Ok hear me out. We were last minute Christmas shopping in the shoppes at Carlsbad and my hubby decides to stop and get a smoothie while I'm shopping. As I finish in store #3, I stop to regroup with my husband and he tells me "you really need to try a smoothie, it's really good, and service is FAST".... Me, being impatient first said "no"....but my stomach said YES. Now, if you've ever seen the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld...the ordering system is VERY similar so make sure you know what you're getting-the owners don't play games . Service was great and really fast but these are really not smoothies. They're more like milkshakes or dessert drinks. We got the peach mango and the mermaid bay - both were so creamy and sweet we immediately threw them away. Wow I must be late to the game! It took me having kids who love smoothies to try this place. My son ordered the peach mango and I got the peanut butter banana. JUST PURE DELICIOUSNESS. The best place to grab a strawberry banana smoothie hands down! Even after the remodel of the mall, this place was still kicking when most of the stores were gone and I'm really happy to see them back but at a new part of the mall with actual seating. In a sad sense they took over Cinnabons old space and I really loved Cinnabon but I'll take this trade to compliment the loss. There is always a line most of the time but they are quick to prepare your order and get you going. They have tons of other smoothies and healthier options to choose from and even the owner of this place can be found working diligently with the staff to get through the busy rush hour. I have been to different Surf City Squeeze locations. My all time drink is the strawberry-banana smoothie. It still taste the same from when I first had this drink... Years ago at the Plaza Bonita mall in San Diego. There have been a couple times I opted for a different drink- mocha flavored with boba. I have to say I was disappointed. The girl that made the drink put too much powdered mocha. It tasted like it was missing a key ingredient. As far as service is concerned, the girls here are pretty quick. Some are more helpful and knowledgeable than others. I really dislike the girls that give you this uncomfortable blank stare. So the reason why I'm giving one star is because all 3 smoothies that I have bought from this place were complete trash. The first one I bought was the Ginseng Fling, which has protein in it. When I got it it tasted nothing like ginseng and very much like protein powder which also sat at the bottom of the cup. My sister got this other fruit smoothie that ended up being very watery. The third smoothie I just bought today was the Apple and Peach "fresh fruit" smoothie. I was sadly disappointed once again because I'm almost positive they used APPLE JUICE in my smoothie. It's back! I was sad that they were gone for a while since this is the only place I'll get smoothies at. I always get their strawberry banana smoothie, it has that perfect banana to strawberry ratio where it isn't too watery or too thick- and they used condensed milk as sweetner which adds that extra layer of flavor. Sometimes there will be one person working in the little kiosk managing many drinks, sometimes I've seen 3 employees handling a few drinks each. No matter the staffing situation, drinks get delivered quickly. There is a gentlemen that seems to constantly be there (perhaps the owner?) but he is laid back, awesome, and makes a tasty smoothie! Got me hooked on the Power Smoothies! Love the flavor, texture, and added "power"! Who couldn't use more power? Prices aren't horrendous either! Wish it wasn't a kiosk, but rather its own shop. Gets way too crowded around where a line should probably form and the people traffic mixed with the sound of blenders make for loudness of an annoying sort. My 6-year-old son and I ordered 2 smoothies from there at exactly 8:21pm. The girl who helped us went by the name of Lissette. I don't understand what her problem was with everyone ordering. She had a disgusting attitude. We waited for our drinks and she placed our drinks on the counter very aggressively. I asked her co-worker for her name, which is how I know her name. I asked if they had a survey I can fill out or something and to write it down including her name. Lissette came over and told me I can google it. I then proceeded to tell her that I know but I want her to write it down. She then attempted to make a phone call and then hung up and printed the phone number and handed it to me. I then tell her to write down her name. Throughout this horrible experience she told her co-worker "ha, it's going to take a lot for anything to happen". I'm sure her assumption was that I would try to get her fired? I didn't say anything else to her. I know my limit, especially when my kids are around and parents try to teach them how to treat others. I'm sure she'll get herself fired with that nasty attitude. I'm hoping the manager takes into consideration the reviews and complaints of this girl Lissette because eventually he could be dealing with a lawsuit because of an uneducated person.
