I am definitely a sushi lover! When I found out about this place, I knew I had to give it a try. From the beginning, the price tag always gave me a little bit of a scare. So I tried it by myself rather than with my family at five. I loved the array of options. The service was wonderful and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I felt like the quality of the food was exceptional and every bite I had was delicious. Overall, I love the concept, and the idea that I get to try different options. But it's not really a consistent option, considering the price.

We tried this place for the first time today. The decor is very modern, clean and nice. It's definitely a millenial/gen Z concept. You go in and pick from a variety of pre made pieces of sushi. You can get as little or as much as you'd like. There is a lunch special from 11 a.m to 3 p.m if you spend $18 you can choose between a free miso or a free soda. We got two free miso soups and a free soda. I don't eat fish and I don't like sea weed lol so they did make me a custom soy wrapped cucumber, avocado roll. If you get a custom roll, you have to buy the whole roll. The pieces of sushi can definitely add up, they go from around $2 to $3 or $4 each. It's a cool concept if you want variety without having to order full rolls. The service was very good, they were helpful in helping us figure out how the concept works. It's very casual.

Your bubble girl reviewer (peanut, tree nut, and seafood allergy) did not have an allergic reaction here. I did have to ask them to use different tongs to pick up my sushi, but they complied! If you have allergies, always ask staff. You go up to order individual pieces of sushi and then bring everything back to your table, the staff was very pleasant and helpful! They helped be make sure everything I ordered I was able to eat. Definitely gave me the disclaimer that there is a possibility of cross contamination with seafood, but watching them roll on the counter behind the register, I didn't feel too concerned. It looked clean. There was actually a lot for me to choose from, as somebody with severe seafood allergies. Many vegan and vegetarian options as well too. I got the pieces of musubi supreme, chicken katsu musubi, tofu veggie roll, and truffle maki. They were all very tasty. I think my favorite was either the truffle maki or katsu musubi if I had to pick, but to be honest they were all really good. The spam musubi also had pork!! Never seen that combo before and it was really good. They were really fast about getting rolls out once they were out, I took the last of the katsu musubi and they had one back out pretty quickly after. Great sushi experience, I will definitely be back soon!!

First off, the concept is really cool. I like the pick and choose, but the prices can stack up. I got seven pieces and a onigiri which came out to around $26. Would be cool if there was set price for half dozen or dozen with limitations of course. Sushi was pretty fresh and rice quality is nice. Ambiance is super cool and looks relaxing enough to eat inside. Concept is for more food on the go, but I would totally eat inside next time. Service was nice and helpful, gave out a lot of sauces. Would come again when I want to treat myself.

I really love the concept here because I never can decide what type of roll to get. When I walked in I was greeted immediately. The young lady explained how everything worked. They have a rotating menu with plenty of options for everyone. All the sushi has the name right in front of it and are cut up Into bite size pieces. The prices range from a dollar and some change up to about five dollars. I picked out a few pieces I had never tried before. They even offer a few sauces for your sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. They have so many combinations that I would never think to put together. Everything does pair well together. I got the passion fruit drink. It was refreshing and light. I took my food to go and it was packaged beautifully. They put it in a cute black bag that seals up to keep the sushi fresh. This is an awesome new sushi spot. So if you can't ever decide on 1 roll and want a variety this is the spot for you.

First of all, I was planning to get poke from Butterfish, but I walked into the wrong door and ended up at Sushi Box instead First time being there and the vibe felt different right away. Great customer service too -- sadly I didn't ask for his name. The sushi was so damn good and I'd totally go back. I ordered 1 special onigiri, 4 specialty rolls, 2 special specialty rolls, and 2 inari. Total came out to $30.45 plus a $5 tip. Definitely worth it.

