like. Customer service was good and the waitress came over often. It's a decent and quiet little restaurant. Were I to come here again, I would skip the salmon and tuna hand rolls because they were simple and bland with tones of rice.

    Dirty dish

Surprise fee. Dirty dish. Poor food quality. I was pretty sad about this experience. I had come here in 2019 when my son was an infant, and today I was trying to recreate a good memory. Even my son, who is now 7, wasn't happy with this place. Food prices don't match the quality, the grocery store has better sushi without hidden fees and tip pressure. I won't return again. Even the staff seemed unhappy and burned out, likely because they have to deal with unhappy customers all day. I know that it's not their fault and this is just a business going downhill. Lastly, the iconic sticker wall that was at the entrance is gone. I've worked in a fast casual sushi restaurant. I have a decent understanding of what sushi restaurant etiquette should be. This restaurant is an overall disappointment and waste of my money. As a single mother going out to eat is a rare and special occasion. This bad experience was hurtful.

Ask the Community - Sushi Pier Tahoe

Are there appetizers and other food included in the AYCE?

Yes. Appetizers and desserts as well.

If only a few people in your party want AYCE can others just order individual rolls or does everyone have to get AYCE?

Each customer may order AYCE or individual rolls as they would prefer. We ask that customers participating in the AYCE do not share their items with those ordering individually. Thank you!

Do they still serve AYCE sushi?

Yes they do, both for lunch and dinner, very limited seating right now so plan ob a bit of a wait

Difference between lunch or dinner AYCE?

All the same deal, not sure if night prices are different but we've been at lunch and dinner and their sushi is SUPERB. Service is great, staff is nice, food is outstanding !!!

How long is wait for dinner?

Unless you are in during off-hours or off-season, there is always a wait here but it is worth it <3

We waited for over an hour and still received none of our food. Meanwhile, three white parties who arrived after us were served their food and multiple dishes before we received anything. We repeatedly asked our server about our order, and she kept insisting that it was coming, but nothing ever arrived. The sushi chef appeared dismissive, gave us rude looks, and seemed unwilling to acknowledge us or prepare our food. After watching several parties who arrived later receive prompt service while we continued to be ignored, we genuinely felt that we were being treated differently because we are Hispanic. No customer should ever be made to feel this way because of their race or ethnicity. The entire experience was disrespectful and completely unacceptable. We will not be returning.

This is bespoke Japanese with a modern twist and it absolutely delivers on that promise. We are talking caviar, thoughtfully composed dishes, and the kind of attention to detail you'd expect from a serious city restaurant. The fact that it exists in Tahoe at all is kind of wild and I am so here for it. The space is incredibly intimate, which honestly adds to the whole experience because everything feels very intentional and personal. That said, you absolutely need to snag a reservation early because this place is tiny and I imagine it fills up fast and for good reason. I also thought it was really cool that they source fish from Japan every couple of days. That definitely shows the level of quality they're going for. Only small thing for me was that it got a little smoky at times, and the wine tasted slightly old, although my server confirmed the bottle had been opened recently. I had to stop the flooding myself, getting soaked in dirty water contaminated with urine and feces. Reaching anyone for help was nearly impossible--the front desk and operator didn't answer, and housekeeping took 10 minutes to pick up. After engineering temporarily repaired the toilet that was on its way out, housekeeping barely cleaned the bathroom. They wiped up the visible mess with towels but never mopped or disinfected the area, despite us traveling with children and a baby. I went down to speak with the front desk manager, Kayla Smith at 5:00 a.m. after losing an entire night's sleep, the only compensation she offered was some resort credit. I asked for a late checkout so we could at least get some rest, but I was told the hotel was "fully booked" and couldn't accommodate the request. On a Monday, that explanation was difficult to believe and felt like an excuse rather than a genuine attempt to help. Beyond the great location, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Between the lack of responsiveness, inadequate cleanup, and poor customer service, I can't recommend staying at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are better options nearby.
