Traveling thru Tifton tonight and all the chains had blah ratings so thought I would give this place a try since it had great recent reviews. I ordered the special with was a loaded ground beef bowl with rice, black beans, lettuce, red onions, black olives and sour cream. It came with chips and a drink. They were out of Coke so I got sprite. I did grab some mild salsa from the salsa bar. Not sure if I came in on an off night but I was the only person. Dining in. They had 4 people working. Took them a long time to ring up my order but got seated and it was just ok. Nothing at all special. The tables and floor not the cleanest and as I ate I noticed the workers behind the counter running their hands thru their hair. Just have me a ick vibe. Surcheros was a great discovery, conveniently located just off 1-75. I was traveling from Florida to Indiana and looking for something other than fast food. There are so many choices on the menu! I ordered a vegetarian burrito bowl, and there were many topping options to choose from. All the ingredients were very fresh. I also ordered a cup of cheese sauce, and it was smooth and delicious. Employees were friendly and helpful. The salsa bar was very clean and I tried the mold salsa and the spicy garlic. The mild salsa was very good, and the spicy garlic salsa was excellent! I would return for this tasty salsa alone. If I lived here I would definitely be a regular. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area. Highly recommend! read more

A small regional chain that patterns itself after Chipotle's successful formula. They offer burritos, bowls, etc. put together by employees in an assembly line format. The place is good, far better than other local chain Barberito's, boasting fresh tasting food that offers a relatively healthy component. They have a good selection of toppings, but sadly don't give you an option of either white or brown rice. They give you chips with your order and boast a small salsa bar. The salsa are ok, nothing stellar, but good. It is also convenient for travelers on 75, just a few minutes off the highway. As a recap, I recommend here, good food at a decent price point and fast service. Next time you are traveling 75 in the Tifton, Georgia area, get off the highway and try it. Just remember when you see Barberito's, that a far better choice is just around the corner. read more

We decided to finally give in after seeing all the advertisements for Surcheros and stopped by to pick-up a quick dinner. I, obviously, ordered online and anxiously waited for us to arrive. Our order was ready 15 minutes earlier than the time we were given. Because we were early, we were there when our food was finished, but it would have been disappointing had the food been sitting there for 15 extra minutes before we got there (assuming we went by the pick-up time we selected). We ordered Grilled Steak Burritos with Cheese Dip inside ($11.27 each) The burritos had a nice griddle mark on them, but otherwise fell a little flat. We paid extra to have cheese dip poured on the inside and I am almost positive neither of us got any. There was also really sloppy construction. The burrito was cold, despite the griddle marks, and mine had all of the guacamole and sour cream on one end. I literally got a mouthful of sour cream which wasn't pleasant. The grilled veggies were good and we got those as they come with the vinaigrette. The burrito was also just an underwhelming size, albeit we get them without rice, but it still felt small. The biggest aggravation was from the burritos not being marked. We ordered two almost identical burritos, but I wanted mine with jalapeños. So when we got our containers and opened them up there was no way to tell which had the jalapeños and which did not. This was not too great of an exercise for either of us as hubs kept anxiously taking bites to see if he had the correct one without jalapeños. I wasn't overly impressed. While the online ordering and ability to customize was great, we didn't really end up with what we wanted anyway. read more

Better than Chipotle! We stopped here on a road trip as they are just off the freeway. They were having dine-in service and tables were distanced. The concept is very similar to Chipotle, you line up and watch them make your food down the assembly line. There are way more options to choose from to put in your meal such as fresh chopped jalapeno, mushrooms, etc. I got the chicken burrito and filled it with all my favorites. The best part is that it comes with 2 scoops of either sour cream or guacamole for no extra charge! The other thing that separates this place from Chipotle is that they put your burrito on the grill after it is stuffed, giving it a crunchy outside that is awesome! There is also a self-serve salsa bar with a variety of salsas and lime. read more

Update-they very quickly responded to my review which says a lot about this South Georgia chain. They mentioned that they'll be opening soon in Macon. Even though I don't live in Macon, it's getting a little closer to Atlanta. Was aiming for Barberito's for a quick lunch stop but saw their billboard and decided to check out the reveiews. I'm glad we found the place. We'll remember the place for future trips down I-75. The four of us all got something different and all liked what we got but my quesidilla had way too little cheese to go with the toppings so it couldn't be eaten by hand as it wouldn't stick together. Reading the Yelp reviews and then walking into Surcheros, I was really expecting a great experience. Walking in, you see the assembly line with lots of ingredients. I'm thinking that this has the making of a great meal. Turns out the whole is less than the parts. I ordered a steak bowl. My wife ordered a chicken bowl and my son ordered a chicken burrito. The 3 of us agreed that we really didn't care for the rice. The meats were chopped too fine. The meats got lost with all of the other flavors. On the positive, there are a ton of different toppings to choose. You can make your meal have almost any flavor. Nice that they also provide you with a side of chips. The salsa bar is a bit weak. For those familiar, I would rather do a large assorted hot sauce bar like Tijuana Flats. Lastly we were charged .29 cents each for water cups. I have eaten at this Surcheros several times, and often eat at this same chain in Kingsland and Waycross, GA. Usually I get very good service, but received very poor service at the Surcheros in Tifton, GA, at about 4:00 PM on December 27, 2024. I asked for several items to be placed on the grill before being added to my burrito bowl, and normally the preparer puts on the grill for at least a minute or two. The young man preparing this meal put it on the grill, let it stand for maybe 10 seconds, if that, and then put it in the bowl. The order was for dine-in, but it was prepared as take away. I also noticed that the medium salsa, which is my favorite, was empty. Finally, there was no soap anywhere in the men's restroom, which leaves me to wonder -how to the employees wash their hands after going to the bathroom??? And what made it worse is that it was a very slow time; there were maybe four other customers in the establishment when I entered, and they all had been served. On top of that, I counted at least five Surcheros employees, who seemed to have little else to do but stand around and talk. If I was the owner of this franchise, I would be very upset at having so many employees who had so little work to do and seemed to be severely inconvenienced by providing good customer service. read more

We were driving home from Florida to Atlanta and saw a billboard advertising Surcheros and decided to stop by. Amazing vegan options! I got the spinach tortilla and filled up on tons of fresh ingredients that aren't available at the other chains like Chipotle or Moe's. I never bother going to any of them anymore because the vegan options are so bland. Plus, guacamole here isn't an up-charge like all the others. This meal was amazing! Stopped on our way to Florida. Like a Qdoba or Chipotle, but fresher. You can add a squeeze of lime to your burrito and there is a salsa bar so you can try different types. I inadvertently ordered the special of the week, a chicken burrito, and got my drink for free. We also noticed when we came in the health inspection report showed they had a 100% - that was reassuring! The only thing I would say could be improved is another set of bathrooms.
