Cute shop and great rolls! Only downside was that it can be a bit hard to choose, as you don't know what's at the end of the case when you begin, since you choose as you go down the line. We will definitely be back. Good sushi and fun drinks.

Your bubble girl reviewer (peanut, tree nut, and seafood allergy) did not have an allergic reaction here. I did have to ask them to use different tongs to pick up my sushi, but they complied! If you have allergies, always ask staff. You go up to order individual pieces of sushi and then bring everything back to your table, the staff was very pleasant and helpful! They helped be make sure everything I ordered I was able to eat. Definitely gave me the disclaimer that there is a possibility of cross contamination with seafood, but watching them roll on the counter behind the register, I didn't feel too concerned. It looked clean. There was actually a lot for me to choose from, as somebody with severe seafood allergies. Many vegan and vegetarian options as well too. I got the pieces of musubi supreme, chicken katsu musubi, tofu veggie roll, and truffle maki. They were all very tasty. I think my favorite was either the truffle maki or katsu musubi if I had to pick, but to be honest they were all really good. The spam musubi also had pork!! Never seen that combo before and it was really good. They were really fast about getting rolls out once they were out, I took the last of the katsu musubi and they had one back out pretty quickly after. Great sushi experience, I will definitely be back soon!!

I really love the concept here because I never can decide what type of roll to get. When I walked in I was greeted immediately. The young lady explained how everything worked. They have a rotating menu with plenty of options for everyone. All the sushi has the name right in front of it and are cut up Into bite size pieces. The prices range from a dollar and some change up to about five dollars. I picked out a few pieces I had never tried before. They even offer a few sauces for your sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. They have so many combinations that I would never think to put together. Everything does pair well together. I got the passion fruit drink. It was refreshing and light. I took my food to go and it was packaged beautifully. They put it in a cute black bag that seals up to keep the sushi fresh. This is an awesome new sushi spot. So if you can't ever decide on 1 roll and want a variety this is the spot for you.

The sushi box is an interesting concept, though it can get pricey since you're paying per piece. The sushi itself is fresh, with a good variety of flavors and both raw and cooked options. However, it can feel a bit confusing or overwhelming at first--the ingredient labels for each roll are printed quite small. Service is minimal and mostly comes into play when an employee helps select the pieces you want and places them into your chosen box. There are three box sizes available, and the staff are great at explaining the options if you have any questions. The store was clean, with plenty of tables available for dining in or taking your food to go.

I was so excited when I first heard of this concept of a restaurant coming to Clovis! However, I missed the opening days and I began to read the reviews and I was definitely skeptical. Therefore, it took me a while to try it. My brother strongly suggested we try it and I finally went reluctantly. However, I am so glad he really pushed me to go because I loved it! I loved it so much that we went two times in one week. First of all as soon as you walk in, everybody shouts to welcome you in Japanese. We used to do that at a restaurant that I worked at and I absolutely loved it. Then there is someone at the counter that asks you if you have ever been there before if not, they explain how the whole thing works. You get a choice between three sides boxes. The first time I went with four different people, and we all got the personal for ourselves . Each of us got about 10 pieces of rolls. Then at the end you can get some sauces or wasabi and ginger. The second time I went, I shared a personal box with my husband, so I got as many pieces as I could put in that box. The sushi rice was the perfect texture (and I'm super picky about my rice). The fish was so fresh! Honestly, the nigiri has been my favorites so far! As far as the roles go, they change those out pretty often which I love trying different things every time I go. All of the pieces were so good and I love that they are not drenched in sauce. Also, huge bonus is they use real crab in their rolls!! It is pricey, but it's not much more pricey than a typical sushi/seafood spot. It is sushi after all and it's very fresh! I would gladly pay more for quality. For me, I love the variety and the fact that I don't have to order a roll with 10 pieces and just continuously eat that. I love trying new things and I think if you are the type of person who just wants the same thing every single time and wants it to be exactly the same this place might not be the place for you. But if you like being spontaneous and open to trying new things, it'll be a better choice for you! All in all, I highly recommend to try this place out. I'm already planning my next visit.

Karaage is individually packaged. 1.5 stars out of 5 for the ENTIRE experience. It wasn't even worth testing.

