We made a reservation a few days before Christmas and asked to be seated at the counter, as it is the tradition in Japan. The waitresses wear kimonos, and the entire staff is from Japan. Add the peaceful interior, we felt being transported to the country of the Rising Sun. The 7-course menu changes very frequently and features the best of the kaiseki cuisine. Highlight of the night was the 'wagyu beef' with miso, cooked on a magnolia leaf in front of you. Also, the apple-themed dessert was excellent and offered 4 different ways of cooking the fruit. They have slightly decreased their prices for dinner, and it is definitely worth the splurge.

The katsu similarly seemed to be the poorest quality pork. There was some meat but quite a bit of fat and gristle. Prices overall seemed quite high for the low quality of food. The croquettes were the best part of the meal. They had a crispy outside and warm, soft, tasty filling. If you are in the midst of a protest and want to avoid walking far with tear gas in the air you might want to stop in here, but otherwise it's probably better to keep walking and find something better.
