My child started this class from her daycare program, they have an amazing program up front that really only holds its value for the first couple months, and then it begins they try locking you into a contract every chance they get. I was really impressed with their program at first and even told several other parents to sign their kids, little did i know that they are full of BS!! they tell you that they will work with you until the time comes that you need them to work with you, all they do is give you a number to some financial company saying that you have a contract with them and not superstar its self really weird and messed up system. If you get caught up in their web of deception just be ready to be paying an average of $200 per month even if your child is not attending classes there for at least a year and longer if you don't "properly" withdraw out of the contract. Another thing that really upset me is how fast they graduated students to the next belt level even if the child did not learn anything since the last graduation, it seems like they let everyone graduate to collect the $60 they charge for every graduation which happens to be every two months like clock work, they hand out belts like its a gold star in elementary school. It seems that the routine to get the first orange belt and the camo belt (4th belt and $800 late) is the same.. I hate to put companies down and i am always trying to work something out to come up with a resolution, but when you train your staff to tell parents to call ASF (contract finance company) and that their is nothing you can do to work something out, that is where it hits a nerve i wish i never signed a contract with them... And be prepared to HAVE to pay more then the 200 per month because they tell you your child is in an advanced class and they are learning how to use new weapons so you have to buy their weapon or your child will not be able to participate, but by the time your child even learns how to hold the weapon properly they are graduating and starting another weapons class and you have to buy that one too! My 6 year old daughter has been at Superstar Karate for nearly a year. She has struggled with focus, balance, impulsivity and transitions for as long as we can remember. A year ago, we were on several 6-month to a year-long waitlists for evaluations with different therapists. We had tried dance classes but they weren't a good fit for her. Out of desperation for help, I signed her up for karate after seeing Superstar Karate march in a parade. I have observed such growth and development in her over the past year. Sensei Jason is amazing with all of the kids and has truly become such a positive influence in my daughter's development. He's sees the value of involving family members in the child's training and often has parents, or other family members, come to the mat to help their children practice their form. My daughter has learned the benefits of her hard work through special honors she has earned by applying herself both in and outside of class. When she started, she could not balance on one foot for more than a second or two. Over the past year, in addition to improved behavior, she has gained physical strength and balance, now holding controlled kicks for 10-15 seconds with ease. So far, she has graduated up 3 belts, participated in a reading program, and received countless accolades for her improvement in class - all through Superstar Karate's Dinomite program. Even after comparing it to a few months of OT and behavior therapy, I have seen her biggest gains come directly from this program. We decided to sign up for a four week trial with their Dinomites group to determine if our child would like karate and could perform the physical skill set. No membership pressure, just decide your commitment after your trial is done. Our child has motor developmental delays, low tone, bilateral imbalance, sensory, coordination, flexibility difficulties and challenges. Our child loves and enjoys the program and peer interaction. The Leadership Team is fun, energetic, encouraging and supportive to every student in the class. The owners asked us if their was anything they could do to assist and help our child overcome his physical challenges. They did not simply add him to the program but initiated to make a difference in our child's progress and physical growth. Many business do not operate with such care and support. Even though the skill set is challenging and difficult for our child, their genuineness of caring, positive environment and "you can do it" attitude has encouraged him to continue working hard when it is easy to give up given his physical limitations and challenges. We have been attending Karate classes for almost 10 months, twice a week and can't praise this program enough. We are glad we selected them as the first Karate experience for our child, fortunate to be a part of this Karate family community and hopefully a permanent lifestyle interest in this art for our child. I can't say more good things about this place. I originally signed my kids up for karate here years ago and it just wasn't the right time for them. I loved Superstar Karate then, they make you feel so welcome and it really is a no judgement zone here. You are accepted exactly the way you are. I loved this environment and is what prompted me to come back here when I was looking to sign my son up for karate again. He said he wanted to join karate and I immediately thought of Superstar karate. It was a perfect choice. My son walked in and the instructors even remembered him from years ago when he was a dinomite (under age 6 and my son is now 9). My son loves it and it helped and is still helping with behavioral issues he has. A couple months into my son being in karate I decided I wanted to join with my daughter. I absolutely love it and so does my daughter. It's become a family bonding time for us which is so important to me because I work a lot and am very busy being a single parent. This brings us together, helps relieve stress from the day, and is teaching us valuable self defense skills. Superstar Karate also instills good moral values which will help children (and adults!) be respectful and caring to others. I have been enrolled at Superstar Karate since I was eight years old. When I had my first class I just loved it. The instructors and staff are so kind and helpful, and I was just so proud of myself when I broke my first board. I have been enrolled at Superstar Karate for a whopping three years and I am in Black Belt class now! Beginners note this phrase, "see it, believe it, achieve it". If you memorize this phrase you will get a growth mindset and that will help you persevere to my Belt level and beyond! My mother says that ever since I started at Superstar Karate, she has seen new sides of me that she has never seen before! (These sides are