Essentially, you pay for the healthcare you need. This is an excellent practice for people who cannot easily afford medical insurance and are shut out of our healthcare system. For myself, I enjoy the fact that The practice is personable and accessible, and I never have a difficult time getting an appointment when I needed it. I think many more people should be considering medical practices such as evolve, yet I still do not find that many. The closest analogy is somewhere like Care first, however, Care first is less of a medical practice run by one doctor and more of a mass healthcare system. Evolve is a medical practice, with an excellent doctor, competent staff, and a pay as you go approach.

I was in severe pain for years after having everything reversed because I had a colostomy bag and an ileostomy bag I hadn't healed inside yet. however, when a certain person got into the White House, he started to attack anyone who was on pain medication so a Pharmacist at CVS pharmacy called him accused me of Doctor shopping because I had so many opioid medication's feel over a couple tears time. At this point I've been in the hospital over 30 times and when you're in the hospital, you don't get the same attending or hospitalist doctor and when you're discharged, they always gave me a prescription for pain medication 98% of the pain medication I never got filled because Dr. Turkewitz will take care of my Pain Management.. also Washington Adventist Hospital excepted me into a program would allow patients to come to the hospital to receive pain medication for breakthrough pain but first you had to agree to let them come into your home with an addiction specialist and an EMT to make sure you're not abusing the medication. Upon the time that I was running running out of the pain medication a couple of months later he had no bedside manner or remorse. He cut me off my pain medication, cold turkey, and as I said, I hadn't healed yet. I was still healing on the inside later at night. I was in so much pain that I was curling a fetal position and I couldn't take it anymore, so I attempted suicide and the addiction specialist who told him I was not addicted was working out of Washington at his hospital and he was livid. I will never have anything good to say about this man

Dr. Akhmed saved my life…read more I had been given a false diagnosis by an urological oncologist at no less than Johns Hopkins. He told me that I had an advanced incurable cancer, and to "settle your affairs". I was only in my 30's, and this put my family into a huge crisis. After weeks of emergency room visits and specialists, I somehow ended up in Dr. Akhmed's office. She asked me what medications I was on, and right in front of me, pulled out a reference book and looked them up. She said that she thought I was having a rare reaction to an allergy medicine I was on and that I should stop taking all medications immediately. She was right. The allergy medicine had been causing high blood pressure and urine retention, resulting in a blocked bladder blowing up to the size of a basketball, which necessitated the emergency room visits and could have resulted in death. The other doctors I saw during the crisis gave me yet more meds which caused more side effects. Once I stopped taking the allergy meds and the high blood pressure meds, my blood pressure went down, and I never had another problem with the bladder. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Akhmed.

He actually took the time to talk AND listen to me, gave me some samples of medication, and ordered a MRI. I really did get the impression that he cared about the outcome, not that I was just another insurance claim for him to file. His office had me convinced I had cancer; when there was nothing wrong with me. In this day and age it is just not worth it, this is a sensitive subject you want a good doctor not a bad one. Don't waste your time, money, energy. Details if you want them, In 2004...I had been a patient for 3 years prior. After 1 questionable test result the Dr. disregarded facts about me and my history; predetermined the out come based on regional statistics (one of those facts he disregarded is that I lived in the region on paper only). He preformed one procedure and wanted to perform several more evasive procedures because "insurance allows it and it can't hurt" - his words not mine. When I questioned the course of action he was prescribing he responded with by trying to manipulate me into doing what he thought was best included making out of line character references and judgments about my family. IN tears he left me then came back and handed me a tissue and told me he only wanted "the best for" me. With in a month of this last meeting with Dr Strider I had 4 different & costly professional opinions which did not include evasive surgery like the kind Dr Strider had been pushing for and as it turned out there was nothing wrong with me. NOTHING. It has been 5 years and there is nothing wrong with me.

It just happened that I was waiting in the reception area when a call came in for someone seeking treatment who was not a patient and was from out of town but was in a great deal of pain. His compassionate response to that call and willingness to extend his hours revealed a lot about his patient care standards. My exam was detailed, the review was educational (but not sale-focused as I had experienced elsewhere), and the treatment plan was manageable and affordable. Then came my first adjustment in which I found relief never experienced previously. I still have a way to go but I am confident I am in excellent hands.