I was so excited when I first heard of this concept of a restaurant coming to Clovis! However, I missed the opening days and I began to read the reviews and I was definitely skeptical. Therefore, it took me a while to try it. My brother strongly suggested we try it and I finally went reluctantly. However, I am so glad he really pushed me to go because I loved it! I loved it so much that we went two times in one week. First of all as soon as you walk in, everybody shouts to welcome you in Japanese. We used to do that at a restaurant that I worked at and I absolutely loved it. Then there is someone at the counter that asks you if you have ever been there before if not, they explain how the whole thing works. You get a choice between three sides boxes. The first time I went with four different people, and we all got the personal for ourselves . Each of us got about 10 pieces of rolls. Then at the end you can get some sauces or wasabi and ginger. The second time I went, I shared a personal box with my husband, so I got as many pieces as I could put in that box. The sushi rice was the perfect texture (and I'm super picky about my rice). The fish was so fresh! Honestly, the nigiri has been my favorites so far! As far as the roles go, they change those out pretty often which I love trying different things every time I go. All of the pieces were so good and I love that they are not drenched in sauce. Also, huge bonus is they use real crab in their rolls!! It is pricey, but it's not much more pricey than a typical sushi/seafood spot. It is sushi after all and it's very fresh! I would gladly pay more for quality. For me, I love the variety and the fact that I don't have to order a roll with 10 pieces and just continuously eat that. I love trying new things and I think if you are the type of person who just wants the same thing every single time and wants it to be exactly the same this place might not be the place for you. But if you like being spontaneous and open to trying new things, it'll be a better choice for you! All in all, I highly recommend to try this place out. I'm already planning my next visit.

Karaage is individually packaged. 1.5 stars out of 5 for the ENTIRE experience. It wasn't even worth testing.

This is very important. If by name, sushi was the exclusive item they served, they better be extraordinary at it. That was not the case. To start, their serving situation almost guarantees a line out the door. Their suite was setup as such, but could very well be done strategically to emulate the idea that this place is "poppin". If they opened with low cost to serve, high priced items, limited time opening without informing the public, and make that money and a tax write off, they'd have done their job well. Customer service is good. The line can move quickly, but every other guest is guaranteed to face indecision. And that's for those who are experienced with coming by this place. Because they change up their menu, so crowd favorites WILL NOT be there for the next visit. (We overheard this from 2 different groups of people, and they were quite vocal about their disappointment.) The sushi assortment on display is ACTUALLY what you will get, and this is a problem for several reasons. 1) Dry. The rice vinegar will not keep the rice moist as it sits out for display. 2) Dry. The fish will dry out. The flavor falls flat. The overall taste is bland. 3) Quality control is lost just by the first two items I mentioned. 4) Cost. I do not care how much money Clovis people think they make, the barrier to entry for affording this place is WAY too high for what you get for piece-mealing low quality sushi. I covered a couple of problems related to displaying the sushi for consumption. That's not the only problem regarding this complaint. The sushi is protected from those in line with the plexiglass display, but as they make new sushi, they will place the new plates on top of the glass, where an approx. 12 year old girl, height of the top of the case, open-mouth coughed on the 2 plates that eventually make it into the case for purchase. The employee saw that and figured it was okay to serve so quickly shoved them into the display. The only Pro: We didn't get sick from eating here. But to continue the cons, we shared 10 pieces as an appetizer to test out the joint and made us feel hungrier. All of this is why I am giving them a 1.5 out of 5 stars. Doesn't round up, I'm afraid.

    Allyson T.

Happy to see a pick and choose sushi establishment! Plenty of options available, but I will say.. each time i've been, the displays have been half empty. Fortunately, not a huge deal because they're usually able to restock on empties in ~10min! Sushi here is pretty good quality- just get whatever sounds good to you and you're set! Prices here are a littttle high, but nothing out of the ordinary for sushi imo. Overall, I'd give Sushi box an 8.5/10! It's a nice treat once in a while

Such a great concept to bring to Fresno's foodie scene! I was so excited when I heard this place was opening, sooner than expected! I opted for almost every cooked sushi option available, and every roll I chose was delicious. I especially appreciated the size of the rolls. I've never been a fan of the huge, overly wide sushi rolls, so these were perfect for me :) I also tried their salmon onigiri but saved it for lunch the following day, and it was still so good. One of my kiddos really enjoyed that one as well! We also ordered their miso soups to go which our children really enjoyed. My husband and I waited about 15-20 minutes in line, which wasn't too bad. It was just pretty cold outside, so I wish the heater lamps had been turned on. The service was also super friendly and welcoming! The space itself was clean, bright, and inviting. Unfortunately, I have to steer clear of raw sushi for now, but I can't wait to return once I'm able to enjoy it again. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

We were so excited to see this place open and it was all over social media but to my surprise it was very underwhelming. The concept is great. However, the rice was a little hard and it was very reminiscent of grocery store sushi. Not all rolls had that taste but the majority of them did. The service was friendly and they explained the ordering process well. After you order your box you have the option of sitting at one of the open tables or taking it to go. We stayed to eat ours but had to wait for a table to be cleaner. Overall, love the concept but the prices were a bit much for what you get. I'd rather sit down and order full rolls that are fresh and taste good.

