This company installed their internet over a week ago. Still not working, no response from Surf. We will call you back today with an ETA of when someone can come out and look at it. No call backs, I have called 4 times asking for an update no updates and no help. Tore up my yard and left a hot pile of mud in my front yard. It's Oct 2019 and I subscribe to the top tier plan paying $99/month for an uncapped 25 megabit down speed max ....yep people that's life living in an area not serviced by DSL and cable. Service has been consistant for the most part with Surfair can't complain about tech support or uptime , but what I do have beef with is the lack of transparancy as to what they're doing to make the service better and bring rural internet more in line with that of it's physical counterparts. 25 mb max at the top tier plan the customer should be put at priority 1 amongst the others and if addtl bandwidth is warrented in an area the company should make efforts to consistantly reach this theoretical max if not increase it. With 5G proposed for the future with theoretically multiple gigabit download/upload and latency as low as 2 m/s. Surfair needs to evolve to stay competitive long term...... I had to call SurfAir many times due to losing internet connectivity intermittently for weeks. My speed tested at 1mbps. Pathetic. And we don't even use any gaming or streaming services. Finally after the fourth service call to my home, the tech recommended we find another provider because they were going to cut off their service to Illinois. Really? So I found another provider, SurfAir picked up their equipment, and we get FANTASTIC service from Xfinity. Curious though, after they told me to find another provider, I read where they were actually expanding in Illinois. I've been a patient customer ever since they bought Freedomnet. They are a horrible company. They will take your call about slow speeds and never fix it. I pay them for 15MB. I've never seen those speeds. Ever. I could even live with 10MB dwn if it was reliable. I get neither. 3MB is typical, often slower. They will blame it on overloaded towers, or something else, and then do nothing. Stay away if you have other options that work for you. They're a carpetbagging company from IN. I have been a customer since it was airbaud. I was unaware that Surf air wanted me to move out of my grandfathered package until they dialed my speed back until I had 400kbs down and 150kbs up. I have been paying $40 a month for this ridiculously slow service for quite a while. They had no problem taking the money but could have communicated to me to get me into an improved package. I'm not super thrilled to be honest. I pay for 1Gbps download speed and haven't seen anything over 30Mbps download. When I run the speed test, my upload speed is significantly faster than my download, which I've never seen before. On top of that, when we signed up, we were told they were doing a promotion. If you sign up for auto pay, you get a $50 gift card. It's going on 2 months. So, I called in about it. The guy had no clue what I was talking about. Said I would receive a call about it and nothing. Surf bought out my previous ISP, Freedomnet here in West Michigan. The change from Freedomnet to Surf went without issue; my service is dependable and has been maintenance free. I recently lost my job of 24 years due to CoVID and was going through all my bills to see where I could save some income and make it through the rest of the summer and ensure my family has internet access. I went to the surf website for the first time to see what a step down in service would cost.. and discovered the plan I was paying for.. the plan I had through Freedomnet at $139.95 a month, only cost $79.95 on the Surf main website! I have paid my bill through the Surf web portal which does not list their prices. I called customer service, and the representative immediately adjusted my bill for June and gave me a pro-rated adjustment to my account.. she then put in an urgent ticket to have an account manager get back to me on this "oversight". Days later of me calling back multiple times, she was finally able to get me through. The manager (Ralf) I spoke with didn't seem as appauled as I or their customer service department were and told me they have 20,000 customers and can't keep track of what they are charging them! I have been paying $55 more a month (the cost of their basic service) for 15 months! Pretty much If only I would have checked sooner?! Still waiting to hear if I'll get a credit ( or even a partial credit).. either way, I'm stuck. There is no competition, they're not listed with the Better Business Bureau, privately owned.. where in any industry would this be an acceptable business practice? Why take care of your customers if you know they have no choice but to simply take it? A tech company that can't track what they charge their customers? I wish they had a zero star review. I have their fiber optic internet. I get 25 percent of the upload and download speeds that I am paying for. They sent someone out to change my equipment and after spending 2 days at my house he admitted he didn't know what he was doing and when he left nothing worked. . I called and recorded my conversation with technical support I could not have talked