good). My mom started karate almost three years ago and is still sticking with it just like me! It is a good source of exercise too. If you haven't already joined Superstar Karate I really recommend it! I wanted to share my experience with Superstar Karate in Carol Stream, Illinois. My daughter had a friend who's younger sister and Mother were taking karate classes together here and they all raved about the great experiences there since joining. After about a year of sitting on the sidelines watching my daughter and learning the forms, self defense skills and sparring techniques right along with her, I decided to join as well. I have to say that the entire academy; owner, instructors, front desk, students and their families are what makes going there for classes a great experience for me. I get great workouts, learn new skills I never thought I'd be able to do (they do accommodate all required needs) and always feel I am in a safe and encouraging environment. They know how to work with the younger kids too! Joining Superstar karate was one of the best decisions we have made. We initially signed our daughter up thru their Dynomite trial program (4 years ago). We didn't really know what to expect but wanted our kid to try something different. It quickly became clear to us the positive influence this place had on her. Over the past 4 years I got to see my daughter transform from being a shy kid always looking in from the sidelines to performing a weapons routine in front of an audience at one of the local sporting events. This is so much more than just a Martial Arts Academy, they teach kids skills they will use for the rest of their lives, like respect, how to deal with failure and perseverance to name a few. All of the instructors are always willing to help in anyway they can. They treat students like family which is a big part of why we like this school so much. Superstar Karate is definitely the BEST karate school around. I have a 5-year-old in the Dinomites program and she is thriving! Prior to becoming a student at Superstar Karate, my daughter was extremely shy and introverted. She refused to participate in any program if I wasn't right next to her. Fast forward 6 months ...she has completely come out of her shell and is bubbly and so excited to participate in classes. My husband and I have seen such a remarkable change in her that we are actually switching my eldest daughter from her current karate school (which she has been going to since she was 4) to Superstar. Every single instructor is amazing here. Strict but fair--which is exactly what I want for my children. I have always been treated kindly and with respect by the entire staff. Our son has been attending SSK for the past nearly 4 years. He began his martial arts journey in the Dinomites program, completed it, and moved onto the next level of traditional classes. Sensei Kifer uses a great mix of both fun and discipline in all of his lessons and classes. In addition to Sensei Kifer, his group of student instructors are also great with children, as I've witnessed first hand. I especially enjoy him recalling stories of his own training, or the accomplishments of his students which he is so proud to share. One key thing I've noticed is this program's ability to motivate even the youngest of students to give their all while training. This translates well into other aspects of daily life as well. Superstar karate is such an amazing place. When you join, you become a member of the family not just a number at a dojo. There is a incredible group of staff and instructors that stand by your side to offer guidance and comradery. My granddaughter has been training here for six years with no end in sight. Throughout this pandemic, Superstar karate and their team members have risen to the challenge. As soon as the schools shut down, they went into brainstorming mode. They set up zoom classes from instructor's homes until it was safe for them to return to the school. They went above and beyond to challenge the students and keep them focused on their training and mental health. It was definitely the one constant in my grand daughter's life throughout this crazy year. I can't say enough to show my appreciation for this amazing group of people. I have been looking for a place to learn a martial art where I would feel comfortable. As a woman, I often felt intimidated in my previous experiences at martial arts schools. My first class had at least half females in it. The instructors (and other students) were extremely nice, approachable and helpful. There were 3 instructors and I had individual attention. That has continued and is very important to me because it was a problem I ran into at other martial arts schools. I was so pleased with my first class that I signed up afterwards. I felt no pressure to do so, only enthusiasm. I have been to other places that charged less but soon quit after feeling discouraged. It's been a couple months and I'm happy with the progress I'm making. I'm getting a great workout while learning to defend myself. We first experienced Superstar Karate through our 10 year old son, watching him train for a year. We saw sincere, caring instructors that took a lot of time with each student, challenging each person to do their individual best and be proud. About a year later they had an offer for parents to try out Superstar Karate and we took a class with our son. My daughter wanted to try some extracurricular activities and said she wanted to learn karate first. After looking around, I saw a great promotion that Superstar was running for a 6 week trial course. She was nervous, but in her first class, she broke a board and received her white belt! Soon after that, she decided she wanted to take karate for a year. We love superstar because they have you hold yourself accountable for all areas of life (home, school, work, karate, etc.) The instructors are fantastic! My daughter loves all of them. My 7 years old daughter is member of Superstar karate since April 2019. She is currently in yellow belt. Coaches are beyond my expectations. They have great curriculum and care about each child. After graduations kids are invited to bring in their siblings and friends for whole week of celebrations for free. They have many great events, and my daughter's favorite is free pizza party :) Their classes are very well organized and instructed. Coaches talk to kids about different topics and definitely are dedicated to help them grow in every way. As a parent just by watching class you can get great tools to help kids in different aspects of life. Academy is very family oriented and they definitely work hard to help each student. Superstar Karate is an excellent martial arts school. The instructors are dedicated, excellent motivators and have great enthusiasm. Students that take Karate learn a lot more than just martial arts.
