Marina is a magician. I brought my wedding dress, which was a sample dress with beading that…read moredesperately needed some love and sizing down, and my reception dress 3 months prior to my wedding day. Marina works so quickly and efficiently that starting 3 months was actually a bit early- 2 months would have been sufficient for me. The first fitting appointment was a bit of a whirlwind so it helped to have additional set of eyes as well as pre-meditation of what I wanted. After the initial alterations, there was only one additional minor alteration needed for my wedding dress. She did an excellent job fixing up the beading, with the overall fit, bustle, and changing the lining, and her prices were more than fair. I did have to ask to try on my dress after the 2nd round of alterations, as that was not part of their usual process. Marina holds onto the wedding dress and steams it right before you pick it up, which should be closer to your wedding day, so plan accordingly. I took my reception dress home after the first alterations, but after practicing for our first dance, I decided I wanted some additional security to keep the strapless dress up. I brought it back to Marina, who easily added an elastic band and clasp to the inside, and I was able to dance away comfortably on my wedding night.

Because there were so many people my appointment got started late (which happens and we didnt have plans after) with a stylist who seemed sort of flustered. I wont name my stylist cause I dont want to be unkind but she seemed confused that I had chosen this shop as my first stop. Im not sure if its well understood that you shouldnt come here if you havent tried on any dresses yet but, it did make me feel like she thought it was a waste of time. Additionally, they didnt have very many styles to choose from. There were hundreds of dresses, for sure, but they were all very very similiar and either A- Line princess dresses with huge skirts, V cut necklines or heavily beaded and embroidered. I was really hoping for mini dresses, something with pleats, two pieces, tiered dresses and more color variation like off white, champagne, cream, blush, etc. I suppose I should have read the reviews.