to a more smug person anywhere. I explained that nothing worked after he left. I was told that wasn't their job their job was to bring internet into my house. I explained my signal is terrible and he said from what he can see is that I have a device that is connected so his equipment must be working. I absolutely hate this company. It is really unfortunate I even have to pick a star for review. This is a zero star company. We have their fiber optic internet and we do not get even close to the speeds that they claim their equipment is capable of. We called for a different package due to how horrible the internet is at our house. We thought if we upgraded the package our speeds would be much better. We were told our equipment was outdated and we would require new equipment to get better speeds. The technician they sent to our home installed the new equipment and left with nothing working. I contacted their technical support group and I was told their responsibility stopped once their internet went into their box. The signal in the house through their router was not their responsibility however after arguing with them for half an hour and after they found out I was recording the conversation they said they would send the technician back out to check over his work to see if something was wrong. Later that night the technician called and said he couldn't make the new equipment work, I was shocked he left and just left equipment that doesn't work in my house. He said he would be back but would like to know what I wanted him to do. I responded I want you to make the internet work in the capacity you are billing me for. I am being charged for 250mb upload and download speeds and I am getting right around 50mb upload and download speeds. We both agreed if he could not make the new equipment work the old equipment should be installed so my daughter could do her homework. He was at my house for over 4 hours the next day, called me and told me he was new and didn't know how to make this stuff work. I told him okay I understand that everyone needs to start somewhere and he should get some help because it is not fair to us to have to pay full price for bad quality and service. I got home and looked and my old equipment was installed. I expected someone would call and come back over and make the new stuff work. I thought the old stuff was reinstalled so my daughter could do her homework. I never got a call. I called their technical support and I was told I need the new equipment to get the speeds I was paying for. I told them I was told by the technician he was new and didn't know what he was doing and asked for someone to show up that knew what they were doing. I was given a ticket number and no one called to schedule a visit to make my equipment work. I emailed them and the response I got was that the technician that has no idea what he is doing was that if my AT&T equipment didn't work it isn't their responsibility. I emailed back that my equipment doesn't get the speeds I was promised yet again. I got no reply. This is a service for rural people, there is no one that if they had the opportunity for cable internet would even touch this internet. Everyone also has satellite dishes for tv due to the fact this is what works out here. The AT&T service that they were talking about is the on demand for Dish network and Direct TV. How can a company not know how to make a service work where 90 plus percent of their people have that very service? I would encourage everyone to read the yelp reviews for this company. They all say the same thing. This is the absolute worst customer service company we have ever spoken with, and the reviews say the same thing. Most of the time people leave a negative review for a bad experience however what does it say when multiple people leave a negative review. In google you will see a response from the owner. I am also posting this on google. I would invite the owner instead of leaving a response to fix my problem. If my problem is fixed there is not a need to respond because I will delete the review. If you are reading this and it is still up that means the owner did not initiate a fix to my problem. Was on the unlimited 20mbs plan. Always losing connection and speeds were barley enough to run one comp or one TV streaming Netflix. I called customer service too see what was going on. The first tech confirmed I was dropping packets and only had 2.7 mbs download. She escalated the problem to upper tech support. They called me back three days later and told be that my speeds were good all along and that I must have so much malware on my computer that it was taking all of my bandwidth. They had me check my speed and there it was, 18mbs download! I was like..cool! the very next day it was back to 2.7 mbs and has been there since. Canceled my service and now with Frontier. read more

