One afternoon I was chatting with a friend about my wish to sell a Park Slope property that I had co-owned for 40 years. I was expressing my qualms about the complexities of this decision, not the least of which was finding a good realtor. I had put it off for some while because I had a pretty low opinion of the realtors I had dealt with in the past. My friend suggested that I contact Susan Breen. She had apparently been very helpful to him in a similar situation and he was very specific and positive about the kind of assistance and support she provided for him when he put his house on the market.
So I did contact her. It was the beginning of a process which definitively turned out to be quite different than my previous experiences with real estate agents -- and this time, not at all stressful. I believe that the smooth transition from ownership to sale was largely due to the kind of help provided by Susan Breen.
From the beginning, I found her a good listener. She understood my concerns and was clear and concise in her responses. Her knowledge of the market came with an informal tutorial about 'comparable properties' to mine -- 'comps' she called them, and was completely knowledgeable about all of the properties which were being offered in and around my area. I was encouraged to even look at some of them the way a potential buyer might. This all provided valuable pricing assistance.
Susan provided a short list of lawyers (from previous experiences with them) whom she felt were excellent. It was interesting to see that the lawyer I chose turned out to be exactly as Susan had described him. He was easy to contact, returned calls without hesitation, and got us through any of the routine issues which crop up along the way, with a positive and serene attitude that remained positive and non-confrontational. In short, he was very much like Susan Breen.
She worked hard and with great integrity for me, her sense of ethics transcending the pursuit of profit; nothing shady crept into the negotiations. Susan has a strong sense of what her job requires of her. She was available to me as a person whom I could count on for each of the many tasks that selling a property requires.
I am happy to be able to recommend Susan Breen without any restrictions, as a person to turn to for support and knowledge in the sale or purchase, or rental of real estate. She will get the job done in a way that leaves you feeling that you made a great choice. read more
