Easily lost in the rows of shops and restaurants and the sea of people, there is Sushi Joy, a tiny hole in the wall the width of a door. There you will find a small selection of nigiri, maki, and inari. What you see in the display case is what is available, and it is sold as a la carte individual pieces for takeaway only.
I stumbled upon Sushi Joy by chance while walking around Chinatown looking for something affordable to eat for dinner. Curious by the affordable pricing and good-looking food, I got line to order. When my turn came, I got one piece each of the unagi nigiri, spicy salmon nigiri, grilled prawn nigiri, salmon dragon roll, and tamagoyaki. For spending around £11 on sushi sitting in a display case, I did not have high expectations. To my pleasant surprise, the sushi was fresh and tasty, and I had an enjoyable meal.
It is easy to walk past Sushi Joy without noticing it because it is so small and blends in so easily with its surroundings. Pay attention though if you like cheap food or decent sushi, so that you can find Sushi Joy. read more
