We happened upon Supu Ramen because our hotel is located a few doors away and we'd walked by Supu Ramen on the way to the Saint Michel Metro Station. I'm not particularly interested in eating ramen while vacationing in Paris but I happened to glance at the menu displayed in the window and noticed it read "Supu Ramen avec Guy Savoy". Excuse Me? This is the same Guy Savoy known for his 3 Michelin star flagship restaurant in nearby St. Germain and another flagship location in Las Vegas! Those restaurants that will easily cost you $300+ per person for dinner.
We decided to eat an early dinner at 5:45pm and we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The ambiance is hip casual with interesting playful art. The menu is fairly limited with several starters, several ramen choices, several topping choices to add to your ramen, and a few dessert options. We were depending on pics of dishes from the restaurant's Instagram page and website because a Yelp listing for this business did not exist (I created it to add this first Yelp review).
We choose 3 appetizers based on the descriptions but not quite sure what to expect:
1. Duck Foie Gras, poultry jelly with smoked tea, daikon and sesame, rice flour crackers. This was excellent. The foie gras just melted in your mouth.
2. 'Sushi style' organic rice, grilled mackerel, SUPU sauce: This was mini rice bowl that was very enjoyable. The mackerel was very well prepared and seasoned. Lots of flavor.
3. 'Sushi style' organic rice, grilled pork belly, SUPU sauce: This was also a mini rice bowl but the pork belly bits were very small and not much noticeable flavor. The mackerel rice bowl was much better.
The two entrees:
1. Dashi broth with mackerel with side of soft boiled egg marinated in soy. Excellent flavor broth and mackerel.
2. Pork broth with pork belly and French sausage with side of "seared mini-escalope of duck foie gras". Really enjoyed this ramen as well. The foie gras was two seared pieces each about the size of fingertip.
The total bill was 65 euros including one glass of house wine. Recommended! read more
