My significant other and I have eaten here several times over the past two years but now will not be returning. It is usually fairly quiet and never busy. The food has always been mediocre but the location is convenient, especially after a day at the beach. Tonight, we went with out of town guests and had a similar experience as the previous times we have dined there. Food was fine, they were out of some things but no big deal, server was only present to take drink orders, food orders and drop off food and check. All was fine until it came to paying our bill. My boyfriend paid cash and tipped roughly 20% on the pre-tax total and handed the bill to our server, not needing change. A few minutes went by as we were still finishing drinks etc and our server returned saying we did not tip him enough. I was stunned at the audacity. We are not the type of people who don't tip (even after awful service) but for a mediocre server to tell us we didn't tip enough was not appropriate. They said ready in 20-min, it took around 50. The woman who gave me the CC to sign wore no mask AND avoided the cashier shield. I'm a big sushi fan, so I yelped sushi around me and found Sushi Jo. I went there on a Friday night expecting to find it super crowded but the place had more than enough room to handle crowds. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The hostess and waitress was very welcoming. Sat us right away as soon as we walked in. We order the Sashimi Pizza for an appetizer and it was beyond amazing. Think of a sushi pizza. Fresh fish, fresh avocado, and everything else just in one on top of a tortilla (not hard/not soft). It was delicious. After we finished the waitress came and wiped down the table and got us set up for the sushi. So the place has cleanliness as their priority for sure. Alongside that we ordered the Triple Crown, Anaconda, and the simple shrimp tempura. The rolls were huge and jammed packed with ingredients. The tempura had fresh tuna and salmon, every bite was addicting. The anaconda had salmon skin, so the warmth of it tasted awesome. The price is a bit higher than others but it's all worth it. The environment is nice for dinner with the family or even a date. I'm recommending this to all my friends that don't already know it. read more

I order the veggie pad Thai which had an overflow of green & red peppers (very cheap choice for a $15 dish) I was anticipating more colorful, fun & tasty veggies. I was happy to see broccoli until i sampled it. The broccoli DROWN in the worst pad Thai sauce I've had my 32 years on the planet. It taste like ketchup and sweet vinegar, so bad! The sushi we ordered was bland and nothing stood out. The service was underwhelming as our server never checked it and basically ignored us our entire dinner. Ambiance/decor-3 Service-3 Food-3 Strikeouts-0/3 We came here due to a friend's recommendations for their sushi rolls during dinner happy hours between 4 pm to 6pm. We got there by 5:30pm on a Monday evening and the place was pretty much empty. There was just one other couple. When we left close to 7, two other groups came in. The place was dim, with sets of wooden tables and top 40 music at a low volume. This place is good for couples and large groups up to 8. As soon as we came through the door, a waiter briefly greeted us and said we could "sit where ever you'd like." So we picked a table of four beside the window. For the happy hour menu, there are a set of sushi rolls, pad thai, chicken, appetizer that are priced at a discounted rate. Their regular dinner menu can be found online. There is also a large set of soju and alcoholic drinks. We started off our dinner with $12 triple crown sushi roll, $12 volcano sushi roll and $8 Hawaiian roll. We were content with the number of rolls it came with each set of sushi (about 8-10 each) and they were about medium-ish large size. The rice as well made, lacking rice vinegar depending on our preference but overall it was pretty well made. The triple crown roll had huge chunks of tunas, salmon, which were were delighted about. There was also green onion in the same roll, which we thought made the roll quite flavourful. The volcano sushi was mediocre, nothing special in our opinion. Finally the Hawaiian roll was a nice treat. It was more sweet roll than anything. We enjoyed the combination of pineapple, cream cheese and coco in the roll. We thought, if only there was mango and mango puree added to it, it would definitely give it a nice touch. The wasabi unfortunately was very weak and artificial. One of us had to use a lot of wasabi to get the flavour. After finishing the rolls, we wanted to finish our dinner with a couple pieces of sashimi. We ordered 4 pieces of wild salmon (since they were the same prices as farmed salmon) and ordered 4 more prices of mackerel sashimi. Both sashimi were great and fresh. Service was average. The waiter came to take our order, we asked him questions to clarify the rolls and the assorted sashimi platter. He answered accordingly. The waitress was helpful and guided us in what to ordered so that we could be thoroughly satisfied. Overall this is a good place if you re looking to try new sushi rolls, as they had a lot of variety in their dinner menu, with a decent price.We also noticed that they have certain evening events on the weekends, so if you're looking for sushi with drinks and an evening to chill out with friends or family, this could be your go to place. read more
