I'm surprised they don't hype their shells more in their name and advertising though. I'm somewhat disappointed they charge a 3.9% credit card fee and don't tell you up front. There may be a sign in the establishment but I didn't see it if there was. I will still come back though.

Who doesn't love Beautiful Pink Flamingos. My favorite shopping excursions are in Dania along Federal Highway. There you will pass Alex's Flamingo Groves. For me it's every bit as much fun as going to the Flamingo Gardens. Naturally there's a gift shop. The Coconut Patties stick out in my mind. We never went home empty handed. There were various variety of citrus. Grapefruit being one of my Mothers Favorite. Breakfast in our house always started with a half grapefruit. My favorite were the pink ones. I must have eaten enough in my life. I now have a terrible sensitivity to citrus! To this day Flamingo Groves on line store is my go to for ordering and shipping Florida fruit to family and friends. If there's a rotten piece in the shipment it has been my experience that they promptly send the customer a replacement for the bad pieces of fruit. If you love Orange Juice and Fruits you will not be disappointed. There's a lot to enjoy at this historical tourist location. There's tourist spots to enjoy up and down this stretch of Federal Highway. Go and spend the day. I'm a fan. I'm there in spirit today.........

I really really didn't like this place at all. We went in after dinner at the Beach Place down the street (which was awesome) just to look around and digest the food a little. As soon as we walked in, there were 2 girls standing in the aisles with beach hats on, leaning on the racks as we passed by. They half smiled and I think one of them mumbled a "hey"...nice to see you too. We paced around the shop a little; they have a custom tee/shorts bar where you can pick iron-on designs that they press on to the tees/shorts of your liking. Bathing suits for pretty high prices, and lots and lots of Florida tees, and knickknacks (inflatable beach balls, skin boards, boogie boards, towels, key chains, lighters, etc). They have a pretty odd selection of alcohol as well (wine you find at the drug store at boutique prices). But for the most part, it was a pretty normal run-of-the-mill beach store. Or so I thought. To my dismay...wayyyyy on the other side of the store they had these plaster and wooden carved "rasta"-looking people that sit on your desk... One of them was a man with dreadlocks with his hands clasped together as a CHANGE BOWL (as if all Black people do is sit around and ask for change all day). His lips were HUGE with a BIG ASS smile on his face and a blunt hanging from his teeth. They had a female version of this as well; she had a big ass, huge breasts (which her top barely covered), and also had huge lips and a blunt hanging from her mouth. Both versions were wearing tattered clothing, had closed eyes, and they had over-sized features. To make matters worse, there was another version of these characters... there was another "rasta" man in a reclining position with a banana on top of his midsection; when you lift up the banana, it was a HUGE penis... I mean REALLY!? These are souvenirs that people, BUY and take home?! Needless to say I was EXTREMELY offended and appalled that these were allowed to be sold in this store. Not only are they modern-day glorified Jigaboo characters, but they are really not something that children should be around. I mean, after all- this IS a family store...right!? We just so happened to come into the store with my bf's niece and nephew...both of which aren't even in highschool...they saw these "souvenirs" and were really baffled...leaving us to explain what the hell this stuff was. This put us in a really really uncomfortable situation. I wouldn't go to this store with your children. And if you are offended by racial subject matter, I would avoid this store AT ALL COSTS. Also, mostly everything in this place is way overpriced and you could probably get it down the street for much less. Don't bother. Yeah...Blacklist.

I really enjoyed the insight and long-winded (LOL) talk that staff member Irene shared with us while we were shopping and then waiting out the rain for a bit on June 8, 2024. She was a sweet lady! I needed some touristy items: + Paradise swimsuit coverup/dress = $30 + Lauderdale-By-the-Sea shot glass = $3.99 + Fort Lauderdale Beach magnet = $5.99 + key chains my girls picked out = $3.99 - $4.99 I would go here in a heart to see Irene again. The lazy dude milling around was not friendly or much help. Miss you big, Florida. Credit cards accepted.

I'm corresponding with a great niece who just started an internship in Minnesota -- of all places -- so I thought I'd send some beachy photos. I didn't find the gifts as prices here were astronomical. But I did find my postcards -- and they were very reasonably priced. And if you need one of these, it's a perfect spot. There were a number of visitors shopping while we were there. One guy had previously bought a Hawaiian shirt here and was back again to buy another one (at almost $50!!). The shop is located right on the main street a short walk from the beach. It's a place you have to at least browse into if you're visiting the area. And who knows, you might find something perfect to splurge on -- like an extra bathing suit or sun dress. However, if you have a car and feel like venturing out into the city go a few blocks west of the intracoastal (or north/south on Federal Highway) and you'll hit a bunch of stores with much lower prices.
