They don't answer the phone when they claim that they're busier than usual. I want out of my tank contract.

Getting actual help is all but impossible. They don't read the delivery tickets and consistently deliver to the in-ground HOUSE tank instead of the SHOP tanks 20 feet in front of them. Have a small LPG leak now in the above-ground tank they just filled, and getting someone to come look at and fix it so I don't lose 97 gallons of propane again has been difficult. read more

I would give a 0 if possible. I have never dealt with such a poorly run outfit in my life and I am in my 70's! There is no communication between business and customers. They don't show up and don't contact you to let you know and then they show up several days later w/o letting you know. Don't even try to call......you will be on hold for HOURS and never get to speak to a person. There is NO customer sevice. I can't get an answer to a question about my bill. I have no intentions to pay said bill until I get an answer to my question. read more

Horrible company. Their payment system is a joke. If you are on their budget plan, you have to make payments year round to "fund" your account and if you dont want to pay for heat in july, they will pester you with calls. If you get taken off the budget plan, you must pay the entire balance in full or get late fees added and they will not deliver until balance is payed- but of course they dont mention this. Terrible system for those who generally make partial payments monthly. Do yourself a favor and get an electric furnace instead. read more

This company was great until Superior Plus bought them out. Now it is a disaster. Unable to get deliveries and nobody is available via telephone unless you are willing to wait on hold for an hour or more. The local drivers are great but their hands are tied and they are unable to do anything about the issues. read more

I am on auto refill but they did not show and my tank went empty. They did refill my tank but now I received a $200 bill for an inactivity fee. I have spent over 5 hours on hold and spoke to two agents over the past week, neither said they could help and had to email the department that handles because they weren't available by phone. I have been a customer for 9 years. The Superior acquisition ruined this company. read more

I had no problem with their service but they are very expensive compared to other companies. When you cancel service they leave their tank sitting in your yard for months and when they finally decide to come get it they charge $165. read more

DO NOT USE OR SWITCH AT ALL COSTS. We switched from Amerigas years ago to revere which was bought by quarels and it seems superior has bought quarels. All was good until this year. Like many others we are supposed to be on auto fill. We prebuy and pay up front to get the best price possible. Just before this latest storm I decided to check the tank. Just had a feeling. I look and I am at 10%. I call and was told they would put in a ticket to get it done asap but since we weren't out it wasn't an emergency. This was on 1-24. Then in looking in the website, it says an auto ticket was put in on 1-6!!! Two weeks. Is an acceptable time frame for delivery. Not 3+. At this point we have had the snow and today the driver refused to come down my driveway which is flat and I have taken my 2 wheel drive vehicle out of since Tuesday. It's now Thursday. It blows my mind that their driver isn't capable of dealing with some packed ice and snow. Especially knowing that people depend on their product for heat and food prep. To top it all off I called the number, was on hold for 30 minutes before a woman answered the phone and after explaining the situation, and asking when they were coming back out, why the ticket was done in the 6th and I had to call to get bumped up almost 3 weeks after, and now a driver is refusing to come up my driveway till it's plowed I get hung up on after asking to speak to a supervisor. I was told they had hundreds of calls they had to get to and I was given all the information they could give me. Customer service and work ethic are non existent. Do yourself a favor and don't sign up or switch if you can. We didn't ask for this but inherited it unfortunately and we will be switching. I have two 120 gallon tanks, one behind my garage that I used to heat my garage and one behind my house that runs my stove and my patio heater. I called them back at the beginning of Feb. 2025 to come get the tank behind my garage as I had a Mini-split HVAC installed in my garage and don't need the tank any longer........they sent a truck to fill my tanks!? I told the driver about this and he called headquarters and handed me his phone to talk to them and I told them the story again and for them please come get the tank. It's still setting there behind my garage.....March 2025 has now come and gone so I sent an email to the company and said this story to them and have never received a replay...... Now it's April and the tank is still setting there behind my garage! My question to the world is, IS THIS COMPANY STILL IN BUSSINESS? If not is the tank behind my garage mine now? read more

Superior Plus Propane corruption at its best: Customers are locked into these Monopoly typed businesses unless you can afford to pay them to remove their propane tank from your residence. Supposedly they monitor your tank usage from their online website. My discovery. I am on automatic shipment. My outside tank reads 4% filled. Their online monitor/meter reads 68% filled. Last updated September 2025. It is January 2026 and they cannot provide delivery for a week. Really! I am on automatic delivery! The added kicker? According to their website, if you run out of propane, you pay for them to do safety checks and turn you back on. This is a gimmick at the expense of the customer. If I am charged, I will file every complaint I can find online. On top of this, I had to wait over an hour for them to answer the telephone for assistance. Unbelievable. My suggestion, don't switch to Superior Plus Propane. Its not superior. Its just a company you are stuck with. Sort of like the VA, usless. read more

DO NOT use this company. During the cold spell here in VA we called with ample (2 weeks time) for propane refill (heats our house and runs our fire place and stove) and after a 3 hour wait on the phone was told 1 month for delivery. I have MS and it is imperative I keep a stable temperature. They don't care! Finally I got in touch with corporate here in the US (they are now owned by a Canadian Co and the US people are daft at best.) and the propane was delivered when we were down to our last drop (literally.) We now changed to Adams Propane who are stellar. Before Adams could deliver new tanks (we rent them) we had to use up the bulk of propane from Superior. Called Superior to cancel our account and it took 2 months for them to pick up their tanks which Adams had moved to the side of the house. Again, had to contact corporate to get this job done. They are a horror show! Run don't walk from this horrific company. read more

