We did not eat there, we attempted to order via GrubHub+. We were at my son's house in Port Orange. An order was dropped off just before the delivery time, but it was a much smaller order. Our order was nearly $150 and this order was only 2 items. We tried contacting GrubHub who just wanted to issue a refund and be done with it, but we were hungry. To the food - this sushi was all very fresh and the sashimi cuts were generous. We got the Sashimi Deluxe, spicy tuna roll, (both in "the other order") and the following: 3. Yellowtail Roll 4. Spicy Tuna Roll 10. Alaska Roll 11. Spicy Scallop Roll 5. Salmon Skin & Cucumber Roll 12. Spicy Scallop Sushi (very generous topping, could not fit in my mouth!) 8. Rainbow Roll - large and fresh 6. My mom and I were on the hunt for a new lunch spot for sushi and this place hit the spot! It has a great location right on the main road. It is in the same spot as where the old Tijuana Flats used to be. They really upgraded the space. It is beautifully decorated inside with lights and various artwork. I was really impressed. The service is exceptional as well! You will be pleasantly greeted upon arrival and will be well taken care of throughout your stay! Most importantly, the food is delicious! The sushi was great and the service was kind through and through. They start you off with clear soup, which was honestly one of my first times having that soup. I liked it a lot since most places give you onion or miso soup. I got a California and Crunchy roll. Both were sooo good, and of course yum yum sauce makes it all better! I also tried the mango roll, and I thought it was a great addition to the menu as it was bursting with flavors. For desert, we had fried ice cream which was YUMMY! I tried the Asian Pear sake, and I think it was a good drink, but personally I just wasn't a fan of the flavor. I am a sake fan so I'm not knocking it! I understand if they will charge an extra $1or $2 for substitution but FIVE DOLLARS.... Another Japanese restaurant near Sam's club will do that with no problem. I also order katsu pork and they forgot to give the katsu sauce again for the second time. It seems like now they only think about upcharge more than making sure the order is done correctly. I decided to wait until after my second visit here before writing a review, I think this is an okay place to eat sushi, nothing in my opinion is amazing but a solid choice in an area where the choices are somewhat limited. The sushi menu is somewhat limited but over-all there are enough menu selections that everyone should be able to find something they will enjoy. The staff here is very outgoing and attentive but not clingy once your food arrives they leave you alone to enjoy it. Some may take this as poor service but I like being left alone, anytime I've needed something they have always been close enough to get their attention. There are a few disappointing items on the menu like Imitation "Krab" which is usually Alaska pollock often mixed with fillers such as wheat, egg whites, crab flavorings and other binding ingredient, such as the enzyme transglutaminase (used to 'firm up' the product to enhance its 'mouth-feel). The other is some of the raw tuna is minced almost to the point it's a paste, there are also fresh options so choose wisely if you care, like most sushi places you shouldn't assume. First impression is a generously sized strip mall sushi place. The corner spot gives it the extra elbow room. Clean, open and comfortably modern. The menu is safe Americanized Sushi, Rolls and a few extra "cooked" dishes. Nothing scary or adventurous. While pursuing the menu and beef broth (?) and small plate of the Holiday appetizer came out. Fun! The Sashimi appetizer came with 9 generous prices. A small note on the Tuna, it was the most beautiful deep red. Just beautiful. The Lucky Dragon was a excellent choice. I find my choices on rolls are getting more limited with time. No fake Krab, no cream cheese, no fried (except soft shelled crabs) Yet, these item dominate the menu in most standard Sushi places. The Luck Dragon is a happy marriage of warm eel, avocado and topped with cool sliver of Tuna. With great enjoyment, this roll is perfectly sized to pop into your mouth. The rice is a perfect bridge with a nice snap of scallion and roe. I over ordered. Go figure. But this was a perfect stop for a hectic day.
