Sealsitters are volunteers that love to share the magic of the Reserve's resident harbor seal colony with our visitors. They love to answer questions and REALLY love smart, curious kids! (They're protective of their seals like parents are of their kids.) Because Sealsitters are volunteers, they're not out all day, every day, but when they are you can spot them by their green jackets or our bright orange shirts. They're often interpreting along the protective cone line (300 feet away from the seals) or, on the bluff overlooking the colony. Don't hesitate to ask questions. They're happy to chat and take photos of you and your friends/family if you'd like!

The center was originally a green-house (hence the name) owned by members of the San Lorenzo Japanese Christian Church. It was later sold and molded into a local shopping center. It is a classic to the area with more history than most know. It has a reputation for being a bit run down but in the recent years it seems that the owners have been making it much nicer.