Technicians are uneducated regarding WiFi technology, constant drop outs and loss of service for minutes up to hours. There is a tower in my back yard. I have security cameras, laptop for my job and stream line tv. My speeds are at max 8 mbs, I get constant drop outs on my devices due to speeds under 1 mbs all for $70/month. I have sent over 50 emails to support, called them over 50 times and get the same results....unplug your modem for a minute and wait. No results! I would not recommend this company if you rely on steady service and dependability. Im finally bailing out after a year of frustration and switching to a company that I don't like but the product is good. I know, my son has it! A home netgear router, no satellite, no cables, the router picks up the signal directly off of nearest tower. 5 bar signal, up to 400 mbs, minimum 40 mbs, no throttling and the same cost as Surfair Wireless; oh, and I had the these problems with Surfair before Covid so no excuses. When it works it's great, but since surf air took over csinet it has gotten increasingly unreliable. The Wanatah tower goes out around the same time most evenings. Usually when your streaming a show or movie. And at random times throughout the day right at the time you need to use it. I've tried unhooking all routers and disconnecting any wireless devices that could be interfering, and running straight from the modem but it doesn't change anything, so it's definitely on their end. Previously there was no other option for internet, but now Netnitco is in the area so maybe some competition will help them get their act together and upgrade their system or whatever they need to do. read more

I've had problems with this internet speed for years and the internet speed varies, sometimes down loads speed might be 23 to nothing. I've also talked to a couple of other people that have surf air and they have the same problems. They keep sending out tech's probably about 20 times over the year's and nothing ever changes. 100.00 a month for crappy internet! I called to find out about the process for ending my service with them, and due to a misunderstanding, cancelled one day late. I called for tech support one day and told them that I was losing all of my packets and the girl told me that she could not check into it because my payment was not received yet. We have been a loyal customer to them for over 7 yrs now through all the company name changes in all. CSINET has great speed for us in the county however their customer service and infrastructure needs work. When Union Mills had the grain silo explosion, CSINET tower was first reported from CSINET customer service reps that the tower was on top of the silo and that they were working to restore our Internet service with a few days. They then said that they were not going to provide credit for down time due to a clause within the service agreement. I find this interesting and a poor choice on their part since they installed it on top of a grain silo that is at risk of blowing up anyway. It took customers to call in and threaten them that if they did not credit for down time, they would initiate a class action suit or individual suit against them before they came out with a script that indicated they would credit everyone for the month of July. That's great but you already made everyone mad and created a lot more drama than there should have been. There are some of us that have VOIP for phones. This is a service of phone connection through the Internet like Vontage or what service that CSINET has. Since the service went down for two plus weeks now, we have not had phone service either. This is unacceptable. When it comes to paying for now phone service CSINET says that they are not going to provide anyone credit for this service since it was our choice to go to Vontage rather than CSINET's service. What a crock of crap. Because there is no competition in the area for Internet services, CSINET seems to think that they can do what ever they want to and the customer has to suck it up or not have any service at all. CSINET needs to fix their customer relation problems and provide an infrastructure that is not put in high risk locations. Their arrogance over the phone when you call is unacceptable and needs to be fixed. We've been with Surf Air Wireless (formerly CSI) in LaPorte County for 7 years now with mixed success. The service: when it works, it's great. We're paying for 15 Mbps, and our speed (again, when it works) runs right at 14.5 to 15.5. The service techs - When I've called, they've responded very promptly. Many times they can diagnose and 'fix' the problem from a distance, and within about ten minutes of the call, everything is back to speed. When they've had to send out a repair tech, it's invariably within a day or two, and the techs have been polite, efficient, knowledgeable - in other words, everything you'd hope for. They fix the problem quickly, explain what they found and what they did, and leave. The problem: The service is sporadic, and the tech repair hours are limited to normal business hours. Which means that when the service quits on a Saturday afternoon, you're stuck with no internet until at least Monday morning. And which also means if you're working on a project with a limited turnaround, you're just out of luck. This has happened to me many times now, and it's simply unacceptable. But Surf Air is not about to extend their service hours because they realize that in LaPorte County there's simply no alternative. If an internet provider would ever expand into LaPorte County, customers would abandon Surf Air in droves. Come on, Surf Air - you can do better. Indeed, you owe it to your faithful customers to do better. read more
