I'll start it off, rude customer service, immediately tell something is up. Ask for a bowl, ok that's fine I get my bowl. Pitiful portions, so bad I ask for extra rice and beans to compensate for my lack of food. Proceed to get charged an extra $2 for extra rice and beans on top of asking for a tip shoved in my face. I was almost set aback at this as rice and beans are the cheapest thing in a Mexican restaurant. Screw this place, I won't be going back when there are cheaper and more tasty places nearby. I hope this place fails even though the location and ambiance are nice. When managers start cutting corners, they're losing money in the long run by losing customers. I remember when this place would load up bowls, not anymore. Just took my first bite of my bowl, my chips were stale. The rice was undercooked and nearly cracked a tooth, and the ground beef had zero flavor and tasted like shit. All on the first bite. read more

I made an order here, waited two hours for it, and never received it. The staff is rude and apparently can't keep up with their work, which may not be their fault if the company has them extremely understaffed but that is not my issue. I went back a second time three months later to give it a second chance, and will never come back. This is the worst surcheros I have ever been to and all the workers act like they hate people. The tables are all dirty and it was hard to find a place to sit. There are crushed chips all over the floor and sauce spilt everywhere, there was no one else in line and it took me 20 minutes to get my order made because they were focused on online orders and told me they were behind making food. From now on I will drive the extra 10 minutes to go to the Surcheros on Epps Bridge. Ridiculous. read more

Pretty good burrito bowl. The staff were chill and service was quick. The restaurant appears clean so that's a plus.

I would rather defecate in my hands and clap before I come back here. I just got one of the worst burritos I have ever had. I ordered on the app and didn't get a single thing that I asked for. The burrito was quite literally just meat (maybe 5 pieces of chicken) lettuce and rice. I guess they were out of the things I ordered, but I wish they would have just canceled the order and refunded the money. I went in to grab my take out while my roommate was in line ordering his. The workers had zero sense of urgency and looked like they wanted to spit in my food. Something needs to be changed in the training process or just hire a whole new staff. read more

Another alternative to the chipotle/moes/willy's tex-mex restaurants. I didn't find anything here to be revolutionary besides the fact that they have different flavors of tortillas like chipotle and spinach. The 12" burrito I got came with chips (and free salsa) and was $10.47. But the ingredients here were much fresher than alternative restaurants so I would say the prices was justified! The tortilla's were raw from a store bag. No cooking at all. They tasted raw and gummy. Salsa needs some taste added as it was very bland. The dessert looked good on the picture, but same gummy tortilla, crushed graham crumbs, a squirt of chocolate syrup and mini marshmallows, all cold. Place was clean. read more

Love this place! Comparable to Chipotle - Although I feel like this is so much better. Lots of veggie options and some are finely chopped which is nice. They also give you the option to grill veggies. This is my new go to place when I want a burrito! They have a mini burrito which is perfect if you can't finish the typical burrito size. Surcheros- Heard about this on Atlanta Eats and so when I looked and they were coming to Athens, I kept my eyes open for the opening date. Tried it this week. The veggies are fresher than most similar places. And the variety is good. I didn't LOVE it like I wanted to but it is DEFINITELY better than the other places with similar concepts (Barberittos, Moes, Chipotle). I'll try it again and get something different next time. read more

Surcheros used to be my go to in Athens. This being said, I was nothing but disappointed this last time. The staff there seems to have managed to mess up one of the easiest foods to make. The portions of the toppings I picked were terrible, there was a minuscule amount of meat provided and an absurd amount of sauces. in addition to this, my burrito was wrapped so terribly it fell apart the second I tried to bite into it. I may give this place another try but I have to say that this recent experience has forever tarnished surcheros for me. It's a real shame. read more

They didn't even fold my burrito. The disrespect. My burrito was plopped face down in my to-go tray in a wet, soggy, sour cream covered heap. The disrespect that I was shown from not only the workers but the disrespect the workers showed to their craft in general was a sad sight to behold. My SIX small sorry excuses for chicken were strewn randomly through my burrito by one of the most miserable workers I have encountered in my dining career. The bozo at the checkout counter had the audacity to charge me for double chicken! There's more. When I asked for a small amount of sour cream, I received 2 heaping spoonfuls of wet goop. The disrespect. I was hungry, so I unfortunately resigned to eat my $16.50 sour cream wrap. At least the stale chips were free. Sitting here now, after going to war in the bathroom for 2 hours with sour cream dripping down my shirt, I am flabbergasted by this sorry excuse of a dining establishment. I had a long day working my 9-5 trying to provide for my family; my boss yelled at me, my kid got suspended from school, and my wife is thinking of leaving me. I work my tail off to provide for my family, and as a man I feel it is my duty to provide for my family, so I went to the nearest restaurant (sadly it was surcheros). My family told me that it was one of the worst meals they have ever tasted in their entire lives and I am a failure that can't even give quality food to my family. This was 2 months ago, since then my wife has cheated on me and taken full custody of the kids because "I CANT PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY" I would like to THANK surcheros for this great position I am in right now where I am a 35 year old sitting alone in my house with a 25k per year salary and not a single reason to live other than the fact my dog still loves me. WITH THAT BEING SAID... when my family rejected the terrible food from here my dog DID IN FACT EAT IT. So basically if you want your family to leave you and your life to fall apart then please eat here, or if you want overly expensive dog food this location is another nice option. read more

Would 11/10 recommend eating at this place before today. For the passed few months, my friends and I have LOVED the atmosphere at Surcheros and their delicious menu (especially the queso and burritos!!). Today, however, the worker that adds the toppings to the food items decided to let my friend and I sit and wait for 5 minutes while he did the mobile orders before ours. Clearly irritated after standing in line for the 15 minutes prior and being completely ignored, he proceeded to talk and point at us to his coworkers and other customers about how we were "acting like a-holes." He finally added the toppings on my friends burrito, and then stepped away for a brief second. When he came back, I was giggling about something completely unrelated, and then he asked me "what's so funny" and then proceeded to messily place my toppings on my burrito out of disrespect. This fun, Mexican place definitely just went from being one of my favorite places in Athens to somewhere I do not plan on going to anymore. Pretty upsetting. read more
