I tried this restaurant for dinner on a Sunday evening on my way to the airport. This counter service style restaurant is similar to chipotle or Qdoba, but the food is much better. The decor was modern and bright with white booths and black accents. They had plenty of seating, it was quiet and they had a clean dining room. The attendant who helped me was professional and answered my questions. I had the steak salad, and it was very large and delicious. I also had the s'mores quesadilla, which was unexpectedly good. The meal the portion size was large enough that I had plenty of leftovers to take with me. They have a fresh salsa bar and a soda fountain after you check out. Simply Yes!! Mom and I decided to try Surcheros out for the first time for lunch. Soooo tasty!! For context it's similar to Moes + Chipotle -- choose your base, protein + toppings. The staff were so nice and answered all of our questions. I opted for the loaded steak quesadilla + mom had a loaded burrito bowl with ground beef. For clarity, loaded just means you can add as many toppings as you like! & we did just that! After paying for our food, we found a booth inside to indulge. It was a very calm restaurant with medium noise level. Self serve salsas + sodas. The only reason I gave 4 stars was due to the salsas -- only 1 tasted good (the spicy one) the rest were subpar with no flavor or watered down. I definitely say give it a try!! Food is usually good, but tonight I walked in, waited and left. The last few times I've driven through Macon, I've stopped here and the food has been consistently good. But the last few times it seems there's two or three Brady Bunch families ahead of me in line, followed by the fact that they have tons of to go orders that seem to be prioritized above people that are standing in line. As you can imagine, it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get through the line in this place. And unfortunately, the food isn't that great for that kind of wait. The last time I was here, my quesadilla was almost burned on the outside from sitting on that grill that looks like it's never been cleaned before. That was another turnoff tonight. I might have to rethink my dinner choices in Macon, and just go back to Chick-fil-A. read more

Decided to try this place for dinner. I guess I came at a busy time becot took about 20 minutes to get my food. I decided to get a taco salad. The tortilla bowl was fairly fresh. The chicken was good, and I enjoyed the option to choose multiple veggies. I didn't know you could ask for things to be grilled until it was too late, but I wish they advised that as an option. I wanted to give a quick update. The store manager did call me in regards to the poor behavior from their employee. I accepted their apology and have moved on. Waited in line for 20 minutes and no it wasn't busy. It was EMPTY. Girl on register SUCKS... I haven't ever seen someone take 5 minutes to ring 1 thing. She then tried to give me yellow cheese when I wanted white. Then proceeded to tell me I don't get extra chips when ordering queso. The burrito bowl comes w chips and salsa. Therefore if I order queso I need more than 5 chips in a bag. So she tried to charge me for those too. Even though I had already paid 16$ for a half empty bowl. Additionally this stunt over me asking for a few extra chips ended up holding up the rest of the line longer. I will be taking my business to chipotle. read more

I am a huge Surcheros fan, but this is the worst location I have ever been to - BY FAR!! I stopped by on my lunch break one day, and it took 45 minutes to get my food. There were only 10-15 people in front of me. One of the workers left to answer the phone and another one was "mopping" in the kitchen the entire time - leaving 2 people making orders! I witnessed at least 5-10 people leave because they were moving so slow. I chose to wait it out... only to find that half of the veggies were "out". A terrible experience, and I will NEVER go back to this location. They have an opportunity here, because a lot of people want to like it... but the service was absolutely terrible. read more

This was my favorite restaurant and every Sunday night while I travel to Savannah I would stop and eat. Staff has progressively gotten worse. This is the most disorganized restaurant I have ever been to. It is such a shame because the food is so good however, I had plastic in my salad this last time I was there, so I think I'm finally done. It took over 35 minutes to get through the line and they were two people in front of me. It has become a ghetto restaurant that has so much potential. Great food, multiple bad drive thru experiences. The food is always fresh and prepared the way you like it IF YOU GO INSIDE. Sadly, if you place an app order to be picked up through the drive thru it's an absolute crapshoot as to what you'll get in your bag. We have only gotten the exact food we ordered once. About 60% of the time, they leave out something, including entire side orders. For a restaurant who's whole business model is based on providing a customized meal, getting the order right should be paramount. First world problems, right? Well, it is when you're dead on your feet after a 12 hour shift with two under two in the backseat and you just want some good food. The food tastes good enough that we will go back, but only if we have time to go in. read more