This is very important. If by name, sushi was the exclusive item they served, they better be extraordinary at it. That was not the case. To start, their serving situation almost guarantees a line out the door. Their suite was setup as such, but could very well be done strategically to emulate the idea that this place is "poppin". If they opened with low cost to serve, high priced items, limited time opening without informing the public, and make that money and a tax write off, they'd have done their job well. Customer service is good. The line can move quickly, but every other guest is guaranteed to face indecision. And that's for those who are experienced with coming by this place. Because they change up their menu, so crowd favorites WILL NOT be there for the next visit. (We overheard this from 2 different groups of people, and they were quite vocal about their disappointment.) The sushi assortment on display is ACTUALLY what you will get, and this is a problem for several reasons. 1) Dry. The rice vinegar will not keep the rice moist as it sits out for display. 2) Dry. The fish will dry out. The flavor falls flat. The overall taste is bland. 3) Quality control is lost just by the first two items I mentioned. 4) Cost. I do not care how much money Clovis people think they make, the barrier to entry for affording this place is WAY too high for what you get for piece-mealing low quality sushi. I covered a couple of problems related to displaying the sushi for consumption. That's not the only problem regarding this complaint. The sushi is protected from those in line with the plexiglass display, but as they make new sushi, they will place the new plates on top of the glass, where an approx. 12 year old girl, height of the top of the case, open-mouth coughed on the 2 plates that eventually make it into the case for purchase. The employee saw that and figured it was okay to serve so quickly shoved them into the display. The only Pro: We didn't get sick from eating here. But to continue the cons, we shared 10 pieces as an appetizer to test out the joint and made us feel hungrier. All of this is why I am giving them a 1.5 out of 5 stars. Doesn't round up, I'm afraid.

Happy to see a pick and choose sushi establishment! Plenty of options available, but I will say.. each time i've been, the displays have been half empty. Fortunately, not a huge deal because they're usually able to restock on empties in ~10min! Sushi here is pretty good quality- just get whatever sounds good to you and you're set! Prices here are a littttle high, but nothing out of the ordinary for sushi imo. Overall, I'd give Sushi box an 8.5/10! It's a nice treat once in a while

Such a great concept to bring to Fresno's foodie scene! I was so excited when I heard this place was opening, sooner than expected! I opted for almost every cooked sushi option available, and every roll I chose was delicious. I especially appreciated the size of the rolls. I've never been a fan of the huge, overly wide sushi rolls, so these were perfect for me :) I also tried their salmon onigiri but saved it for lunch the following day, and it was still so good. One of my kiddos really enjoyed that one as well! We also ordered their miso soups to go which our children really enjoyed. My husband and I waited about 15-20 minutes in line, which wasn't too bad. It was just pretty cold outside, so I wish the heater lamps had been turned on. The service was also super friendly and welcoming! The space itself was clean, bright, and inviting. Unfortunately, I have to steer clear of raw sushi for now, but I can't wait to return once I'm able to enjoy it again. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Great to see they label top dietary restrictions / allergies!

We tried this hot new restaurant last night for the first time. It's pretty good, although I have two suggestions that would make it even better. Here's a quick rundown: 1) The restaurant itself is bright and airy, and they keep it super clean. There's a lot of seating and clean bathrooms. 2) The staff is really great; super attentive and friendly. There's almost too many of them, but I would rather they have more staff than they need than being short staffed. 3) The sushi itself was all really good. Our kids are fairly particular, and they loved their onigiri. We also liked our rolls. They list major dietary restrictions clearly on everything, which is great. There's a small selection of beer and also soft drinks. I do have a couple suggestions for things that would majorly improve the experience here. The first is getting rid of the paper boxes for dine-in customers, and simply using plastic bento boxes (less waste and actually easier to eat from). The second would be a couple more options that are a bit more plain: perhaps plain inari, a plain avocado roll...more basic (ie, less fancy) options. All in all, a solid addition to the greater Fresno sushi scene.

This is such a cool concept! Pick your sushi and create your very own sushi box. The ingredients are so very fresh, vibrant, and flavors are on point. Can't expect anything less from the Lin's group. Each piece is made perfect, nice and tight rolls. They have a great selection of sushi pieces from salmon, tuna, unagi, yellowtail, to pieces made with beef. Sushibox also offer appetizers, soups, and desserts. Every week they will have a new menu based on seasonal ingredients which is nice! You'll have an opportunity to try something new! They have a Lunch Box size that is 8-10 pieces, Shared Box 18-24 pieces, and the Party Box 35-40 pieces of sushi. There is a fountain drink machine and also bottled drinks as well. The staff here are so ready to help you with any questions. Super easy to order. Ambiance is light and welcoming. Happy to have something like this in town. Plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating. Will definitely be coming back for good sushi!

