I have experienced SUPfari both as a family and for my children as part of a local camp. I LOVE SUPfari! We are a family of four - older parents with pre-teen/teenager kids. We hadn't ever done anything like this before but it was great for all of us! The lesson location is a quiet pond in a beautiful part of the Cape. As long as you are reasonably comfortable in the water, this is the experience for you. You can move as much as you want, depending on your strength, and stand or kneel or sit, depending on your energy. The instructors are young people very adept at this activity but who are most interested in you having a great time! The cost is reasonable for an activity where you just show up; all the equipment is provided. When my sons did this activity during another summer camp, the experience was just the same; I heard the fun in their voices when I picked them up and, although details are thin when coming from this age group, the reports of safety and challenge were the same. I have not tried any of their more specific activities but I also feel like I could having started with confidence in their beginner experience. Our family of 5 took the challenge one very hot, early morning in July. We had a blast! Ryan was a wonderful guide. He was fearless, entertaining, knowledgeable & conscientious. One in our group was slower than the rest so Ryan hung back to keep a watchful eye, allowing the rest of us to move freely. Although most of us had never been on a SUP, by the end of the hour we were doing hang tens, front & back flips, head stands, back bends & so forth. Ryan absolutely provided the sense of confidence & safety which allowed us to tap into our own fearlessness & explore what was possible on the board. Days later I did a SUP yoga class w/ Zoe which was wonderful. Even if you have never been on a SUP, you can easily do one of the SUP yoga classes if you have a sense of balance. The boards are wide & made for playing on. I'd love to do one of the eco tours, there is so much to see on Cape Cod & to see it from the vantage point of a SUP is the best. I own a SUP & prefer it to my kayak most of the time because it allows much more freedom of movement & visibility. If you are considering one of their adventures, give it to yourself & your family, it'll be a high light of your vacation. read more

This was the best decision we made during our overnight Cape trip! If you can, try to request Luke because he was so great. He had us meet the trailer at Arey's Pond Boatyard in Orleans, which was such a wonderful place to start off - we spotted a harbor seal up close, a beautiful old heron, and tons of osprey! Luke pointed those animals out to us and told us a lot about the ecosystem of the pond and river. Plus, he knows so much about Cape Cod's history and tourism industry - we got so many other amazing recommendations from him! We were experienced paddlers, but he would be great for less-experienced paddlers as well because he set a leisurely pace and spent a lot of time instructing us on technique. Wonderful weekend with Juliet and Ryan Burch at Kripalu. I attended by myself and felt at ease right away. Judging from huge smiles from moms and daughters or friends attending together, also a fabulous activity for a girls' weekend or family trip. Instructors did a fantastic job providing fun activities suited to many level of fitness and participants' diverse experience with yoga and water sports. Great place to learn everything to board basics all the way to advanced SUP yoga! Very positive, friendly, respectful, inclusive group environment. Program leaders and staff were prepared for everything nature threw at us and made the experience safe, flexible, and well organized. Highly recommend! read more

Just got back from a 2-hour SUP lesson with Luke. We headed out from Arey's Pond Boatyard in Orleans and headed into Little Pleasant Bay. Luke taught me some new strokes, improved my power stroke, and introduced me to edging the board. We had a great paddle, saw some seals, blue crabs and horseshoe crabs. Conversation ranged from SUP through skiing via the Boston Marathon and touched on Cape Cod life and history. I'll be back on the Cape in some other year and will seek Luke out again for more lessons. My husband and I had a wonderful time with SUPfari on our Sunset Kayak Tour! Chris and Alex were awesome guides!! Chris gave us such great information about the history of the Cape, the area we paddled, the animals and the sailboats docked in Arey's Lane harbor. Alex took awesome pictures for us, showed us and talked about an invasive species, and gave us great recommendations for our trip to Provincetown the following day. We had great paddling conditions and were able to end our tour with the beautiful sunset and a seal sighting! I would recommend SUPfari and I would definitely go on another tour with them! read more

For reference, I'm 24 and was on a Cape Cod weekend trip with my girlfriend and 6 friends in mid july. 6 people in our group decided to try the SUP yoga but none of us had ever had done stand up paddle board or yoga, let alone combined. Our instructor was Sally and she did an awesome job. She was very pleasant, fun, and knowledgable. She led us through a great yoga session that was a perfect level of difficulty for us beginner SUP yogis. Afterward I felt renewed, relaxed, and calm. We all absolutely loved it. Took an ECO Tour SUP lesson with one of their instructors, Rick. It was my first time on a SUP and I can't say enough, other then I am hooked. Due to a schedule conflict the owner, Ryan, coordinated with the instructor Rick on a time and place that worked for me. If you do an ECO Tour ask for Rick, super cool Surfer/SUP Dude! We had a great time on the water and was worth every nickel. I am athletic and probably would have gotten it on my own eventually but the little things Rick thought me were extremely valuable. So happy I took the class. Can't wait to hit the water again on my new SUP! read more

Zoe and Juliet ROCK!! I had a private lesson and SUP yoga with some coworkers while on a Development Trip. It was my first time so I was a little nervous. They took their time going over the appropriate techniques and eased us into the water. By the end of the class before yoga I felt so comfortable on the board!! Yoga was awesome as well! The class was very gentle and it was amazing to feel the heat of the sun and the coolness of the water all at the same time. I live in Chicago and have gone twice since being in MA!! Ryan led 9 members of my family and me (ages ranging from 11 to 50) on a truly great Cape Cod and SUP experience. The standup paddle boarding instruction, paddle tour and swimming fun on the beautiful kettle lakes of Cape Cod were enough to make this a highlight of our annual family vacation. What we didn't expect was the fantastic education from Ryan on Cape Cod history and the ecosystem of the local ponds and marshes. We had an awesome first experience with a Paddle Board on the Glow Tour. Luke and Scott were great instructors and guides. We called ahead for reservations but the winds were too strong so it was postponed until the following evening. They were very good about keeping us informed as to the conditions. Some advice we did not think of is to wear a long sleeve shirt and bring bug spray. For us, it was a very enjoyable experience and well worth the money. We loved our time with SUPfari Adventures and have continued to take lessons and rent paddle boards from them for 4 years now. The owners are so kind and love what they do. They're constantly adding to their adventures and encouraging people to try new things. Our goal next summer is moonlight paddle boarding. My son did a kayaking adventure with SUPfari as part of an Audubon day camp and had an amazing time. This wasn't any ordinary adventure, given a deep fear of kayaking (long story). From the moment Ryan called me back... I knew this was going to be a blast. The Annie Campers (5 girls ages 11-20) had never paddle boarded... We met Ethan at the lake and he taught them the basics on land... then hours of fun and laughter on the water. A friend and I had a stand up paddle board lesson today with Deborah and had a fabulous time. Deborah taught us the basics both on land and in the water clearly and methodically and with ease and grace. In no time we were both up and at it and as we got comfortable with the absolute basics Deborah taught us a bit more.. My husband and I had a fantastic experience this past weekend on Upper Mill Pond in Brewster. The experienced instructors were beyond patient and kind. They encouraged us to explore and play and were always available for additional instruction and guidance. They are an AWESOME company! We came to Cape Cod during the off season, and they were super amenable to scheduling an excursion during this time. Our instructor, Ethan, was super entertaining and took his time with our time on the water. We got to try tricks and more advanced techniques as well as making fools of ourselves.
