Life is not always about how fast you run or how high you climb but often how well you bounce…read more I, my family, cousins and friends have been in thrall to Pickleball for more than a year. We now travel with Pickleball paddles, balls and net. Half Moon Bay cousins invited us to check-out their town's indoor Pickleball court. An offer we couldn't refuse. We met a nice class of people here who were welcoming, friendly, sweet, and helpful Dog- and family-friendly Beginners to experts are welcome here Never underestimate an old woman or old man here with a Pickleball paddle Here is fun, fun, fun When playing outdoors, sometimes a gust of wind here brings your Pickle / wiffle ball to a halt or makes it completely change direction. That's not a problem at their indoor Pickleball court. We left happier than we arrived Class Fees are $2.00 Drop-In or $20.00 for a Picklepass (12 drop-ins) I don't always hang out in 55+ communities, but when I do, they better have Pickleball There can never be too many Pickleball courts I rate 'em 3 stars. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". That to me is an acceptable rating of something that does day in and day out what it is there to do. It's NOT a negative review because doing day in and day out what it is there to do is NOT an easy thing to accomplish. I would've rated 'em higher if they had a Military and Veterans Discount. I say to its ungrateful-to-GIs-and-Veterans City Council, like your Freedom? Then thank Active Duty and Veterans for it with a publicly disclosed everyday Veterans (rare 7% of the population) and GIs (rare 1/2 of one percent of the population) discount. No surprise why Veterans succumb to suicide at a rate twice that of non-Veterans "Nothing is a greater stranger to my breast, or a sin that my soul more abhors, than that black and detestable one, ingratitude", wrote George Washington, Commander-in-Chief during American War for Independence, 1st US President Having an Active Duty and Veterans Discount is clearly an easy and inexpensive way, and a Patriot way, for any business and government to create a positive impression of the business and government among people in and outside of the current and past Military Community. Over and over 95% of current and past Military Personnel and their families say that they notice when companies are "Military-Friendly" and that an Active Duty and Veteran Discount is what gives an immediate and positive first and lasting impression to any business. That also means 95% of current and past Military Personnel and their families notice when companies and government are NOT "Military-Friendly" and when companies and government DON'T have an Active Duty and Veteran Discount and that gives an immediate and negative first and lasting impression to any business. There are many reasons so many people, roughly 8 million, want to live in San Francisco Bay Area. One is that it's some hundred plus of small towns instead of one mega-city. For anyone who appreciates friendly and effective relationships with their neighbors, local businesses and local government, living in a small town is the choice. Many of us have relied on friends and neighbors to help each other out, especially in the past few years. We've certainly learned how important it is to feel good about the community in which you live. Small towns offer a much closer sense of community and local control. Why waste time driving across a big city when you can get wherever you need to be within a matter of minutes? For anyone who doesn't enjoy driving, sitting in traffic or taking long rides on public transit, small towns are ideal. Many small towns have public transit systems so you can get where you need to go within a few minutes, without a car. The pandemic has helped many of us see the benefits of walking or biking over driving. Living in a small town makes it much easier to get where you need and want to go, without relying on public transit or owning a vehicle. Small towns have a lower crime rate Living in a small town also means far less pollution from cars, factories and power plants, resulting in air that is much cleaner. Good for anyone who regularly suffers from breathing issues or anyone concerned about the environmental impact of pollution and wanting to adapt a greener lifestyle. Mega-cities are no different than mega-corporations and their problems for their workers. I've noticed Reno and Sparks governments in Nevada have chosen the mega-city model, and its citizens are suffering from it. They have lower school scores and far higher: cost of living, crime, suicides, mental health issues, homeless, taxes, blight, and infrastructure in need of repair, and pay discrepancy between those in government versus its far lower-income citizens.

I had booked this place with Taylor, (the Recreation Leader) a year prior, as we knew that weddings would be taking over! The place was perfect! Tables were set up on time, and we were permitted to enter and decorate just before our guests arrived. They had a projector and screen that we could use, and we had a fun family "jam" session of acoustic music with musicians on both sides of the family. We used the "Grand Oak Room" and there was plenty of comfortable space for all. Taylor was easy to work with and the event took place without a hitch! Bathrooms were clean and nice. I highly recommend this place for your next gathering!

