I took my daughter to sushi go go because she loves sushi and my sister said too go try it. When we get there the girl there says only cash because their system was down. we ordered the honey box for my kid and the lady said 20 minutes. In 10 minutes it was ready and my kid was amazed! They also have a location in Union City, but I am not sure if it is the same owner. Both the Honey Box and the Orange Box caught my attention - I opted for the Honey Box, since the Orange Box had too much food, maybe I will try that one next time. I made a to go order as I was leaving the gym and the estimate time was about 10 - 15 minutes, so I took my time and my food was ready to go when I arrived within 10 minutes. I ordered the Honey Box, which comes with 4 pieces of nigiri (2 pieces of salmon and 2 pieces of shrimp), 4 pieces of salmon sashimi, and 8 pieces of California roll. I asked the employee on the phone for a substitution for the shrimp due to an allergy - she happily obliged and told me that they will give me 4 pieces of salmon nigiri instead. Wow! What a sad and disapointing experience. It used to be what folks say in the reivews--cheap, tasty, simple, fast. But tonight, I ordered through Doordash and the food was horrible. We ordered the GoGo box, an extra order of Lion King roll, an order of California Roll for our son, and a seaweed salad. We got the food in record time (always tip extra--delivery drivers pretty much are paid only in tips, as the base delivery rate is a joke, usually less than $4 for 20-30 minutes of work. You'll get your food faster and it's the right thing to do), but althogh our 10-year-old son said the California rolls were "good," nothing else was right. The basic problem, I think, is that Gogo has hit on a formula--make everyhting ahead of time when labor is cheaper, in huge quantities. Well, this crap must have been made a day or two in advance, because the fish and rice were not only not fresh tasting, they were dried out, chewy and even hard. The mayo-based sauces were clear and glistening, like they'd been sitting out unrefrigerated. Yuck. Not just bad tasting and bad looking, but also possibly dangerous. If this wasn't a one-time mistake and these people are charging customers $40-50 a person for day-old sushi that could give them food poisoning, it's the mark of a business that's either struggling financially or just doesn't value human life. I've been ordering from Sushi Go Go a lot, especially after COVID happened. They are incredibly affordable, especially if you order one of their 'trays'. It's usually $20-35 for enough food for 2-3 people. Candidly, their fish quality can be a bit of a hit or miss. My favorite tray is their Heat Tray, which is 2 spicy salmon rolls and a spicy tuna roll. There has been a few incidents where I didn't eat the spicy tuna roll because their tuna tasted off. Their salmon has been good quality for the most part. They also have an issue of being too busy at moments. Once or twice, I've / my Dasher has had to wait AN HOUR to get our food. That has been really annoying, but I guess that's what can happen. There is another Sushi Gogo in Alameda, and their fish quality was a lot better, but I'm not sure if they closed or just stopped doing orders. Either way, I hope that second location can open again, especially on holidays and weekends when they are busy. I have not ordered anything but their trays at this point, so I can't speak of the other menu items.