They let our tank go to zero, and admitted they saw the reading at zero at their headquarters. No one filled or topped off the tank for over 12 months. We woke up smelling gas, the house was freezing on Feb. 8, 2024 when it was in the 20's outside. We had to open windows, doors, etc. They called back but could not even give any window of time for the delivery. Gross Negligence, beyond unacceptable! read more

Do not use this company. They came highly recommended by our generator company. Sadly, they've been a huge disappointment every step of the way-from installing a new tank (took months after they started, and they never filled in the trench), to delivery (they pay zero attention to the weather and plan ahead to make sure your tank is full). Just asked for an urgent delivery prior to a windstorm, as hubby had surgery and won't be able to clear the driveway of downfall if needed, and she cheerfully told me they can't help. They have an order process on the website, except it's not active. They monitor our tank, yet make no decisions based on that information. So, stay away!!! read more

I have tried to get someone to go to my decease mother's home since March 1, 2022. I have requested to have their gas tank picked up so any refund that should be issued can be released. When I first called in March I was advised to allow 30 days from the date I called, before someone would come out. Needless to say it has been 3 months just to get a pick up, that is truly unacceptable. I'm sure the larger they take to pick up the tank the less amount the refund will be, if any. read more

This place doesn't seem aimed at refilling the average bbq grill propane tank, but they do refill them quickly and at a reasonable price. You are in and out in no time. IMHO, a decent place to get your propane tank refilled. read more

I have now done business with VA Propane three times. As a renter, I have no option on which company my landlord leases tanks from, therefore I have no choice on what company I can use. I will probably not renew the lease on an awesome home due to VA Propane. The drama increases with each interaction. I am a COD customer, yet each time recieved invoices from them either in something I had already paid for or never ordered. Of course, if I do not pay erroneous charges, I will not have heat the next time I need propane. The customer service people know that people in my situation are locked in with this company and treat us accordingly. I have gone over their heads to management and that only accomplishes a higher level of disrespect. Each interaction with this company results in double the drama of the previous interaction and almost a double in financial commitment from each previous order. read more

I went online to request a delivery. I had 30% in the 120 gallon tank. It was a Saturday . Within 30 mins or less, the Truck was out in the street . I was shocked. Very nice polite Delivery Man , I had some Azaleas that have grown up pretty tight around the Tank, and he did not get an attitude or make me feel bad about it. So glad I switched from Amerigas. I waited too long to make the switch to Virginia Propane. read more

They gave me a great price on my propane, have been out to fix or install a line or two and in emergency situations they have been to my house in 2 hours or less. Three times we have ran out of propane. Customer service could care less and no one will return a call or respond to an email. Told us we had a gas leak and were required to leave our home for three days to discover there was no leak. We could go on and on with how poor the service is with this company. read more

Very disappointed with Company's customer service. We ordered a service to connect our new propane cooktop the first half of January. We we told that the field operations manager will contact us to schedule the work. We never had the call with the manager and after three (3) follow up calls with the office we were contacted and scheduled the service. The manager was the one that came to performed the service on 2/18/2022 (Friday) around 11:00am. Once arrived, he said he will have to go to the store to buy some supplies and come back. He came back around 3:00pm and began the work. He noted that the case is a bit complex and he will have to consult with someone at the company with more experience how to perform the actual hookup. Per his statement, he did a temporary hookup without any shutoff valves for the cooktop and boiler in order for us to be able to use the cooktop with the promise to be back Monday or Tuesday (Feb 21-22, 2022) to finish the work. As of today. March17, 2022 and two (2) additional follow ups with the office, I am still waiting on the service to be completed, almost 2 months after my initial request. After each call at the office I am told that the technician will contact me very shortly...???? Not sure the company really wants me as a customer at this point... read more

Great company to deal with. They under-promise and over-deliver, every time. They were even willing to send a tech out to show me how to use my propane-powered devices, since the landlord couldn't be bothered to do it. Extremely happy with their service. My parents acquired the service about 10 years or so ago. I never see them, we just write a cheque. Had a leak in our regulator, guy was in my back yard in less than 20 minutes after I called the office. Guy was really professional and did not partake in any of my antics or gratitude. It's been a colder than normal winter and Dominion dropped the ball. Left my entire neighborhood in the dark for 2 days. turned it on and off it burned my brand new heating units circuit board. But thanks to Generac no loss in my 3 freezers or anything in the way of life. After looking at the gauges in my twin 120 lb tanks I needed to top off. I'm not sure who answered the phone over there but this is the reason i am leaving this review. Before I could finish talking, she not only had my account pulled up, but was ready for any requests. I was giving her time to put in my order, and she was waiting on my questions... fast, reliable,....I felt so dumb after she explained why they never really filled my tanks all the way to full.... I do not use propane in the summer, that's when they topped them off. I use propane only for my generator, 15 minutes a week.... I only look at the tanks in the winter. God bless that lady who answered and if the owner reads these. you had better do what ever you can to keep her as long as you can.... They did a great job installing the tank for our fireplace and bleed the system before testing the fireplace for proper operation.

We've been trying to call them all day (1/2/18). Was on hold one time for over 20 min. Just tried again and still get the music recording. Working with them though (once you can talk to them) is a pleasure. read more
