I can't say enough great things about this place. I have had my share of facials in the past but always found them lacking in results. The experience was pleasant but not much different than a massage. I found my dream facial experience at Surface. I receive the results of medical spa but the experience and relaxation of a day spa. I now go EVERY month for a peel because the results are amazing. I cannot tell you how many people comment on the difference in my skin. All the estheticians are fabulous but I have been going to Amanda regularly for the longest. She is incredible and I totally trust her to figure out and provide the right service for my skin at the time. Jolie is an excellent esthetician - she really worked hard to get rid of my blackheads (I've only been here once for a facial, so far). And she did some research trying to figure out what is going on with my crazy skin. I appreciate that she refered me to a dermatologist instead of trying to take care of everything herself. She really seemed like she cared about making my skin better, but time will tell if I actually see results. Also, I've had a lot of experience with estheticians and dermatologists - many unpleasant and frustrating experiences - and I am very impressed with this place so far. I have never been happier with my skin. Jennifer has done an amazing job making me look fresh and young and acne free. I love her so much I have now gone back twice. She is thorough and relaxing. Every question I had she would answer it without my asking and she listened carefully to how I feel about my skin (that I have bad breakouts and am oily) and the types of products that I like (scrubby beads, foamy soaps, and products that don't leave me feeling oily and dirty) and pointed me in the right direction for products I would like...and that I DO like. I now have been using them regularly since my first time seeing her about a month an a half ago. She has even helped me pick out sunscreens and given me guidance on how to prevent further sun damage to my chest, shoulders, and arms. The spa itself is so relaxing that the second I walk through the door I am relaxed. It always smells so good and is so clean and tidy. The rooms and tables are comfortable and I love that the tables are warmed and have a pillow beneath your knees. I love her. I intend to have a long lasting relationship with her since my skin is the happiest it has ever been. I highly recommend her and the spa. Best skin experience yet. I met with Jennifer for a facial last week and the whole experience was beyond my expectations! She was very knowledgeable and gave me some key tips on how to take better care of my skin. The facial was absolutely amazing! She let me know exactly what she was doing throughout and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The relaxing music, heated bed, and aromatherapy were just some of my favorite parts! After the facial she recommended some products for me but did NOT pressure me into buying anything which was great. My skin today looks great it's a lot smoother and my pores are noticeably smaller. This is a great place. First the receptionist is such a wonderful women. They really know how to run a business and what customer service is. The products they use are also incredible. I have been struggling with acne most of my life. At 31 I kept waiting to grow out of it, but it never happened... until I found Jennifer at Surface Esthetics. I've been coming for monthly chemical peels since October and my skin looks fabulous. I no longer need to wear heavy foundation to even out my skin, something I haven't been able to do in over 15 years. I've also tried dermaplaning which is much more comfortable than threading for hair removal and exfoliation. Aside from the wonderful results, Jennifer is friendly and very professional. I have very sensative skin, but Jolie has somehow found a way so that when I leave after a wax there is little to no redness. Her facials are also top notch. My appointment was with Michelle. My visit to the spa was amazing. Michelle is very detailed and knowledgeable with her career in esthetics. Consultation was very good, a lot of feed back and advice with the products I already had at home and went through treatments I've previously done. She made sure to really know how my skin reacts to products and procedures before we began my facial. On to the facial. Amazing! I myself hate having/using steam when I'm getting a facial. So damaging to the skin! I love the Lucas spray, feels absolutely amazing. I also have problem skin and one thing I've always had a problem finding in an esthetician is finding one that does a good job with extractions. Michelle took the time to go through my entire face and extract almost every single black head, congestion etc that I had. I will definitely be coming back for another facial. Each facial is customized for you and no hidden fees for upgrading. You will get everything you need for one solid rate. Definitely worth the money even though I was fortunate enough to get a certificate. At last! An esthetician that listens to you, educates you and gives your skin what it needs. Amanda is the best!!!! I have been coming here for several years now and my skin has never looked so good. My skin is a lot smoother, I have less wrinkles, I rarely have breakouts and the treatments help to tone down my redness. My skin tone is a lot more even and I never get the dry patches I used to have. I started out getting facials and have now moved up to peels. Amanda is super knowledgeable and always adjusts the treatment to whatever my skin needs. Each session begins with an examination of my skin and then Amanda tells you her recommendations. There is never any pressure to upgrade treatments or buy products here. However, they do carry really amazing skin care lines. In the past I would get facials at random spas that were running specials (I've tried nearly every spa in SD), but never again. I never really understood the benefit of a facial until I started coming here. Bottom line: you are doing yourself a disservice if you get a facial anywhere else. read more

went here last night with a group of my girlfriends for a facial party! the place is very clean, cute & "spa aura" ish with a gorgeous patio view. we all sat outside and munched on our goodies and drank wine michelle provided (so cool!) from her parents winery! michelle (the owner) informed us that we were all going to get different facial treatments because, "one size does not fit all"-which totally makes sense. we all have different skin types so they tailor our facial to our needs! geniussss! i went first and michelle did a consultation with me. i filled out paperwork about the products i currently used and she gave me feedback on them. then the wonderful JOLIE started my facial. she explained every "procedure" she was doing to my face and is very knowledgeable about each skin type and what it needs to heal. i received a MUCH needed microdermabrasion, clarisonic brushing, and an overnight moisturizing mask by Yon-Ka because my face is OVER worked from all the acid serums/creams i use for anti-aging (i was totally over doing it). i left there with a plump, rosy, moisturized, baby smooth face and its brighter and tighter this morning-LOVE IT! i already booked my next 30 minute appointment and cannot wait. i really recommend the diamond head microdermabrasion-it really sloughs off old, dead skin really well! read more

My experience at Surface Esthetics was wonderful. Jolie and Michelle are so warm and personable. They are very very knowledgeable on skincare and treatments. I was greeted by both of them and after I filled out my paperwork, Jolie went over my current skincare routine and products. She did not put down my products in anyway which I found refreshing. Jolie continued to educate me on skin health and informed me of everything she was about to do. The room was warm and inviting and oh...... so comfortable. The actual facial was like no other facial I have ever had. It was amazing. She was thorough and gentle, and my skin felt amazingly soft and it was glowing. She also re-contoured my eyebrows and they look fabulous!!!! I was so happy with the treatment I received. I really liked that they were not pushing their products on me, but educated me on what and why I should be using them.
