Fried yams & tilapia

Jollof good! Waakye good! I'm Ghanaian so I know GOOD waakye and jollof when I taste it. They have a good variety of Ghanaian food. Clean restaurant. Great service. The soups are good too. They give you a lot of meat and their food portions are big. Really worth the price (about $15 or less). Even the lunch special takeout is a lot of food and even cheaper. It's hard to find parking around the front of the restaurant sometimes, but there is parking in the back.

Chicken and Jollof Rice!

This is a low key cool atmosphere. A great spot for the mildly advantageous foodie willing to try another level of ethnic food with or without a spoon. Ghanaian cuisine is a lot of comfort food. Savory soups, flavorful rice and spicy main dishes that range from mild to " where's my glass of water!". I recommend the Jollof rice with Chicken. It's generally well made here and its mildly spicy. It's a great intro dish.. then work your way to others like FUFU and peanut butter soup. Garden city is an excellent example of classic Ghanaian comfort food. Dining in is quaint and simple. There are newspapers from Ghana and other parts of Africa, which provide a unique outside prospective of current affairs. Ok, some things I think they could improve. The lighting would serve the place better if it was updated to something more modern. The bathroom could use an update. It's not bad but it's not great either but its relatively clean. And second, I hate take out in Styrofoam. It doesn't take much to melt Styrofoam like steam from hot food. This is never good for food.

Love this place. 1) The food is very affordable. 2) The portions are very large. 3) We got the jollof rice with chicken and chicken waakye. I will recommend requesting the curried tomato sauce with both the dishes.

Goat soup and fufu

Had the goat soup with the fufu and it was really good. Not sure how anyone would eat all that fufu, I had half and was stuffed. The fufu was an interesting consistency and left the flavor delivery to the soup. The soup was delicious with a nice amount of spice.

Never had this type of food, but loved it. Had both the fish (watch out for bones) and chicken Jollof. Cynthia is the owner and cook. And she is right there in the kitchen making everything from scratch.

I found this restaurant while searching for African food. I work with newly arrived refugees, and we had a long day of meetings today. I wanted them to have a taste of "home" for the first time since arriving in the US last week and Garden City was the perfect place! The woman at the counter ( I did not get her name) was an angel to us. A fellow patron chipped in for our bill, and we were given appetizers on the house. Not only that, I asked where could i find a huge bag of corn meal... and could you believe that she graciously donated a 50 POUND bag? I feel so blessed to have met this wonderful woman of God. The family enjoyed their delicious meal, and we all walked out with our stomachs and hearts full. Thank you SO much!!

This tiny unassuming African spot on the Main Street in Springfield is one such establishment. If you asked me where the very best grilled chicken I could have is I would point you here and tell you to ignore the fact that it was African, if you asked me for the very best African food I would say there are many great places and this is one of the absolute best! Karen, the owner and chef and Emanuel her brother are kind and well versed in hospitality, a fact that her formal and informal training will prove if you are fortunate enough to meet them. The spices, the smells and the flavors are what Africa is known for and the first thing they will tell you is that everything is cooked to order so don't expect it to just be ready but I promise you it's worth twice the amount of time (it wasn't too long by the way) and you truly feel as though you have been invited into their home. With no hyperbole this is not just some of the very best African food I've had it's some of the very best food I've ever had and I cannot wait to return.

They use a lot of garlic on everything. It was a one and done. If you enjoy garlic, then it's for you. Restaraunt itself smells bad. It's not the most hygienic place. It's very a mom and pop, hole in the wall kinda place. I wouldn't dine in because of the smell.

There was no acknowledgment of me even entering the space and no direction on ordering. After figuring it out, I ordered my food, I also informed them I would be eating in then took my seat directly across from the register with my drink. I watched people come and go and still nothing, Eye contact was made with the man on the register gesturing a questioning "where's my food" which he said he was checking and it would be ready shortly. After an hour and 15 minutes and my again, approaching the register, they grabbed a bag from the side. I payed full price for the items and reminded them it was eat-in. At this point I'm over it! A half hearted apology was offered from someone that emerged from the back/ kitchen area. I just took my items to eat at home. When I it to my car in the back, someone comes out with a patty in a brown bag for my wait. That said, the service was not good and took way from the entire experience. Food was okay after getting home practically starving.

OMG, the chicken Suya was 10/10, while the beef was 9/10. 2) Their jollof rice was good, but I had better. 3) Their meat pie is also a must get. It is Nigerian style meat pie, slightly different from the British style most people are used to. 4) Down side is their service, which is very poor. Come here for takeout only. You will enjoy the food.

I'm so glad I found this place -- it did not disappoint. The decor and artwork instantly transported me back to the riads and vibrant streets of Marrakech. We first got the combo appetizer, the hummus was simple, but I also liked the two other dips (I don't know their names). I wish the naan was fresher, but it was still warm. It was my first time having falafel and it was delicious!! Very warm and crunchy which paired well with all three dips. I also ordered the mixed platter, it came with chicken, beef, pork, and more meats that I'm not familiar with the names. Everything was delicious but what stood out to me the most was the lamp shank!! It was so juicy and soft, very well cooked. I would next time have it alone as is! Overall, I have a great time here, food is great and I would definitely come back to try more of this culture.
