Good service, good selection, but not what I wanted. Not any fault of theirs. I'm not your typical buyer.

We had an impromptu refresh of our kitchen after our water softener dumped water all over our kitchen floor. We were looking around for backsplash tile and weren't really finding anything we liked. A contractor suggested that we check out Superior Stone. We brought a sample of our granite countertop as well as paint chips of the wall and cabinet colors. Karen was very helpful and gave us a few suggestions. One detail we really needed help with was how to end the tile along one of our cabinet walls. The previous backsplash ended vertically with the edge of the cabinets. I never liked that look. I also don't like the look that many people do where they extend the tile along the wall horizontally from the bottom of the cabinets. I don't really like that look either. Karen suggested we go all the way up the wall from the edge of the countertop. That's what we did and I absolutely love the look. So now we have a "new" kitchen that we really enjoy. We never spent time in the kitchen before other than cooking. Now we tend to hang out in the kitchen much of the time I guess because we like the look and it feels inviting. Avoid this place like the plague. I have been a general contractor for over twenty years. I have never seen such deceptive sales practices. The owner, Mike Rocha, texted me a picture of a beautiful glass mozaic tile called Billie Ombre Glass He gave me a sample board to take home, The tile is extremely expensive at around $100/sq ft. It changes colors in different light. He charged me $13k, delivered it to the property I was renovating while I wasn't there, and what he delivered was the knock off version, Ombre Marble, AR $30/sq ft. After confirming with the tile manufacturer that it is two different products, and after they accepted to take Superior Stones return at no re stock fee, Mike STILL would not refund my money. On top of that, there is a bunch of unapproved billing, missing product, and the wrong and broken product. I paid him $49,600. I've received less than half of that. I have retained my attorney since Mike will not agree to refund my money for unopened, incorrect/damaged product, that was delivered less than 30 days ago. read more

Remember those Shane Co. commercials that said, "Now you have a friend in the diamond business"? That's how I feel about Superior Stone - now I have a friend in the natural stone business. We recently completed a whole house renovation, and I was looking for countertop material for my kitchen and bathrooms. After deciding that quartzite was likely out of my budget, I came to Superior Stone on a whim, just to admire slabs one last time. I fell in love with a slab of quartzite and asked Karen if she could recommend any fabricators, just so I could price it out. That's when my quartzite dreams started to become a reality. Karen referred me to one of her recommended fabricators, and he quoted me a very reasonable price to fabricate, demo and install the quartzite counters. He was able to use remnants from the 2 slabs I purchased to fabricate counters for my half bath and kids' bathroom as well. Thanks to Karen's fabricator recommendation, we were able to fit quartzite into our budget. Karen was WONDERFUL. She was patient and creative and suggested great tile to match the colors of my project. I ended up ordering all of our tiles, grout, and Schluter trim from Superior Stone as well because their prices were better than anything I found online and the customer service was great. Monica also weighed in on grout color and tile choices as well, and was super helpful. This is exactly the type of local business you want to see stay in business! They are awesome! I did a home remodel, and the general contractor recommended Superior Stone for countertops and tile. My first trip there I met with Frank, who helped me select a kitchen countertop. On subsequent visits (probably at least half a dozen), I worked with Karen, who helped me pick out floor tile and a bathroom vanity countertop. Most (but not all) of my trips were on a Saturday. Even though there were other customers in the store, Karen made sure everyone was being assisted. I live in the south bay, but it was worth the trip to Gilroy. They had a good selection, could provide samples, and were very helpful. read more

