Quick efficient place to meet state smog requirement. They took care of getting it done quick!

HOW IS THIS place and Jim still in business???? The news needs to investigate and report this place. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. JIM CHARGED ME $123.76 for a smog check that only took 10 minutes. 3 other local places that I called around to after, told me $68 or $78. Yes they had the year make model of my vehicle before telling me that price. The worst thing about Superior is that Jim first tells you that he has been there for 35 years and that it is a family run business and that he would really appreciate my yelp review. Then when I went back in to ask why I got charged so much, he tells me that he is just a smog technician and not the owner and that there is nothing he can do about the prices because they are set by some corporation. That is super weird right? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. It is my own fault for trusting a place without calling around for prices first or getting the price upfront before the service and not leaving immediately. But the human side of this is that sometimes when you're in a hurry to get things done and have a lot on your mind, this part can slip. Is taking advantage of people what they are counting on? No idea why the other reviews are so good. Jim is "nice" enough but is that really 'nice' if you're getting taken advantage of like by $40 or $50? That is a pretty decent amount of cash for 10 minutes of effort. read more

I was recommended to Superior Smog by Theodore Robbins Ford, and so glad I was! Jim was truly the best as he's been there for 35 years! Excellent, professional and quick! Jim got me right in and even bought me a cup of coffee. Terrific experience and I absolutely recommend this smog center! read more

First time to Superior Smog Center ... the BEST! Will always come here when need one of my cars smog checked! Quick service and very very polite ! Highly recommend! read more

My truck had an issue with a code not clearing after repairs were done, thus, couldn't smog check. Jim was super helpful and said to just keep coming by and he would check it, and after enough driving, it would clear. I went by many times ( I would've been annoyed with myself!), and he cheerfully plugged it in to check it. Today, before having to go to the dealer, I gave it another shot... code was still there. He/we decided to give it a try, and IT PASSED!! Such a nice man and a very convenient location. Old fashioned service is getting hard to come by, and I truly appreciate it. read more

Jim is quick, friendly and professional! I have been coming here for the last few years and have brought both of my vehicles here. He provides you with transparency before conducting the smog and really cares about helping you. Personally, I don't mind spending a little more on a smog knowing the person helping me has good intent. I would refer Jim and his services to anyone which explains why he has such long term and loyal customers. Thanks Jim! read more

Jim was so awesome! My wife bought a 1990 Integra that needed some "love" to get running well. Even though Superior Smog only does checks, Jim gave me some great advice that helped me get the car to not only pass smog, but it runs so much better and it gets better gas milage now. He treated me like I was his nephew! Great service! read more

Wish I had listened to a very trusted friend. A guy that has been going to Jim for over 15 years for smog check. After spending $800. And then going to a smog check in Orange it failed. He had not done a good and thorough job doing a diagnostic. Jim did an awesome job and also pointed how much they ripped me off. I'm in safe hands. read more

I was having an issue for months trying to get my car to pass smog in order to renew my registration. I took my car here for another try and second opinion. I got so much information from Jim, the owner of this smog center. Basically my car had an issue specific to and very common with German cars that prevented the computer from being ready to read for the smog test. I would have never gotten this information from a smog technician had I not taken my car here. Jim referred me to an amazing mechanic who specializes in German cars (C&F Auto) and I was able to get the issue taken care of. Jim even did a pre-test before the re-test to make sure my car would guarantee pass before charging me the second time. Jim is awesome! If you are looking for someone helpful with 20+ years of knowledge administering smog tests, visit Jim!!! There is a coupon on the website too (-: read more

This is the best place to get a smog check. Jim is very helpful at solving issues. My old van had a problem with the evap system that he fixed for $45. My friend spent 1500 at the dealer and Pep Boys and still did not pass smog until he went here and Jim fixed the problem for $80. Highly recommended. read more

The best ever! Been going here for years. Give this business your biz! You won't be disappointed. The most humble, competent owner always with a smile and kind words. read more

I am very disappointed in the service that I received just because I was charged two different times. When I brought it in originally he said that it wasn't ready to be smog because all the systems weren't ready then when I take it back to him after driving at a couple hundred miles he says it's too late and I have to pay a second time full price when he's the one that told me to take it out and drive it for a while. I know it's because I had my wife take it in there he took it vantage of her. I have been going Here for over 10 years with multiple vehicles and that will be the last time I ever visit here. read more

So first off this guy Jim Javadi talks me into a "pre-test" to determine if my car will pass smog for $35. He says that he can do "minor adjustments" to help the car pass smog once he does this "pre-test." So he does the "pre-test" and says the car will not pass. He makes some suggestions for additional repairs which he cannot perform himself. He then tells me that the "pre-test" was $45, not $35 as he said. So I figure that it's worth it based on his repair suggestions and pay the $45. I have my mechanic install a new O2 sensor and secure a vacuum line and bring the car back. The car passes and Jim charges me $36.75 for a re-test. I assumed he did the initial "pre-test" as a substitute for the actual smog test. Apparently this was not the case. He gives me a $10 "discount" on the re-test (which he shouldn't have charged me for in the first place)! I tell him I will pay the $106.75 but will not return. He says "ok." So the whole thing cost me $151.75! Upon checking around Costa Mesa there are quite a few places that will do the smog test including a certificate for $40 with a free re-test within 30 days. Do not go to this guy as there are plenty of other options for less than half the price. read more

Jim is legit! I was in and out in 10 minutes, and he even offered me a drink and took the time to walk me through all the DMV paperwork/nonsense. Not to mention, this is the most affordable spot you can find. I know where I'll be coming next time! read more

This was my brother and I's first time getting a Smog check for our two cars, but Jim and Superior Smog made the experience actually enjoyable. Jim was incredibly kind and professional, offering us water on a hot day and a place to sit in the shade. He was also very knowledgable, explaining to us what he was doing during the whole smog check, and offering advice for taking care of our cars. On top of this he offered low prices and was completely transparent about the charges. I honestly wish I could give him a sixth star, I am never going anywhere else for a smog check. read more

Had the best experience here! I went on a Saturday afternoon and although he was closing, he did the smog on my car, was the fastest I've ever experienced, and showed me the confirmation that the results were sent to DMV. I think I was in and out in 10 or 15 min! read more