Finally set something up after 3 months of waiting on their waiting list for 9/1. My daughter was SO happy to finally speak with someone. We waited 3 months for THIS? Now I'm at ground zero with a depressed, vulnerable child who needs a professional NOW! They are so unprofessional!!! Do NOT use them. This center is pretty new having been open since this June, so if you're reading this please help spread the word, and drop by the center sometime if you can, because it's really quite lovely and a looong overdue addition to the San Mateo area.

What's with the negative Yelp reviews?!…read more Jewish Family & Children's Services (JFCS) is an absolutely amazing organization. They offer services to a wide range of individuals in need regardless of their religion, ethnicity, race, age, disability etc. If you are in financial trouble, need a temporary place to stay, or a warm meal they are willing to work with you. They are a truly special non-profit that takes pride in serving the community. I volunteered with JFCS a few months ago after I learned about their Canine Corps program. This is a special program where you train your pooch to pass a test in order to become a canine companion. Once they are trained, the pups visit seniors and other community members. Because let's face it, who doesn't love the company of a pooch?! I worked with my pup Rosie and attended training classes, but unfortunately she did not pass the test :( Rosie is quite the class clown and is easily distracted by the other doggies. I would love to keep working with Rosie so that she can eventually pass the test. Masha and the crew at JFCS are amazing and I would love to work on another project with them. They offer additional volunteer opportunities with holocaust survivors, seniors, adults with illnesses or disabilities, children, and emigres. You can also volunteer to work shabbat dinners, shop for the food pantry, tutor, deliver meals, and the list continues! If you're interested in volunteering there are a wide range of opportunities available to you. I love this organization and I really wish that more people were aware of all that they do. I highly recommend attending one of their events and volunteering with them. Although my pup is not yet a canine companion, we had a great experience attending the training sessions and learning about all of the services that they offer. If you know someone in need or want to lend a hand, do yourself a favor and contact them. You will not regret it!

I am a HUGE fan of Jewish Family & Children's Services! They offer so much to so many people,…read moreregardless of faith, age, ability, race, creed, etc. I think some people are under the impression that because the word "Jewish" is in the title that they only help Jewish people. This isn't the case. JFCS offers services to anyone in need, from therapy/counseling, to support groups, adoption services, all kinds of help for seniors, services for emigres, and much, much more! They are VERY LGBT-friendly, offer excellent training to their volunteers, and the staff is appropriately discreet. So what is my experience with JFCS that leads me to be such a huge fan? I saw a therapist through JFCS for a while, attended a Bereavement Support Group after my beloved grandfather passed away (this particular type of support group is offered as a FREE service!!), and now offer my time as a volunteer through the Seniors at Home program. So, I've been both on the giving and receiving end of JFCS and have only good things to say about this particular organization, which gives so much to so many people and done their part to save so many lives! I heartily recommend their services to anyone, and especially encourage people looking for a meaningful volunteer experience to consider becoming a companion to a senior citizen through the Seniors at Home volunteer program! Yet, when "home care services" are googled, the IOA comes up with very unclear program goals. There is no apparent link to direct contacts for someone who might have an aging parent and want to hire a caregiver. I would not at all feel comfortable in contacting for concern that I might end on an email list offering services that I don't need and don't want. We expressed that we wanted to start having weekend caregivers where one shift would be 12 hour day shift and the second shift would be 12 hour night shift , Allowing 12 hours off shift for both caregivers. Richard's interpretation of that was to move my solid, Grandfathered weekday caregivers to the two weekend shifts and then he hired someone to Cover my weekday and evening shifts. My regular caregivers were confused and upset about their amount of hours being cut and relegated to the weekend shifts that they typically have had off. When my partner and I brought this up to Richard, he argued that we didn't inform him of During that first meeting, Richard expressed that he listens carefully to every clients needs, How they can handle challenging cases, and that they are good at finding specific caregivers for specific cases. Any of the phone communication sort of broke down when I was intentionally meaning to speak with his assistant about the issues, He was overhearing and sort of took over the conversation, which he had done more than once.