They gave me lots of options and recommendations for types of tile and designs for my backsplash. I ran into a hiccup with my order, which was completely my fault, and they were incredibly accommodating and helpful in fixing my dilemma. PRICING: Very affordable compared to many tile shops I looked at. TILE: I ordered marble tile and glass/stone mosaic tile. Both are great quality and look amazing in my backsplash! Wanted to shop local and support local businesses but........ absolutely the most horrible customer service or should I say no service at all. Two men in there offices one on the phone the other visiting with a friend. No acknowledgment what so ever then a female employee comes on the floor still no acknowledgement. No even a Hi I will be right with you NOTHING! Then I am walking around no one is there they all left.... an empty showroom. So I left and will spend my money elsewhere. We live in Salinas, but my Soledad-based stone fabricator, Rich Castillo of RC Tile & Granite, recommended Superior over others we were considering and now I know why. They were honest, fair in pricing, and reliable in their delivery schedule. Frank made great recommendations on the selection that was most helpful and he made sure to tell us the positives of the slabs we selected. I love my Bianco Antico Granite and it looks wonderful in my newly remodeled kitchen. The cost fit right in my budget and the beauty of the stone would not given justice by photos. After going to at least 25 stone/granite stores I was seriously on the verge of tears ready to pick just anything for my countertops. Nothing I saw said buy me. I went to Superior Stone in Gilroy and Karen Walker was quite helpful and understood my frustration. She gave me a referral to MSI (their supplier) in Hayward and I found the perfect countertop. Well, sadly to say.....started out good with this company, then turned to standard replies for a business that doesn't care. Mother in law went here to get counter slabs. Quartz was beautiful and no issues. Then came the ever daunting backsplash. Found the perfect match, last in existence in the world, discontinued of course. Ordered more than needed, from southern CA, arrived in March. Sat in the boxes after delivery in the garage, untouched by us, until COVID-19 restrictions allowed my contractor to install. Low and behold, when unboxed, 85% of the tiles were broken.... Contractor began the install and found this tragedy and informed me. I went to the job and saw for myself and yup, not only were there massive amounts of broken tiles in each sheet of 12 x18 meshed sets, it was truly a disaster as each box of ten sheets had 6 to 8 with a broken tile, rendering them useless. Sucks right?? The worst part is that the supplier obviously knew this as they had epoxied the broken ones they saw back together and shipped anyways. During shipping, more broke and nobody knew as we didn't get to install until recently as Covid restrictions were lifted. I know, sad story as we should have checked the condition on arrival back in late March and shame on me for thinking the order would be in good shape. The part that disappoints me is that when I called superior stone, they told me that there was only a 30 day "return period". Yup, that was their answer. Ok, I'll give them that when we aren't in a pandemic..... Luckily I ordered way over what we needed due to short supply and the discontinued stock but I ended up having to eat the cost in extra time for my contractor to pick and pull non broken pieces to put in the broken pieces place. It all comes down to money every time. All I wanted was a little compensation to pay the difference of what it cost me on the tile setting price but Superior Stone didn't want to get into it. Best tip here is check your order before leaving their store. If not, good luck feeling you got your monies worth. I'll try to post pics of the tile with this review. Won't ever make this mistake again and won't be going to Superior Stone due to their lack of customer appreciation. I'll gladly remove this review if they make it right but that's doubtful since my "30 days" are up! read more

My entire experience with Superior Stone - from start to finish - was FANTASTIC! I was updating my kitchen counters and had gone to numerous granite supplies in the Bay Area in search of the perfect slabs. When I finally made my way to Superior Stone I had started to become frustrated because I could not find the what I had in mind. As soon as I walked into Superior Stone I started to feel upbeat and positive. They had numerous high quality, GORGEOUS slabs displayed in a way that they could be easily viewed and evaluated. I was struck by the clarity and beauty of the many of the slabs - very different than what I had seen at most of the other stores. I felt free to walk around and examine the slabs without a salesperson hovering over me. However, once I showed interest and started asking questions, I was pleasantly greeted by an amazing salesperson - Frank, one of the co-owners. Within minutes Frank calculated the square footage of my kitchen, determined the number of slabs I needed and was on the phone with an installer to get an approximate cost for installation. I was shocked! That had never happened at any of the other locations! Frank was extremely attentive without being annoying. He listened to my concerns and interests and helped guide me with his experience. He also sent me numerous emails following up on my many requests regarding supply, cost and process. I finally decided on 3 slabs of the most delicious granite I have ever seen - all thanks to Frank's assistance and expert customer service. He then referred me to a wonderful installer - Edgar Valence - to do the work. I am very grateful that Superior Stone has such a wonderful supply of high quality granite and also for Frank and his fantastic attention to detail and customer service! We purchased our granite and tile from Superior Stone. Everything in their showroom and warehouse is absolutely GORGEOUS!. I honestly couldn't be happier with our choice of granite and tile. My kitchen looks amazing. The customer service is fantastic. Everyone is very helpful. The quality is amazing. If your going to remodel your home put the money towards quality. I had recommendations to go to KZ Cabinet and Best Tile in San Jose, let me tell you these places sell extremely cheap material from China. The prices are very low but too good to be true. I am currently in the middle of a Guest and Master bath remodel. I had gone to other places in Morgan Hill and it was 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged that I was even there, so I left and found Superior Stone. It was a TOTALLY different experience. The second I walked in the door Karen greeted me and showed me where the hand sanitizer was. She then proceeded to help me with my tile needs and found exactly what I wanted for both baths. Every selection was summarized and kept track of with type of tile/grout/vanity tops I wanted for each bathroom. This was really important as there is so much to think about when making these decisions. I couldn't recommend her or this company highly enough. Its really the best in the area and you won't be sorry you came here. The Guest bath is finished and just stunning. The Master is next.