This is such a cool concept! Pick your sushi and create your very own sushi box. The ingredients are so very fresh, vibrant, and flavors are on point. Can't expect anything less from the Lin's group. Each piece is made perfect, nice and tight rolls. They have a great selection of sushi pieces from salmon, tuna, unagi, yellowtail, to pieces made with beef. Sushibox also offer appetizers, soups, and desserts. Every week they will have a new menu based on seasonal ingredients which is nice! You'll have an opportunity to try something new! They have a Lunch Box size that is 8-10 pieces, Shared Box 18-24 pieces, and the Party Box 35-40 pieces of sushi. There is a fountain drink machine and also bottled drinks as well. The staff here are so ready to help you with any questions. Super easy to order. Ambiance is light and welcoming. Happy to have something like this in town. Plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating. Will definitely be coming back for good sushi!

Great to see they label top dietary restrictions / allergies!

One word of advice: if you're planning to join the waitlist, I recommend calling ahead for a more accurate wait time. The website initially showed no one ahead of us, but after joining the waitlist it indicated several parties were waiting. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, which wasn't ideal with a couple of hungry kids. Thankfully, we were seated within about 10 minutes. Our server, Patrick, was fantastic! He provided excellent customer service, took the time to explain the sushi rolls, helped us navigate the kids' menu, and was attentive throughout our meal. Patrick, thank you for helping make my mom's birthday dinner so memorable. Khasey was our chef, and the food was absolutely delicious. He made sure we had every sauce we asked for. The teppanyaki experience for the children was engaging and fun. To top it off, the staff brought out a cute birthday dessert and sang a birthday tune for my mom, which made the celebration even more special. The location is another huge plus. It's situated in a great area near Fresno State with plenty to do before or after dinner, including ice cream shops, boba spots, VR gaming, and movie theaters. DO NOT EAT HERE On…read moreMay 7th, 2026 I had a terrible and dangerous experience at I Love Sushi. I would not recommend anyone to eat here EVER again. I went on a girls night out to celebrate mother's day early. My friend and I ordered 1 appetizer, 2 rolls, and 2 soft drinks. Half way through our meal my friend bit down on a sharp piece of metal that was inside one of our sushi rolls. We were livid and refused to eat any more and asked for the bill to be comped. The waitress was so sweet and understanding, however the owner was not. Before this incident even occurred, it obvious upon entering the restaurant that he has an issue with removing items from the bill or offering refunds. This is posted everywhere from the specials board next to the host stand to a full page inside the menu. We were told the owner is likely to call the police if we do not pay. The staff was terrified of upsetting him and it was apparent. The young waitress said "he is going to yell at me and i'm scared. I hate when he yells at me." At this point we made him wait on the phone to finish conversation with staff. Further, staff asked us to talk to him on the phone instead of operating in good faith. In this phone call my friend and I were told we are "overreacting" and our anger is "entertaining". We tipped the staff that helped us the cost of the bill and left our phone number up front in case the cops wanted to chase us down. The cops never came but it would have been enjoyable to see the restaurant become aware of contamination and hazards in their food. We called the health department who came a week or so following the incident. Although the health report did not find any further contamination in their food I Love Sushi was also flagged for washing dishes in the sink where food is prepped and incorrect washing of hands with limited handwashing supplies. Just so other patrons are aware.

So when my son asked us to meet him, his lovely wife and our 3 granddaughters for dinner on a recent visit I didn't have my hopes up. Namikaze is a nice quiet restaurant that from its decor could easily be an Italian, French or American restaurant. Just change the paintings on the wall. The Menu is pretty expansive. A full menu of Sushi, noodles, gyoza and rolls made it difficult to choose but eventually we narrowed it down. I always try the Unagi (eel) at any sushi restaurant. It is my barometer for how good everything else will probably be. It was good. I also ordered the Kimono Roll while my wife had Shogun roll. We also tried the Chicken Gyoza. Everything was terrific. Excellent taste and fresh. Next time someone asks me about Fresno I'll say "Fresno! They have good sushi there". Definitely Recommended.

I was immediate greeted by the two Sushi chefs behind the counter as I walked in. Not long after, the host greeted me and handed me a menu for me to select my order to go. I considered a poke bowl, however, their sauces were pretty standard. So instead I opted for their seaweed salad that came with a number of protein including tuna, edamame, shrimp, avocado, and masago. It was $19, so it wasn't necessarily inexpensive, however I figured a poke bowl with a couple proteins would run me right about there as well. The sushi chef got right away to work preparing my meal and I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I got home, I opened up my box and was a little underwhelmed with the presentation. The protein is cut up into small pieces and mixed in with the seaweed salad. In addition it is not pure seaweed as it is also mixed in with a bunch of other greens such as sprouts. So while the presentation was not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. I will definitely order this again.

