I really wante some suya chicken, did a lot of research and landed in this place. I was very excited when I arrived and decided to dine in and take a meal to- go. There was no acknowledgment of me even entering the space and no direction on ordering. After figuring it out, I ordered my food, I also informed them I would be eating in then took my seat directly across from the register with my drink. I watched people come and go and still nothing, Eye contact was made with the man on the register gesturing a questioning "where's my food" which he said he was checking and it would be ready shortly. After an hour and 15 minutes and my again, approaching the register, they grabbed a bag from the side. I payed full price for the items and reminded them it was eat-in. At this point I'm over it! A half hearted apology was offered from someone that emerged from the back/ kitchen area. I just took my items to eat at home. When I it to my car in the back, someone comes out with a patty in a brown bag for my wait. That said, the service was not good and took way from the entire experience. Amazing Nigerian / West African food. 1) Must get item is the chicken Suya and beef Suya. OMG, the chicken Suya was 10/10, while the beef was 9/10. 2) Their jollof rice was good, but I had better. 3) Their meat pie is also a must get. It is Nigerian style meat pie, slightly different from the British style most people are used to. 4) Down side is their service, which is very poor. Come here for takeout only. The place is nicer than one would expect for the casual food that they serve. Menu is quite limited. there is an African/Nigerian market attached. Nevertheless, this is the best beef suya I have tasted so far (wife of a Nigerian). Service was just terrible. If you are reading this and are Nigerian I'm sure you are used to bad customer service from some of our people. Well this was next level. I don't think I have ever experienced it this bad. The eye rolling was one thing I didn't understand how is it that every time we asked a question that was the immediate reaction from the lady out front. We came in to spend our money and you act as if you are doing us a favor. When we arrived we didn't realize you had to come up to place your food order. When we noticed everyone doing it we followed the example. You stand there and she doesn't acknowledge you until you speak to her. Alright I can deal with that to a level. But everything from there went down hill. I asked for fork eye roll and it took forever. Our food came out at different times not all together. We asked amala and got iyan fine. We asked for jollof rice combo come to find out that was jollof rice and fried rice on the same plate fine we can manage it. Then come to the worst moi-moi I ever had another patron returned theirs. We tried to return ours and she refused. At that point I had had enough. Ordered for pickup and pretty disappointed. Food tasted reheated and like it was a made on Friday or Saturday. I was hoping for freshly made food. I guess since it's Sunday, they still have to sell the merchandise. I will consider going on another and hopefully the food will taste fresh. I ordered beef suya, a little hard, like when you reheat it in the microwave, seasoning made it taste flavorful. The meat pie was ok, definitely not fresh but will satisfy as an afternoon snack. What an unfortunate service experience trying to support our local Nigerian business. I will Never go back there again. Ordered amala, they brought pounded yam and said we don't have amala. They served moi moi that was warm on the outside but frozen in a sealed pack and said, since we opened the pack we could not get a refund. Jollof rice combo means jollof and fried rice even though the menu says nothing about fried rice. Appetizers was served after the meal. Waiter was rude and arrogant. You get up to get your own water. This will be our first and last time at this restaurant. We went to this restuarant due to a friend's review of the restuarant. As we walked in, there was no one at the front of the register, felt like an empty restuarant. We decided to wait for someone to answer by grabbing a seat at the table. The register girl (with red braids) was absolutely rude, she immediately told us that we couldn't sit down because it wasn't a "sit - in" restaurant...weird because there is an entire restuarant filled with EMPTY chairs (see picture). She then told us that we had to stand for over an hour for our order, we decided to order just Suya and leave. The register girl was absolutely the worst, she was rude and kept making faces at us. We paid and left. In all fairness, the beef suya was bomb, so we decided to come back within the hour to buy FOUR more. We had the same girl at the front of the restaurant. We were pleasant, greeted her and everything. She took our order of four suyas. AFTER we paid she turned and said "you order will be ready in 45mins". We were shocked! Why wouldn't she tell us it would take so long for just suya! Ridiculous ! We had a few people come in to pick up their orders and told us we should've ordered before coming in because they ALWAYS take forever. As a business owner, this isn't how you run a restaurant especially if you're dealing with food. Inform people about the wait time before you take their money and have them wait! Customer service would be negative ONE, ambience ZERO because we couldn't sit down for 45MINS! I think that girl needs to be fired. A new girl (beautiful woman) came out and she was the new register girl, she was very pleasant! She should be the register girl not the lady with the red hair. Bottom line, their beef suya is really good. They keep it authentic, wrapping it in newspaper. They do not skimp on the meat; you get a great portion of suya for $10. Been here total 3 times now and have never been disappointed. Their jolloff rice is also very tasty; what we call 'party rice' lol. I haven't branched out on other dishes on the menu and have always ordered to-go. Next time I'll try a few other dishes. I will say I have ordered their chicken suya and it was okay. The Suya served here is excellent! Reasonable prices and very authentic. The Suya was even wrapped in this faux newspaper which I've only seen done in Nigeria. Make sure you place your order before coming because the wait time can be a bit long. There is parking in the back so you don't have to worry about street parking. Went here with my husband on our short trip to New. I have to say the ambiance of the whole place was great. The suya was on point. I am giving this restaurant 2 stars only because of the absolutely terrible in restaurant service. The food would rate a 5 star as it was deeelicious especially the beef suya. My friends and I went there on a Friday evening and we were the 3rd set of guests there and the only ones who had to place an order. There were no clean tables so we had to wait for a young lady to clean one for us. Seems there were only 2 people working and so we paid a hefty price in service. The only employee who in all fairness is a lovely and friendly young woman was handling the register, the phone orders and in restaurant service. Which restaurant owner who knows that his business gets lots of phone orders along with in restaurant patrons on a Friday evening would only have one person working for him? Owner needs a lesson in running a business. The young lady took forever to take our order and then we had to go up to the register to place it. While I was placing my order after a 45 min wait, she had the nerve to take a phone order which meant it will be placed before mine. Then, she acknowledges a walk in customer without completing my order and then was about to take another phone order!!! Now I was getting aggravated and told her to stop and complete my order as I was there for over an hour now. Mind you, all the orders she was taking over the phone and from walk-in customers went in before ours so we had an exceptionally looooong wait to get our food. It is best to place your order from home and then get there but space is limited and these folks don't get up and leave after they eat like regular restaurants so you might NEVER get a seat. Better to order takeaway. Ambience is lovely and they make a very delicious hibiscus leaf and ginger drink. If you visit, try it. Horrible, horrible service but delicious food. read more