Finally had the time to visit. Stopped by Friday during their Grand Opening but didn't have the extra time to wait. Returned today arrived just after 5pm there was a line, as expected. It was nice that they had heaters outside to keep everyone warm. Waited about 40mins in line and we got inside and we waited a little more to get help overall we were there a total of 1 hour. Love the concept of this place, as you enter you are hit by the smell of fresh fish. Menus are provided at the front and their sushi rotates on a weekly basis. The items with the stickers in the menu are what they are currently offering for the week. You basically build your own sushi box. My husband and I wanted to try all of it!!! We decided to order 2 of each available item (expect items with crabs and mango, since he has a crab allergy and we just weren't interested in anything mango flavored. Each sushi is made fresh by all the hard working sushi chefs. The workers are so kind and they greeted and acknowledged us the whole way through. Not once did we feel rushed though they were busy. We ordered a total of 32 rolls. The rolls all tasted delicious, fresh and they were beautiful crafted. My favorites were the Bi Feng Tang, creamy crabby corn inrari. You could definitely taste the freshness of the raw fish. The shrimp tempura was amazing!!! It was so crunchy, the batter was delicious and it wasn't greasy! Would love to order that again!!! Liza was the one who packed our order and she was really nice, Othaniel was the kind gentleman who was the register he was full of energy. They are currently offering 10% on your order if you're an LRG member (download the app and sign up ) until 12/31/2025 and other offers until the end of the month. They had so many tables, looks like majority was taking their food to go, like we did and we received a really nice reusable bag! So glad they are open and happy to have tired them! Will definitely return so worth the wait. The resturant is clean and beautiful.

We were so excited to see this place open and it was all over social media but to my surprise it was very underwhelming. The concept is great. However, the rice was a little hard and it was very reminiscent of grocery store sushi. Not all rolls had that taste but the majority of them did. The service was friendly and they explained the ordering process well. After you order your box you have the option of sitting at one of the open tables or taking it to go. We stayed to eat ours but had to wait for a table to be cleaner. Overall, love the concept but the prices were a bit much for what you get. I'd rather sit down and order full rolls that are fresh and taste good.

Tried Sushi Box on a Thursday evening and even though the line was out the door, it moved pretty quickly. The concept is fun and easy -- all of the sushi is on display and you pick piece by piece, paying per piece. Just note that the menu rotates, so they won't always have everything listed on their full menu. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. They offer spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, and soy sauce on the side, plus ginger, which was a nice touch. I grabbed an assortment of rolls and nigiri and everything was very fresh and delicious. Despite the long line, we had no problem finding seating inside. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, and heaters outside to keep you comfortable while waiting in line or sitting outdoors. Overall, a great experience with high-quality sushi and an efficient, well-run setup. Definitely worth checking out!

But, since being with my bf... he said he liked it, so I gave it another chance and it hasn't disappointed since... other than raising their prices (ugh, inflation). The restaurant is nice... but not super fancy nice. I don't feel pressure to dress a certain way coming here so I like that. They keep it clean, plenty of available seating on both sides of the restaurant, as well as the sushi bar, and the outside patio. Host/Hostesses are always quick to greet you and get you seated as soon as possible. I've never waited too long, but I don't usually stick around if they (any restaurant) tell me it's an hour or more wait (if I'm starving). The longest I've waited here was probably 40mins... but we kept ourselves entertained. As for service at the table? I've never had an issue with any of our waiters/waitresses. Good job. When it's the two of us, we usually stick to the same type of rolls. He always goes for anything with Tuna, I go for Salmon (raw). I've switched between the K-Roll (name has changed from Kaylee or something) and the Psycho roll. They are basically the same thing honestly... just one has crab, one doesn't. He did Mura Mura this time, usually he does Marilyn Monroe. Again, there's no difference. All of their rolls are pretty similar with the slightest difference between each. I've tried a few others when I dined with my siblings but I can't remember what they were... all similar I'm sure, but all good. Oh, anything with thin lemon slices are good too. For appetizers, my favorite is the Stuffy Mushrooms. I prefer it without the fish flakes though. & I wish there was actually more of the pepper in there... it's just one tiny little piece. Edamame is always a good snack and they have different flavor options. The Mussels are okay here... not the best so it's not a must for me. Can't recall anything else at the moment. The ramen is also fantastic, but fair warning: the bowls are HUGE, so definitely come hungry. Their garlic edamame is absolutely addictive, and we really enjoyed the poke in the seaweed poke salad, though the dish does lean very heavily on the seaweed, so just keep that in mind before ordering. Cassidy is new to the restaurant and waited on us. an Shewas wonderful -- super friendly, attentive, patient, and just genuinely great service all around. The only downside was the new menu design. The font is extremely tiny, printed on a small laminated sheet, and honestly very difficult to read. Hopefully they make the text larger in the future because the food itself is outstanding. Overall, highly recommend Shobu if you're looking for fresh sushi, excellent sashimi, hearty ramen, and great service.

Arrived at almost 8'o clock (close at 830) we're still offering dine in & takeout . i decided to do…read moretakeout since they were close to closing time. The waitress was super helpful checking in if i had questions , even gave me water while i waited :). I ordered the tonkatsu ramen & asked if they could make it spicy , i was torn between two rolls so the waitresses helped me decided & the broccoli tempura as an appetizer. let me just say , for it being to-go everything was perfectly packaged was nice & hot yet flavorful ! 10/10
