    Called to end service at an apartment and a home and start service at a new rental June 2024 and…read morethey only transferred service and never stopped apartment or home. Few months after initial call I called and again requested end service at apartment and home, and they ended service at home but I later found out not at the apartment. After my call in June 2024, I start to get two emails each month: one stating it was a new bill for the apartment and that the amount due is "0.00", the other saying the recurring payment is "Aborted" and "has been stopped" for the apartment account. In April 2025 I changed the automatic payment for my bill (for the new rental) and then realized that they were still billing me for the apartment I hadn't lived in for 9 months because I was now getting automated withdrawals from two checking accounts. I called City of Richmond and they said they had no record of me asking at my last two calls (which were documented) that I needed to cancel service at the apartment (which was one of main reasons I called them twice before). City of Richmond further ignored the fact that I've been getting monthly emails from them since July 2024 about the apartment account stating that 0.00 was being billed and that my auto payment was being aborted. They told me they would not reimburse me anything (blaming me for not canceling service even though called them twice to do so) and said to ask the apartment complex to see if they will cover the inappropriate billing statements since my lease ended (August 2024). This is an absurd request since this was City of Richmond's issue all along and an apartment company is not going to pay me for the erroneously charged utility bills. If you look at all the reviews posted it is clear I'm not along in being screwed by City of Richmond Utilities. Sucks there is nowhere to go for help and no other utility company to choose from. Probably why they are so bad as there is nothing the average consumer can do to challenge their horrible customer service.

    I have used this service at least once a year for the past 6+ years. Their service is pricey but…read morethe agents are usually knowledgeable and respectful. So why the low rating? Well there have been two visits that were unsatisfactory in a major way. Both were for servicing my furnaces ( I have two). The first one they said I needed a part, they were ordering it and would come back to fix the furnace. They NEVER came back and every call over the course of 2 years never got anything other than "we will leave a message" for someone whose title sounded more official. They never fixed it to this day. Why did I continue with them? They are easier to get appointments with that don't put you several weeks out and the services for my generator have gone great even when a part was needed. Fast forward to yesterday. I had a tech come just for my tune up ( I usually do winter and summer to make sure I'm ready for the season changes). They look at the furnaces to see if everything is good and they vacuum things out. It is a good price for that service. Yesterday, my adult daughter was home for the tech visit ( I was home but in a class). The tech let my daughter know that he accidentally dislodged the wire to inducer motor and shorted out the control board. He stated that the furnace was still heating but the blower would be on continuously. He said he would be back the next day to fix it once he ordered the part. The house was still warm and seemingly putting out heat at that time. During the night, ai noticed it got colder. At 5:50am, I went to check the thermostat at it read 55 degrees! I immediately went to turn it up and saw that it was set for our usual 72 degrees. THE FURNACE IS NOW BROKEN! I call Micheal and Sons at 6:00am and talked to an agent who has started the "I will send a message" speech. I am not ok! My furnace was working fine and now we are not a priority to fix what they broke. I will begin calling every hour to try and speak with one of those "gonna make it right" supervisors that I have never spoken to. If they keep their word and come fix what they broke today, I will post to relay that. For now, I am freezingly disgruntled!... UPDATE After 4 calls and 3 transfers, I finally was allowed to speak with a supervisor! He finally understood that I was not complaining that the tech accidentally broke a part but that I needed him to know that the furnace would only blow cold air ( tech thought it would keep warming the house). I needed him to know it was now urgent and they finally got it! The same tech ( who was always polite) returned with the part and was able to set things back in order! The thermostat read 61 inside the house at 3:00 in the afternoon when we entered. So I increased their stars by one. Not a reflection on the tech but on the persons who take the calls. The tech gets 5 stars for his honesty and follow through.