This was a Tuesday afternoon. We both got the all you can eat and for the price, we did well. Everything came out hot and fresh. We ordered Spicy Salmon Roll, Avocado and Cucumber roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, an order of Taro Tempura (6 slices), Vegetable Tempura (Eggplant, taro root, broccoli, sweet potato), Broccoli Tempura (6 florets). spicy salmon hand roll. All were delicious. The place was packed by the time we left around 11;45. Get there early!

Our waitress was very attentive, and the food came out quickly. Nothing was phenomenal, but everything was fine and cooked properly. The gentleman bringing our food was rushing too much, and when he reached a plate out towards me to hand it off, the sweet chili style sauce slid off and dumped down my blouse, into my shirt, all over my Apple Watch, and down my side onto my pants and the bench seat. Unfortunately, the busboy just stood there saying nothing. I asked for napkins and he quickly brought them, and never apologized. The waitress came back by and mentioned she heard we had an accident and she was sorry about that. We were not comped in any way. That would have been a of show excellent customer service, but instead I was just left with a ruined blouse and sticky and stinky for half of my meal. Overall, a decent experience and decent food, but I hope the bus boy moved a little more carefully from now on! And my goodness, an apology from him would have been great. Happy Mother's Day lol

That didn't stop me today for lunch, and I'm glad it didn't because I got my serving of some good sushi today!! I went ahead and got the number 19 eel roll suggested by Mr C and I'd have to say I was very happy with my roll!! It was really good, maybe just add a little more of that sauce on top. 10 pieces for 17 dollars wasn't bad at all and I enjoyed every bite I had!! Mr C and his wife served me and they were very kind, I was struggling to find the dragon roll i usually get but Mr c helped me find the right one on his menu. Thank you for that top notch service and patience. Sure you have to wait a few mins for your sushi to be done, but that just means it's fresh, well prepared, and I got plenty of time to find a movie to watch while I chow down!!! Thank you Mr C and thank you for the extra soy sauce I needed. Really appreciate this business and I'll be back to support them some more

I went with the dragon roll and rainbow roll, and they were spot on. Dragon rolls had just the right amount of unagi sauce. We also grabbed a Thai tea, which alone makes this my favorite drive-thru spot. The wait time is reasonable considering the sushi chef makes it fresh to order. 4/5 for good sushi and the drive-thru convenience

Huge menu with a lot to choose from - I usually go for the bento boxes. The tempura isn't greasy but it's crunchy. Gyozas are good and fresh. The sushi I've tried has been tasty too. There's another side to the restaurant that I believe is the teppanyaki side. Haven't experienced it yet since I've only come for lunch. I'm wondering if they get a lot of business since it's so barren when I go. Hoping they get enough business because I do enjoy this restaurant!

Once we walked in we noticed it was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon, but nonetheless we weren't bothered or worried. We feel our experience will be all the more better with just us 2 in the restaurant. Either way, we're good, the food will speak for itself. We decided to sit at the sushi bar and glad we did! Great music selection and the sushi chefs were a blast to talk with. Their humor made our lunch even that more enjoyable. We definitely made some friends and looking forward to come back another time.

Whether you're craving sushi, teriyaki, or ramen, they really have something for everyone. The sushi and sashimi are incredibly fresh -- honestly some of the freshest fish we've had at any sushi restaurant. It tastes like the chef went out and caught it that morning. The 14-piece sashimi platter with a couple of rolls was more than enough for two people, and everything was excellent quality. The ramen is also fantastic, but fair warning: the bowls are HUGE, so definitely come hungry. Their garlic edamame is absolutely addictive, and we really enjoyed the poke in the seaweed poke salad, though the dish does lean very heavily on the seaweed, so just keep that in mind before ordering. Cassidy is new to the restaurant and waited on us. an Shewas wonderful -- super friendly, attentive, patient, and just genuinely great service all around. The only downside was the new menu design. The font is extremely tiny, printed on a small laminated sheet, and honestly very difficult to read. Hopefully they make the text larger in the future because the food itself is outstanding. Overall, highly recommend Shobu if you're looking for fresh sushi, excellent sashimi, hearty ramen, and great service.
