Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! A new back porch, new door…read moreand lock meant we needed duplicate keys for kids and spares. The local Ace hardware was unable to make keys as they didn't have a comparable blank. They even checked Lowe's to see if they carried them. No such luck. I searched on line thinking I could take a key to their shop which was one of the few near me at 40 miles away. After explaining my dilemma the gentleman (Forgive me for not getting names) asked that I send him photos to see what we were dealing with. I took pics with key along side a ruler for more detail. After he looked the pictures over, he said he didn't have that size. Said he would call back after checking some things. Soon got a callback from a woman this time (could hear him in background) who told me that the lock and key were from Great Britain which uses a different measure a bit larger than ours. They had kindly looked up the website for the name on the key. Although not knowing the translation of pounds to dollars the prices were not cheap. Since the key number written on the key had been smudged when trying to make copy at Ace, they suggested I might find the number I needed inside the lockset. I could take it apart or I could have the gent drive here and do it for around $300. The assured me that it was a simple thing and led me through the process over the phone. That was the best could could do other than suggestions on what to ask from my contractor or what I might want to order from the key company. I bet I spent 45 minutes or more on the phone with them. All the while the man needing to leave for a job, but we were using his cell phone. Thanks for being so patient. I tried to give them my mailing address for a bill, but I was waved off as just customer service. Are you kidding me? They were so helpful and kind I would have gladly paid. If I ever need new locks, these are the people I will deal with! You should too. Locke's is the Best!

You told me that because I didn't buy one for you, it's not any good (paraphrasing) , and therefore not worth looking into. Come to find out? You put the wrong battery in it. It required a 2032- you installed a 2016. Simple mistake, but that's not my problem. My problem wasn't that you put the wrong battery in, my problem is you were arrogant enough to refuse the possibility of an error on your part. A second look and probably 30 seconds would have told you what the problem was, and now everybody wouldn't be reading about how you refused to look at a battery because you thought you were right

I…read moredon't understand why, but I can only assume it was because I wanted a quote (and he wanted to know if needed service or not). That was how far we got before HE hung up without saying bye, thank you, or let us know if we can help. I'm deciding to bypass this company just based on the his condescending tone and dismissive attitude. I rated a 2star to be fair since he did respond quickly. Update: After leaving a review about my experience with this company. I received a phone call from a completely different number (possibly the same guy) asking me to remove a review since I was not a customer. I assumed he was calling on behalf of another company since he said, they "locksmiths?" are a close-knit community and that he's asking me nicely to remove it (again, possibly the same guy). So, I go back to look at the messages and I notice a picture of the same guy for 2 different companies. Like, what type of scam is this? (Ok, more than likely the same guy) To be fair, this guy wasn't rude, he used please thank you and even told me to have a good day before WE ended the call. It was the type of conversation I wish we'd had the first go-around. Ha, go figure. I've attached a photo of both companies. (Ok, it's definitely the same guy) I want to reiterate that I am NOT a customer and I chose NOT to use their services and I won't use the clone company's services either. Good customer service doesn't start when money exchanges hands, it starts from the moment someone interacts with your business. The fact that I am not a customer doesn't negate your responsibility to treat me kind and with respect. Sir, I wish you the best moving forward.

This lock was extremely jammed due to my own user error. Within minutes Yan was able to get the lock back in working order. Feeling very luck right now!! He even gave us some great tips for our cycling trip in the U.P. What a great guy!!

After a few warm days it became obvious that this was not the case. I called Ames and Ryan was at my building in less than an hour! He was also very thorough, making sure to ask if the building had a master key system which he should account for. I hope I don't need a locksmith again any time soon, but I will definitely call Ames if I do. By the way, they also offer locksmith services and key programming for cars. That could save you a lot of money by avoiding a tow to the dealership.

Despite advertising emergency service, and calling well within posted "business hours", after more than 24 hours I still have not had any response. This was the case for all three local locksmiths I called on a Saturday. My mom had a doorknob fail on a kitchen door between her back door and the main part of the house. This locked her out entirely. She is injured and preparing for surgery Monday, so it was particularly concerning to have her stuck outside. Ultimately, a friend was able to come by to remove the trim and get it open with a credit card for her. I moved to the state of Oregon 20 years ago, so my number is no longer a local area code. Despite calling for (and clearly noting) I needed help for a home in Toledo, perhaps this played a role? Or they could not come anytime soon and couldn't be bothered to just call to say as much? No idea. All I know is they not only did not have a prompt response, but I got no response whatsoever. Certainly, can't get behind that. Hope you do better than we did if you're ever in a bind. ------------------ Updated 5/8/22 to provide phone log photo as requested. Detailed message was left. Not sure what happened with their messages. Sometimes phones are just weird, it does totally happen in life. It sounds like it was a busy day for them. Of the locksmith options I found, I would still try calling them again - I didn't get ANY responses. So bizzarre. But based on my experience trying 3 local providers, all with good reviews; If you need someone ASAP - and especially if you have to leave messages - definitely call multiple companies to be sure someone calls back. And it sounds like calling again is smart if you are ever stuck waiting around without any responses. I haven't needed an emergency locksmith for 15 years, so this was certainly a reacquaintance/learning experience. I've learned something useful about how to best get in contact with one! Don't avoid this company because of this; just cast yourself a wide net of inquiries and then don't worry about calling them (or anyone else) again if you are in a more urgent situation and need help.

It came off in my hand the minute I tried to turn it. He didn't have the nerve to ask for any kind of payment. The part on my outside, front door handle meant to be pressed by the thumb would not move. Seems to me like it needed proper, internal lubrication. He immediately said an internal part was broken and needed to be replaced. First thing he did, after he had difficulty removing the inside door knob, was to strip a screw when he tried to take the mechanism apart. Soon after, it started to work properly, because it needed, as I suspected, some lube. Now, it just needed to be put back together. He tried for more than an hour, but could not figure out how to put it back together. He jerry-rigged it so the handle looked like it would stay on. It did not. A follow-up call to another locksmith turned out that a spring was somehow lost in the disassembly of the door knob. In any event, a complete replacement will be necessary at the cost of several hundred dollars. I should have known the fellow from Speedy was dicey when he immediately decided without much looking that a part replacement was needed. After he failed to get the knob back on, he hemmed and hawed when I asked if he could replace the entire thing. Clearly, he did not want to tackle that project. In his defense, he's a nice guy. Speedy may be just fine for unlocking car doors, but for anything more involved, I would look elsewhere.
