Everything is always top quality and the customer service is by far some of the best I have had at a butcher. Their recommendation are always on point and they even will provide you ice packs on request for your freezer bag if you are going to be doing some shopping or have a decent drive back home. I love that they are well knowledgeable about all the products and take the time if you ask to explain the differences in the meats and how they should be cooked for the best experience. If you are ever by the grove or farmers market ask for Brandon (likes to go by B) or Byron they are always willing to help and make sure you are more than satisfied with your purchase. The great thing about them is that they are father (Byron) and son (Brandon) which means they are passing down the skill set and knowledge regarding butchery and meats. If you are in the area or have the means to travel I definitely recommend supporting this establishment at least for your ultra premium, exotic, or seasonal meats.

Marconda's is a family owned and operated butcher located in Los Angeles. Established in 1941,…read moreMarconda's is the oldest standing meat market in Los Angeles, it is also the best. It is a must stop whenever you are in town. They have the best steaks you will find and they are not even famous for that, more their great chicken and other meats. Their steaks are so great and you must grill them and don't make them well done. While Puritan Poultry has been around for a while you will find none better than at this place. It just can't be beat. Although not as large as the main meat stall, don't let the size fool you. They will skin, cut, de-bone, or just about anything else on your poultry order. There are 3 generations working behind the counter. They need to business, don't let the huge markets put them out of business. They are the best. The place is so cute and boy is it clean.

One time, my friend had a bbq on his rooftop and started cooking up some New York strips and…read moreribeyes. When I ate them, I was like what is this??? This is SOOOO good. Then I had to pry and figure out where he bought them. The first time I looked for the stand, I couldn't find it and gave up. The second time, I figured it out and it's to the right of the second fruit and veggie stand when you walk in (which has really good produce actually). I've bought maybe half of their stuff here. My favorites are as follows: The prime bone in ribeye is the best thing they have here. It's better than A LOT of restaurants. The cow is from California and it's all that special stuff that you want in a quality piece of meat. Next is the veal chop. Then it's the Niman ranch pork chop. After that it's the breakfast sausages, then it's the bacon. The taste on these items are absolutely insane. I think it's one of the things that got me back into cooking, because you can buy a quality restaurant tier pork chop for $12.99 a pound, and you don't have to go drop over $50 (maybe even $60 or $70 now from inflation) for the same type of pork chop at a restaurant. For the non Japanese Wagyu cuts, I personally don't like the flavor as much. But that's a personal preference. Some people love non Japanese Wagyu over prime but I don't. Anyway here's some pictures of the meat. Oh yeah the service is really good and the ambiance is nice because you're at the farmer's market! You can also ask a bunch of questions and they're all pretty much meat experts here.

For brisket, they only roll it by hand, which my family insists on, so there's no way we can skip this place. Their top-quality tenderloin cuts are also perfect for bulgogi. Honestly, for our family, we have to use this cut for mille-feuille nabe--anything else for shabu-shabu feels too tough, no matter how soft it looks. Everyone in the house knows this is the only cut that truly satisfies. They even have meat for yukhoe 육회(Korean beef tartare), and when we buy it, we enjoy it so much at home. At this price, it's unbeatable. If we go out to eat, it costs around $35 for such a small portion, but here we get everything we want in one stop.
