A bit of a rocky start!!!
First, our plane from Manila to Caticlan was delayed about an hour. Second, when we finally arrived at Caticlan, we expected the resort to have made the arrangements to have us picked up from the airport, as we requested, but after everyone was picked up from the airport, we realized we were on our own; not what we requested or expected. Third, when we made the reservation, we asked if the resort had an elevator & they said yes - - but when we got there, there was no elevator; with my half a heart (literally) it would have been an issue if we weren't on the second floor. Four, the safe in the room did not lock; the combination lock didn't work so they gave us a key to us - - lo and behold even with the key all I did was pull the safe door with a little bit of force & it would open.
It's a pretty resort with a tropical feel throughout. The condition is good, not great - - but it's a beach resort. We had a king-sized room & the size was ok. It did have a little balcony where you could smoke - - if you wanted to - - we don't smoke so it wasn't an issue for us.
Breakfast was included with our room. It was their best meal. Buffet with an egg station, fruits, juices, meats, & more. The lunch & dinner menu is somewhat limited, but the food was ok. We ate dinner elsewhere.
The bar made wonderful mango & watermelon shakes. Booze was always flowing. One issue we had was the bar usually was in a music war with either one of the neighboring resorts. Quiet hours started at 10:00 PM, but one night a party was going on until after midnight.
The staff is accommodating. Jannina & Edelyn, our servers, were super helpful. The front desk setup our trip off the island to Kalibo & that had no bumps in the road.
The star of the show is the beach. They have 3 cabanas; I would suggest securing one early if you want the shade from the sun. The resort has 16 beach lounge chairs. Unlike the bar, which is open to anyone on the beach, security ensures that the cabanas and the beach chairs are used by the resort guests only.
It's still Boracay Station 1 - - a bit more peaceful & less crowded than Stations 2 or 3. It reasonably priced for a great beach stay. Greatest sunset anywhere!!!
