Even though I usually go to the Cedarfalls store because it's much closer to my home they were out…read moreof what I needed so I went here today. This store is much busier and my major complaint is the parking lot because it seems like nobody knows what in the heck they're doing when they're trying to park. I had to make an exchange for something that I had received that was broken and the Cedarfalls store didn't have it but this one did. They had it saved for me at the customer service counter which was a big help. I had to wait a little bit to get help at customer service. But they called for another employee and one came right away. It was really no hassle and I was in and out and loading up my car with what I needed in no time. I needed something else so I came back into shop. I needed a reciprocating saw and the one that I wanted that was on display in on sale was out on the shelf. I looked above in there overstock on the very top of their bays and they had exactly what I wanted up there. I was able to go over to the hardware desk and ask a nice gentleman if he would get it for me. He went and got a ladder and retrieved it for me immediately. He even told me to have a wonderful weekend. I had to get some landscaping fabric pens from out in their garden center. It's really late in the year for the garden center. So they didn't have the doors accessible from the parking lot to it nor did they have it staffed. They are pretty much sold out of most of their flowers except for some moms and some discounted bushes. But I was able to find what I needed and go back into check out. The store seem nice and tidy even though I was really busy. They had several registers open and I was able to check out right away. The nice lady at the register offered me the protection plan on my reciprocating saw. For less than five dollars I got a one-year warranty. What that means if anything goes wrong with it in 12 months anything I can bring it back to the store and they will give me a brand-new one. I had purchased this on a cordless drill once and it was well worth it. Years ago but I would've told you that menards has terrible customer service. When you walked by people that used to not greet you or even make eye contact with you. In the last couple of years I found it to be an opposite. Either it is a fluke. Or they have really stepped up their game on service in their stores. I prefer to shop at Minard's over Lowes or Home Depot any day. Their customer service selection and prices cannot be beat.

After several non-stellar experiences I'm updating my review from a five star to a three star…read more What topped it off was tonight's experience. A week ago my husband ordered an outdoor build it yourself fire pit on menards.com. Online it promised that we would have to load the blocks ourselves from the garden center but the fire ring and the adhesive tubes would be set aside for us at the back special order pick up in the lumber yard. Because we ordered online we had to go in and check in at the desk and get a print out of what we were picking up. At the desk two employees again said the fire ring and adhesive would be back in the lumber yard. After a long wait at the return desk for an even exchange and watching the crew leader show attitude to employees we drove around to get our fire pit materials. An employee helped load our blocks but said we would have to go back inside and get the ring and adhesive off the shelf. We asked about how we were told they would be set aside and he said they just grab them from the shelf. The guy said he'd grab the ring for us but my husband would have to go get the adhesive from the paint center. On the total opposite side of the store from the garden center. I waited in the truck with my son while they went to retrieve the items. My husband came back but the employee never did with the fire ring. So we had to again go find someone to figure out what was going on. They told us we'd have to go inside and retrieve it ourselves. At this point my husband was ticked. What's the benefit of ordering online for ease of pick up? Tonight's Menards visit was a complete waste of an hour and a half.

Over the last few months I've had a couple less than satisfying experiences with Menards as a whole…read more- including but not limited to, my Menards account being compromised and my card information stolen and used to purchase almost $1000 in items in store. Then most recently, I purchasing an item online with one description, and when receiving it, it being different than advertised. Every time I've attempted to reach out to any employee within the Cedar Falls store specifically regarding any issue or concern I've had, I've received the most atrocious customer service. While I understand that certain situations can't necessarily be handled at a store level - there are certain things that can be done when you're working with someone face to face - minimally some empathy, or an apology for the inconvenience. My experiences have always handled by the employees I've worked with by defensiveness, surface level service, and empty words. I've never received any actual SERVICE when it comes to dealing with issues in store. I personally worked in customer service for 15+ years. Almost a decade of that as a customer experience manager at a retail store - so trust me when I say that I understand certain things are out of a workers control, even a managers control. But, there are many things that can be controlled. One of those things is how you handle yourself at your job, and during specific situations. After coming in to the store today to attempt to deal with a situation of a defective item - I left the counter frustrated (with no resolution). As I am still in the store, I see the manager I was just dealing with walk directly from our encounter over to a coworker and give them the 'eyes' and have some words that I can only image was about the 'difficult' customer that she was just dealing with. I'm going to assume she didn't realize that I observed this (because that's better than the alternative that she just didn't care). It really does blow my mind how someone can provide the bare minimum amount of customer service and then when a customer walks away frustrated at that bare minimum service they've received, an employee has the audacity to roll their eyes as if they had done all they could do, with the implication that the customer is being irrational. I'm a younger person that works really hard for what I have - so when the issues I've had with Menards cost me around $1000 THIS YEAR alone, and no resolution has been provided, I guess I have to resort to Yelp reviews in the hopes that my concerns will be heard and addressed.

The one star rating is today February 1 2025 only. This store is us pretty good…read more So I was at Waterloo Harbor Freight this morning for a pre-arranged exchange. The employees have always been nice at a minimum. Today I was greeted by an unprofessional employee. She was angry because I lose my words sometimes since my stroke. On her third try asking for a receipt I asked her what part of no doesn't she understand? On her second attempt she abandoned me and went to the office pouting. Then came back for her 3rd try. She proceeded to make rude facial expressions from the time I walked. I asked for help moving the return from my truck inside. I said it was heavy but couldn't get the name to come out due to Aphasia. I told her the exchange product was labeled with my name. She continued to give me dirty looks. So I asked her if she was hungover or something because she was being a "bitch". She responded I don't drink. Then she made a performance of telling the normal young lady via radio that she didn't want to help me. So I loudly said to the other employee who was nearing the back of the store that I didn't want her help. The other 2 employees said you can't call someone that. I said "not only can I call her a bitch, I'll continue to call her one as long as she acts like one. I n the previous 6 weeks I've been in this store at least 3 times a week and never had an issue. A lady who identified herself as the manager said in an offensive tone that she would be calling the main manager today. I responded with go ahead he knows me and if he likes I'll give him a transcript of our conversation from my hearing aids. In loud places I turn on TTY so I can understand what is being said. And showed her. She just feigned disinterest. Epic Fail #harborfreight
