Surface Magc is great! I highly recommend them. They are indeed a rarity among contractors.Super nice, informative, provides quality work at an affordable price and backs it up with a 5- year warranty. I called them several months ago to reglaze my tub and surrounding tile. My son was only a few months old at the time so I asked if there will be any negative effects. They told me he doesn't recommend doing the work with a baby in the house. Even though they use a heavy duty ventilation system. He says he even recommends that dogs be out of the house or closed up in a room due to toxic fumes. He told me I should take my son out of the house for a few days when we do the work. I appreciated his honesty. I told him I will call him back the following week to schedule but I never did. I decided not to do the work then. Fast forward a year later- I called Surface Magic on a Tuesday to do the work, by Thursday afternoon my bathroom looked new. He was super nice as before over the phone and in person. He arrived on time and finished the job in about 4hrs as scheduled. Our tiles and bathtub look new. They did an awesome job. The bathroom had the chemical smell after the job as Surface Magic mentioned. We left the windows open and placed a fan overnight to drive the smell out. We love our old tub. As it was made of cast iron. It was not a clawfoot tub. But it was a nice deep cast iron a very old one. Our family loved to bathe in it. As it was so deep and big. We looked at some new ones. But they were not as deep or as well built. We also knew that it would take allot of work to remove that old tub from the third floor. However the tub was old and dingy looking. It was next to impossible to clean. If you looked at it you could see the metal was starting to show through. Anyway it was the Christmas eve and we wanted to have it done for Christmas. We were lucky we were able to contact Surface Magic. As they took us right in and refinished our tub. We couldn't believe the difference they made for us. We were all excited for Chritmas as we could show off that old tub with a smile. We were so glad that we found Surface Magic. A friend of our highly recommended them. I couldn't stand looking at my old tub any more. As it was very dull and hard to clean. Surface Magic just left and I couldn't get to my computer fast enough to write this review. First of all they wee super accommodating to my schedule, second of all he could not be any nicer of a guy. My bathtub I'm sure was the original in the house which was built in the 50's. It was very dull and had a fair amount of rust, especially around the drain. At first he was very concerned about the amount of rust and that it may not be repairable but said he would do what he could. He repaired the area around the drained and showed me and it was solid as a rock, he was even pounding on it with his fist. After he was finished glazing you wouldn't be able to tell me that it didn't look brand new. Fantastic job, plus the price was insanely reasonable, I almost feel guilty that they didn't charge me more. read more

Surface Magic did a very good job on our challenging tub. When I first called him, he answered right away and set up an appointment with me to see our tub just a few days later. We hated that outdated 60's kitchen. Those countertops really needed to go. As they were very ugly. Anyway a friend of ours told us about Surface Magic. They have some stone finish in a wide variety of colors. It sounded very interesting. Surface Magic came out and gave us a free estimate. They told us all about the process. Apparently they use their bathtub glaze as a clear coat and that is what makes the countertops so durable. As I was afraid that paint would just scratch off. But I am glad that I was wrong about that. Anyway, we just had it finished and it turned out better then I thought. We really love it. We have an old claw-foot tub. That has been in our family for a very long time and means allot to us. Sadly that tub has seen it's better days. Before Surface Magic came along. A friend of ours who used them years ago. Highly recommended them. So we gave them a shot and boy are we glad that we did. That tub turned out allot better then I could even imagine. Boy what a difference. That tub has a nice shine and look to it. Plus cleaning is so much easier now as well. We are not afraid to put our kids in that tub. It is holding up nicely. Surface Magic sure did wonders on our tub? It was badly worn and looked dirty. We tried everything but we could not get that old tub looking clean. It was very frustrating. So our neighbor asked us to contact Surface Magic and boy are we glad that we did. They were very thorough and explained everything. They were right our tub had no finish on it that is why we could no longer get it cleaned. We didn't realize the damage the comet that we were using was so abrasive and over time removed the original finish. But that makes sense. I have used Surface Magic Bathtub Refinishing's services 6 or 7 times in the past decade on various remodels (including my own home) in Amherst. They are the only contractor I have ever used for these services as they are easy to work with and I always get consistent, quality results. As the photos show, I have used them not only for tubs but on occasion to totally change the nature of a vintage bathroom. But this time we used them for our ugly tile countertops. We hired Surface magic to refinish our bathroom. The Subway tiles and our old cast iron tub. The finish was worn off on the tub and hard to impossible to clean. The tiles were looking very dingy. We loved the work that Surface Magic did in our bathroom a few years ago. As they did a terrific job on our tub and surround in our master bathroom. It still looks like the day they did it. Boy am I glad that I found these guys. My tub was terribly worn out and ugly. I tried one of those kits. I followed the instructions exactly as printed. But it turned out worse then it was orginal. I was afraid to rip the tub out as I love my baths. Anyway. a friend of mine highly recommended these guys. They were very polite and friendly. These guys did a wonderful job on our counter tops we were very apprehensive about having another co. come in and resurface our counter tops, they looked just awful after the last contractors came in and resurfaced them they totally ruined them, Then we called Surface Magic. Bob did an amazing job. I know that's what everybody says, and there's a reason for it. The guy is great. I had this old shower stall with baby blue tile, that was faded & cracked. Re-tiling was not an option because this is a condo, and the downstairs owner refuses to break the wall open to replace the galvanized pipes. So, I didn't want to spend the money on retiling with a galvanized pipe in the wall. Bob came when he said he would, and filled all of the holes and cracks in the tile. Then, he cleaned it thoroughly and prepped it perfectly for the reglazing. read more
