This is honestly biggest bang for you buck and if you're smart you will come hungry! If it's your first time here you've gotta try the following: Orchard Roll White Dragon Roll Cowboy Roll Classics Sushi Rolls Hand rolls After all the sushi disappeared and I could no longer order I knew my absolute favorite rolls were the Orchard and White dragon roll. However, I won't rate this as my favorite spot because the fish wasn't as fresh and it tasted mushy in a few rolls. Also, we found crab shells inside the snow crab roll. The waitress apologized right away but management never came to apologize for the accident. But nonetheless.. food was still good but questionable on freshness. read more

I took my Mother to lunch a few weeks ago. I ordered several sushi rolls, which were off in taste; but I ate 2 out of 3. I was unable to eat the shrimp tempura roll, as the rice was very mushy. My Mother ordered the shrimp and noodles, she took a bite and did not like it as all she could taste was soy sauce. They offered her another dish. She chose the steak and vegetables and didn't like that. She said it tasted like it was left in the refrigerator cooked and uncovered and didn't want to try anything else. I asked to speak to the Manger as my Mom didn't eat and did feel I should have to pay for her meal. The waiter said the Manager would be over after he finished with another customer. Twenty minutes later four police officers were at our table., stating they were called because I refused to pay the bill. No, I asked to speak to the Manager. My 82-year-old mother was very embarrassed. I just asked to speak to a Manager. I paid the check in full and tipped the waiter. I visited last Wednesday and got the best server ever. I had him on my first visit and am thankful I had him for my most recent! The food was awesome and with him I was able to customize my order, which I have never done there before. I don't eat mushrooms so they were left off. The egg rolls that came in orders of one actually came in an order of 4 and lasted me the entire visit. The service was amazing, food, was great and I really enjoyed this visit. This was my second time being at this location and I have to say this was honestly great experience. I decided to come during the lunch hour and they had an all you can eat special. The sushi was great and the Miso soup is a good starter. Bobby, my server, was very kind and would let us know when our food was on the way and more. Textbook perfect employee to say the least. On entry we saw our hostess in conversation with a coworker. She then took our table size and left for roughly 3-4 minutes to find us a seat. (We requested a booth) When another guest arrived, though 2 front of house employees, including the hostess, came to the front both did not greet them. We were then escorted to our seat which was comfortable for 3 adults and 2 children (3 yr/o and 6yr/o) Our drink order was taken immediately and roughly 5 minutes later we received them. During that time we met our server, a younger girl who seemed like this may be her first job. She was very polite and gave us napkins, straws, forks and chopsticks. She then left for roughly 8-10 minutes before returning to take our order. It may have been her very first day because she needed to spend a good amount of time navigating the ordering tablet. That said, with time she accurately took our entire tables order. Perhaps another 8-10 minutes later several of the dishes arrived and roughly 5 minutes after that the rest arrived all at once. All of the food was excellent. The clear soup warmed the soul with a deep and rich flavor. The beef gyoza dumplings were hot but not molten, with a soft body and crisp edge. The yakitori chicken skewers were equally warm and were very tender and easy to bite. The sushi (in my case the Spicy girl [51a]) was crispy and well sauced for a balanced flavor. Overall making for a good variety of flavors and textures giving a satisfied feeling from the meal. We ordered a few more items over the next 35-40 minutes all with adequate attention from the server. We did need to give our patience and consideration towards the greenhorn server but it was obvious she was putting in the effort which meant a lot to me. The experience for me came out as a 7.5/10 for having excellent food and a thoughtful service but a lack in overall training in the front of house. One small suggestion for the dining experience would be to add coasters to the table as the slick table design along with the cup type left condensation buildup on the table frequently. read more

Apparently, if you order shrimp fried rice here, you get white rice with maybe some shrimp. If you want what other places call shrimp fried rice, spend another $5 for "hibachi shrimp." And make sure you check your to-go orders because once you pay, you won't be getting a refund if they close your tab. Went back, and the "manager on duty" refused to give me a refund. This is the run of the mill AYCE sushi. I believe it's the only one in Hampton which would make it popular solely for that reason. The quality is average, but I was surprised at how tasty the Spicy Tuna roll was. Things that I would steer clear from is the hibachi chicken and steak (tough cut). It was so bland. I think the only flavor was from the hibachi sauce. It was literally a bland piece of protein with sauce squeezed on top. The onions were practically raw with the hibachi chicken, too. The atmosphere is the best out of the 4 sushi kings I've been to. We received my food rather quickly each order and our waiter checked on us regularly. Just a typical sushi king experience. But I'll probably never go there unless I'm working over at Langley hospital. Only complaint I have is that the bathrooms were not cleaned at all. My daughter and I have ate here twice and she fell in love with the place. She didn't realize there was more to sushi then California rolls or fish on rice balls. Now she eats here with her friends at least once a month. I have also eaten at the Sushi King outside of Gate One outside of JEB Little Creek. So my experience is limited, but the one in Hampton I found to be a little better as the waitress' were more attentive to my needs and were prompt to inquire if I would like more. The cleanliness was not bad at all, the restroom as mentioned in previous post is not the spotless as I experienced it but it did need a bit of cleaning up. The one in Norfolk at times I would wait 5-10 minutes to place another order so I have learned to order a larger quantity and fill out my next request to give to the waitress. The one in Hampton I ordered roll by roll to keep it as fresh as possible. I am no expert on Sushi, but everything I have eaten off of the menu I have enjoyed and every time I have walked out of there I felt I needed to go buy a large pair of jeans. I have eaten a ton of sushi throughout the United States and this is by far the most disgusting sushi I've ever eaten. First of all, I ordered handrolls and received regular rolls...but I digress. All of the food lacked flavor. The kani salad is just a bunch of imitation crab meat, no seasoning. The rolls fell apart as soon as I tried to pick them up. They hardly had any fish in them, it was mostly rice. Absolutely horrible. Also, what kind of sushi restaurant doesn't offer a sashimi appetizer? Do not order from here.
