The saying 'you get what you pay for' is most commonly used to say that something cheap is probably not very good.. Well that saying definitely applies here. I ordered the two roll combo (philadelphia roll and spicy crunchy shrimp roll) w/ miso soup for $7.95 and a grizzly roll for $8.50. Philadelphia roll - this roll had a weird taste and smell to it.. I couldn't figure out if it was the fish or cream cheese that was the reason for the smell.. I couldn't bring myself to finish the roll. Spicy crunchy shrimp roll - Please look at the picture I posted of this roll. The menu didn't explain the contents of the roll, but just from the name I assumed it would be a roll with shrimp in the middle, tempura flakes on the outside, and some kind of spicy sauce incorporated somewhere in the roll... I was somewhat right.. Except that the tempura flakes were inside the roll (why?!) and there's no way I could have predicted how little shrimp would be in the roll.. It's like they took one shrimp, cut it in half, and then cut those halves into enough small pieces to be able to call it a shrimp roll. This roll goes down as one of the worst rolls I've ever had in my life. Downright awful. Grizzly - The only roll that tasted decent. 10 big and full pieces for $8.50, you can't really beat that. I would order this again if I ever decide to come back. If you're someone that cares more about quality regardless of price then this place is not for you. If you're like me and you care more about quantity and low prices over quality then this place might be for you.. As for me, I don't think i'll ever be visiting again.

Just recently moved to the East side of Houston and it is honestly hard to find good Asian food nearby. I am so thankful to have found this place. The girlfriend really liked her yummy roll and I ordered the shaggy dog and pork tonkatsu. There was a lot more meat than I was expecting in the tonkatsu and the thicker slices were actually the juiciest. Sushi was solid. Ton katsu was good. Will be coming back here soon now that we found a good sushi spot nearby.

Deep fired Katsu. It's misspelled so you know this place is legit!!!

This is a good spot for super cheap Americanized sushi. If you set your expectations right, you can really enjoy this place. We ordered the 64 piece Sushi Dish called Ocean Garden. This includes 24 California rolls, 16 Cooked Tuna rolls, 8 tempura rolls, 8 eel rolls, and 8 "chef special roll"... all for $39.99! With all that sushi for little price, who can resist? The only catch is that the California rolls were just cheap fillers, but you get what you pay for. The rest were really good but our favorite was the Chef Special and Tempura roll. The chef special was lightly fried with cream cheese in the middle and topped with this crab meat (possibly imitation). It's not fancy or authentic, but it's so good! Oh, and forgot to mention, the order comes with four bowls of miso soup! We also ordered 8 pc of Rainbow roll for just $7.95. This was one of the few rolls that actually had cuts of raw fish (I.e. salmon and yellowtail) which was a nice change of pace from the Ocean Garden. Lastly, we ordered the Hamachi Kama, which translates to yellowtail collar (thank you Google lol). It's very flavorful and some may even argue that it's the best cut of the fish. I can definitely vouch for that! It's only $6.95 here which is a good value. If you aren't looking for fancy and authentic sushi but just something good to eat, this is your place! Just don't expect Uchi or MF. This is what the East side has to offer!

Sushi and sushi roll tasted great, service is great too. The sushi I ordered was very fast and it had a piece of seran wrap on it. I assume rolls are pre made for quick lunches. Other than that, I would recommend.

This place is very good and has great service thanks to Katherine. Also the manager was making sure people were enjoying their food. We ordered the spicy miso soup, grizzly roll, and the fancy dragon roll. It all tasted really good!!

Decent pricing with a staff that is unprofessional. The food was substandard with the salmon tasting very bad.

I had a fly fall out of a dumpling into my sesame seed soy sauce. This used to be my favorite place to eat.

Every detail was intentional, from the atmosphere to the presentation of each dish. The sushi was, without exaggeration, some of the best I've ever had. Fresh, perfectly balanced, and crafted with so much attention to flavor that every bite felt like its own experience. Even the edamame completely changed the way I think about edamame. Something so simple was transformed into something memorable. And the dessert? Absolutely spectacular. The presentation alone deserved applause, but somehow the flavor exceeded even that. It was one of those desserts you keep thinking about long after you leave. This wasn't just dinner -- it felt like an experience. Easily a 10/10, and honestly, it deserves even higher. One of those rare places that makes you excited to come back before you've even left the table. Individually rated food: * Umami - 10/10 * Shrimp Tempura - 10/10 * Fried Rice - 9/10 * Spicy Edamame - 1000/10 * Japanese Seabream (Madai?) Nigiri - 9.5/10 * Mochi (strawberry and mango) - 10/10

I hopped on the trusty Yelp app and browsed through restaurants in Pearland. I came across Nishiki…read moreJapanese Restaurant and saw that they have an extremely high Yelp rating, so that was all of the motivation I needed. I've passed by Nishiki on numerous occasions so I was overdue to check it out. I stopped by on a Saturday morning with my mom for lunch. Free parking is easy in the shopping center they share with several other businesses including a bubble tea shop. Ambiance (5/5): Nishiki is an elegant restaurant without being stuffy. The decor is fresh and modern. Pretty much the perfect ambiance in my book. Service (5/5): Our waitress did a good job taking care of us. She stopped by regularly, she was efficient, and friendly. Everything you hope for in a service experience. Drinks (5/5): Nishiki has a full bar, but I opted for a Shirley Temple. No judgment lol. I used to love Shirley Temples as a kid. Not something you see on a lot of menus these days so it was a nice surprise. Food (5/5): The chef at Nishiki used to work at Nobu. No surprise as that level of excellence is seen in the food. Their sushi is hand rolled. I had the crunch roll which has tempura shrimp, crab, and avocado. I also tried a seasonal sushi item with scallops that's different from anything I've ever tried before. It was wrapped in seaweed and there is some plastic on the outside that you pull to keep your roll together. Cool concept! We also shared some gyoza and grilled edamame. Pro tip: go with the grilled edamame rather than the regular edamame. The grilled version has garlic and some other seasoning. Edamame to the next level. The food at Nishiki isn't cheap. But the quality is there. There's a reason the reviews are so good. It's now one of my favorite restaurants in town. Up there with Killen's BBQ.
