We were visiting a couple of old timers near The Cape when it was decided we'd bike the canal. Being a couple of out of towners we needed to rent bikes and they suggested we try Buzzards Bay Bikes. The entire process couldn't have been easier. I forget the nice soft spoken woman's name that helped us but I can tell you the shop dog's name is Tree. Just took a few minutes to sign the agreement and we were on our way. She pointed us in the right direction to cross the street and in about a minute we were at the bridge pedaling towards the ocean. Fantastic ride and returning the equipment was just as quick. Highly recommend to visitors looking for a little exercise and fresh air! read more

I stopped in with my EBike that had brakes partially working. They came out....unloaded my bike, Adjusted the brakes and fixed the issue at war- speed...loaded the bike back on my truck ....and charged me a minimal service fee. The staff there were so pleasant and knowledgeable and quick to address my concern. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent customer service and good quality bikes that were comfortable to ride. This is the second time we are renting bikes from them. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. They were wearing masks and also said that they sanitize the bikes after each rental. We hired the kids trailer which was a little dirty with beach sand and the guy was super nice and offered to vacuum it. Really appreciate it. Highly recommend and will rent again without doubt. I purchased a Yeti 4.5c. Overall I'm happy - bike's in very good condition & the interaction with the shop was positive. Being a remote sale, the shop sent some pretty detailed pics of the bike initially & when packing. I spoke to different shop guys & got a good vibe. The minus's include the bike arrived, I noticed a decent gash on the rear derailleur as well as crank arm rub, nicks - not a show stopper but I think this should have been mentioned/disclosed (-1 for shop missed pic & -2 communication gap which I share equally b/t shop & me (net -1) I also got a bottle so that does count for something! read more

Sailworld is an awesome place to rent bikes to have some fun on the canal. Rentals are cheap. 1 hr= $10 3 hr=$18 24 hr=$25 3 days=$50 5 days= $70 7 days=$80 The canal is about 7 miles each way and if you do the 3 hours rental, you are able to ride there and back in time. Of course, I always make a pit stop at the Friendly's by the Sagamore Bridge. They also will give you a helmet and locks if you want. Great bike, SUP, windsurf, surf, and kite board shop in Bourne. Very knowledgeable owner and staff. We bought an inflatable SUP board and kit from him, which is a real crowd pleaser so far. He designed and builds them himself, extremely knowledgeable guy. He will help you with anything. They have a great assortment of clothes, bikes, rentals of bikes and SUPS and other items. So about a month ago, I needed a slider nut for my Windsurfer, I have been doing this sport forever and never really got that good from not doing it in the ocean, so I have only bought new equipment once in my life. I ended up getting a whole rig and as I was loading it up on my car, the owner of the company gave me a used board that was nearly new!!! I just tried out the board finally yesterday in Nahant and it's one of the nicest ones now in my collection. They apparently have quite a few used stuff, which is the way most of the people in this sport tend to build up their collections!!! Anyways luckily for me there is this place left. Years ago, you could find stores much closer to my area and now the sports sad decline has left us Windsurfers high and dry for actual brick and mortar stores!!! For those of us few who still do this sport, please try to buy more stuff from the few stores left...For the sake of the sport and for the sake of your sanity, we need this in our lives!!! read more

Sailworld is probably great for rentals, but beware buying new products. I was looking for a bike fit for a 'senior' and Sailworld recommended a new Specialized Crossroads for $530. Found through research it was last year's (2013) model and I was able to find new 2014 (same model) at a shop in Plymouth for only $400. Saved $130 over Sailworld's inflated prices. I'm a local and would love to support local business, but I'm not Santa Claus either. read more