Ate here yesterday at 7:20PM, three of us. Have eaten here quite a few times (of late only at others people's choosing), and have never had an experience when every aspect (service, food, cleanliness) was good. It has always been something. Last night was terrible. Work station was filthy. Dropped meat and toppings were everywhere on the working surface. Bag of cheese opened, dispensed, then thrown onto the floor while we were standing in line. Every trash can was overflowing with refuse just piled on top. Not one tabletop was cleaned. I cleaned one myself. No soap in one bathroom and no paper towels in the other (I used one and my wife used the other). The workers don't run the assembly line efficiently. Probably ten people in line total. The meat, beans, and rice was portioned onto all ten orders before assembly started. Ours sat there close to ten minutes getting cold before assembly started. They put our two quesadillas on the grill while assembling our burrito. I knew the quesadillas were burning and when pulled I was proven correct. One worker looked at my wife like she was insane when she said they were burned. She asked for new ones and he just stared. A different worker made new quesadillas. Wife's burrito ended up burned but that was while we were paying so didn't see it before we got to the table. She ate it anyway. Needless to say new quesadillas were not burned but cheese not melted. We ate them anyway. All salsa bowls empty except for one. Pretty bad experience. read more

TERRIBLE staff. I have never been treated so rudely for no reason, and they weren't even busy! I stopped to pick lunch up at around 215 today and was the second to only person in the restaurant. The employee helping me with my order seemed to be in a bad mood and actually yelled at me when I had to ask her to repeat herself. She continued to bark orders at me and I actually felt I needed to apologize to her because of my hearing loss. The two other employees working we're looking at each other and laughing. My first bone to pick comes with ordering through the app and picking up in the drive thru. I have kids, so the convenience of ordering online and having a drive thru vs. having to park and go inside is a huge plus. Unfortunately, I have visited when my order was ready on time, and I've visited when I have literally sat in the drive thru for 20+ minutes. At the point where the car at the window is waiting on food for whatever reason, the right thing for an employee to do would be to ask them to park and they could bring the food out. Very annoying to make all the other customers in line wait for no reason. One time the line refused to move after at least 15 minutes, and I was afraid our food would be cold, so I had to park and go inside. When I went inside, there wasn't a soul eating in there and the employees seemed completely apathetic when I asked for my order. Not a single apology or reason for the why line was so held up. My second bone comes to the fact that I discovered just this week that I am continuously being overcharged for cheese dip. Every time I order a large cheese dip, the store gives me a small and a medium, saying they're out of large cups but this amount equals a large. Low and behold - if you add up a small and a medium on the app, it's cheaper than a large! Glad to know I've been paying more for no reason. I also don't like that they charge 80 something cent for chips with your cheese dip, especially when they are already stingy with chips in the first place. Who is ordering large cups of cheese dip and doesn't want chips? Are they eating it with their hands? When ordering from Moe's or the local Mexican restaurant down the street, I get chips galore. But this location seems to only be allowed to give you 10 chips per meal. My last straw, and reason I'll be skipping it for a while, is the fact that I came home today after visiting the drive thru and find that my side of surcheros sauce is missing and my tacos are missing sour cream. One star for the fact the food actually tastes good. They just have a lot of issues to work out in my opinion. read more

First time trying. Won't eat here again. Almost identical to Moe's. Surcheros does have more topping choices, and I liked that they had mini nachos, which I ordered. It was the most tasteless meal I've eaten in quite a while - considering I got fresh jalapeños on the nachos. Service line workers were not very friendly. 9/11 7:35 pm. Food is fine or above fine - service is poor. I waited 15m in the mobile order window with me able to see 4 workers and none would make eye contact to acknowledge I was there. I had to blow my horn. You have to purposely ignore the car because I can see clear into the cash drawer what monies are given and the type of change given back. Very unhygienic n broken.. we went for supper got a table my mom tried to pull the chair after sitting n it was broken there was a nail or something sharp which hit her on her nail... request for a bandaid n none of the staff was interested so had to ask for the manager however she was not available and the in charge on shift came. Informed her about the whole situation and she was horribly smiling. That is very offensive. My mom was about to pass out as her blood pressure dropped, she was like u can take her to hospital or call paramedics our company insurance will help, but there was no apologies and she ignored me and started to work. Some people need to learn how to be apologetic and not smile merrily in situations. I really need someone to address the issue. At this point if I could give negative stars I would. I ordered the food- surcheros nachos- online and paid prior to getting in line. There were a few people in front of me but imagine my surprise when FOURTY FIVE MINUTES LATER I am still in line- no food. When I asked about the delay I was told that "they ran out of chicken". They didn't offer to reimburse me, give me a coupon, let me talk to a manager or anything. I WOULD NOT recommend this place as I have still yet to receive my food almost AN HOUR after the time it was promised. HIGHLY DISSATISFIED!!!! Surcheros, you just lost a customer. The food is always good but the service can be poor at times especially if you get there soon after they open. I think they need to bring in at least one more worker for the opening hour. The prices are also the highest of the burrito places in Macon. read more
