Before approaching the Surf Adventures, I looked for other surf classes. Some classes require beginner attend their introduction class before proceeding to a practical class, and the classes are set in different days and charged separately. I found the surfing class in Surf Adventures is a very authentic, price-worthy option for me as a beginner who wants a quick result in learning surfing. Although in the beginning, the Surf Adventures miscommunicated the change of location, the staff reached me right away and committed to giving me a complete 2-hour, fully experienced class despite the class has been delayed for 45 minutes. Patrick is the best, I hurt my foot during surfing and barely can walk, he gave me first-aid and helped me got to my car and made sure I can drive home before he left. I would recommend the surfing class to a beginner.

My son had a great time and staying in one place - not getting in a car to go to another beach - really maximizes their time in the water. It makes me wish I could be a kid in the camp again. I highly recommend the camp.

This camp is fabulous because it's just incredibly loosely structured; the kids get to do some fun games and activities and crafts, and they can surf and boogie board and swim and snorkel and paddle with supervision and expert assistance, and they can also just sit and dig holes all day, and they will get a high five and to pet the camp doggie! There are tons of sunny campers to supervise their all day play and help them all have a great experience. One of my kiddos had a hard time with waves and got scared (we aren't from here so she isn't super down with the ocean yet) and was hysterical, but one of the counselors was there to get her through that fear, offered her a private surf lesson the next day and got her excited about the ocean and she did some surfing and boogie boarding independently! The counselors are super kind and stoked to get all the kids to love the beach. Obvious this would be awesome for any locals, but I will add we came down from Seattle to go to a family reunion thing and we put our kids in this for the week, and it was the most brilliant vacation scheme ever; the kids got a great California experience, the adults got hours every day where we got to be kid free! I would highly recommend this if you have friends planning a summer vacation in SB to suggest they look into if this camp is happening!

He asked me to get into the water without it but I refused and when hopelessly I tried to squeeze myself in a suit that is 3 sizes smaller, it got stuck half way through! I was furious! I told him I want to cancel the class, then he got so mad at me and he literally ditch me in the street in a location I'm not familiar with since I'm just a tourist. Our family of five booked a guided e-bike tour of Santa Barbara last Monday. Four out of the five…read moreof us were nervous about being on the e-bikes. We had never ridden them before and also we were worried about riding around traffic. Our guide, Alex, was very thorough and made sure we had a level of comfort before we left the parking lot. He showed us lots of interesting sights that we would not have seen if we had not taken this tour. I feel like Alex also did a good job navigating traffic and making sure everyone was safe. We called to confirm the credit was still being honored, they were very accommodating. We reserved a space for 2 on a Wednesday for the Sunset Catamaran Sailing Cruise at 6:00PM. There's a meeting spot at the SB Sailing office at the SB Habor. Paid parking is available. We were able to walk from our hotel to the meeting location. Our sail was practically a private sail. There were about maybe the most 14 people, which was so nice. The crew was a Captain and his Assistant, both were very nice Unfortunate Mother Nature did not provide any wind that evening so the Captain had to use engine power that whole evening (it was a very tame ride). The sunset was beautiful glad we did it and it wasn't crowded. I think it worth doing once. Helpful hints: We went May 6th, I wore pants and a long sleeve shirt plus wore a light weight padded jacket and I was fine. It was cold and quit a few of the other passenger were freezing. The sail boat does supply blankets and 2 restroom and drinks and snacks purchase.

My three children "graduated" into this program after about six years each of private/semi-private…read morelessons (year-round) at Wendy Fereday Swim School, so they came to SBSC already knowing the breast, butterfly, free style and backstroke. Our move to SBSC was about increasing their pool time and being part of a team. This is definitely a high performance program and not a play-time at the pool. Meets are competitive and can be intense for beginner swimmers (and parents) until you get the hang of it. That said, this is a controlled environment for young athletes to really challenge themselves and learn about setting goals and accomplishing them even when they "don't feel like practicing today." I guess that would be the self-discipline muscle grouping getting a work out. My husband and I grew up on sports teams so are not squeamish about our kids getting coached and adhering to a structure swim team. I recommend that new parents looking at the program visit a few practices and talk to the coaches first. Other parents are also a resource, so don't be shy about asking them questions also. We purchased a Harbor Parking pass which can be used along the waterfront from Leadbetter to East Beach, so worth the $$$. The surrounding area is the perfect waiting room for parents, so bring your running shoes or bike to work out while your kids practice. At least four decent coffee houses are within walking distance to pass the time and enjoy SB.
