Decent take out sushi set in a fast food manner. A little pricey for how many pieces they give you, but it was tasty for what they had.

Soaring high above the city of Montreal and into the clouds at SORA 45. I stopped by this (actually…read morehidden) speakeasy since I was staying at the nearby Hotel Bonaventure, and it was definitely worth a visit! Located on the 45th floor, you can get beautiful panoramic views of the city, including of the St. Lawrence river. Highly recommend stopping by to watch the sunset transition into nighttime. Now onto their menu- I was expecting a bit more food options, but they really only have light bites/appetizers, so I'd eat elsewhere beforehand. I ordered the Wagyu brioche, which was incredible, but I wasn't as impressed with the crispy hosomaki, which was overly salty and didn't have that much dimension of flavor. The drinks were incredible and innovative though, incorporating authentic Japanese flavors and three eras of Japan's history. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and accommodating, managing to snag me a much coveted bar spot without a prior reservation.

Definitely some of the best prices and the drinks were actually really good even at that price. We went on a Sunday afternoon and weren't expecting much since I heard it's usually quiet but there was a decent crowd. The staff did a good job getting us seats within 10-15 minutes. Definitely looking forward to coming back next time we're in town.

My dad and I have eaten at this restaurant maybe 3 times now. It's a must for us anytime we're in…read moretown. This little spot opens around 5 and I recommend coming early, or expect a wait. You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

There is not a ton of seating in the restaurant. It is small and the tables are quite close together. We were a little disappointed that they ran out of salmon so we couldn't order any salmon sashimi dishes. We got skewers which were absolutely delicious! We also ordered takoyaki and okonomiyaki but there was nothing special about those. Wouldn't really recommend the okonomiyaki either. Would definitely recommend trying the Shrimp Burger and the Salmon Calcium (salmon pate).

Everything was delicious and left us wishing they would open one at home. Food presentation was lovely and all our choices were delicious. I've been hesitant about trying Konica salmon (all the food is vegan) and was delightfully suprised. The fried oyster mushrooms were perfection. We also had a beet/apple/avocado roll that was. I excellent. Dessert was their brownie which was rich, decadent and a great way to end the meal. We sat sipping our Ameretto Sours and listening to the jazz music. Our waitress was very friendly and we never felt rushed. When we come back to Montreal this is on our shortlist for returning.

You can try the tasting menu, but just know that it is chef's choice which ones you are able to try. Crispy gyoza - really thick shell and not much filling, the sauce seemed a bit too runny, would skip New Delhi - actually wild this tasted so Indian, very flavorful and pakora like Mr. Crunch Roll - favorite, standard and lived up to crunch name Brownie - while presented well, it was too dense and seemed basic, would definitely skip My gripe was with the service - not sure what took as long as it did but it took us very long to get from stage to stage. I'd try again if I ordered different options and just did sushi.
