TL:DR; Not an honest company. Charged over $1000 to replace garage door opener unit after they couldn't fix our existing unit. Our garage door stopped working, so I contacted Superior Garage Door on 12/9/24 because they are the servicer of genie garage doors in SGV. They were able to schedule same day repair. When Mark, the technician, arrived I told him I suspected the logic board not functioning. Mark quickly dismissed my suggestion and told us he'll find the problem. He ended up replacing the capacitor and charged us $182 for the repair and parts. That same night, the garage door wouldn't open. The next day I called Superior Garage Door and was told they'd be sending the technician out again and wouldn't charge us unless another part needs to be replaced. This time when Mark arrived, he didn't bother checking the garage door opener unit, but just stated "You got a bad logic board." He informed us we'd have to get a new garage door opener. We asked how much that would cost and he quoted us $800 and told us it could be done next week. Before he left, we asked him since his repair didn't remedy anything, if we could apply the service and repair charge towards the new garage door opener. Mark said sure but to have the installer call him because he doesn't do installations. 12/18/24: Our new garage door opener was installed and when it came time to pay, we told them to call Mark about applying the previous charge to the bill. The installer told us they would apply $120 off, and proceeded to hand us a bill for $832! This exceeded the cost Mark originally quoted us EVEN after applying the cost of the previous failed repair (also notice they only gave us $120 off but charged us $182 on the first visit). In the end, we were charged over $1000 to replace our garage door opener unit. Google says the cost of a new garage door opener with installation typically costs $600. Don't get bamboozled by this dishonest company. read more

When the garage door came off the tracks late last Saturday night my wife and I were extremely worried. I want to start this review by saying I really wanted to give Superior Garage Door five stars.... Unfortunately, below is our recent experience using them. About two months ago the wife backed into the garage door before it fully opened. *A total accident honey so don't kill me for saying it happened! :-) We called Superior and they were able to come out that afternoon and totally save our butt by getting the door closed and secure despite the damage. Hence, my really wanting this to be a five star review. We purchased a top of the line custom door and a new opener from them that day and were quoted a 4 week turn time. Skip ahead 4 weeks...... They came out and installed the door and opener as promised and on time. The door was/is beautiful. We were disappointed when we were told the opener was not compatible with the garage door opener system that came with either of our cars, and neither was over 3 years old. It would have been nice to have been told this up front. We might possible have gone with a different opener or one we purchased elsewhere. Skip ahead about two weeks.... the wife comes in the house all upset. She got in the car, opened the door and the door opener did not open the door all the way. She hit it again, but fortunately she was going slow and there was no damage. She was VERY upset at herself for doing it again to the brand new door. Her car got scratched by the hit as well. Two days later, I opened the door from the button on the wall and noticed the door did not go up all the way. It stopped an entire panel short of opening. Just enough to not let a car pass. I was thrilled to tell the wife it was not her fault and proceeded to call Superior and left a message asking them to come out and look at the opener. The next day, my wife received a call back from the wife of the owner. She asked my wife what she did wrong to cause the problem. When my wife said the door did not open all the way she told my wife that could not happen and actually accused my wife of having taller tires put on her Tahoe. She finally sent someone out and he told us it was operator error and even went so far as to put a red mark on the track to "show us" that if it happened again it was our fault. Not nice! Jump ahead another week ( Thursday) . My wife comes home from work and clicks the door open. It only goes up to the last panel again. My wife, upset as you might guess, calls and leaves a message for Superior, as they closed at 4:30. By 10:00am the next morning, they still haven't called back. So, my wife calls Friday Morning, and gets the owner of the establishment again. She said my wife's message was rude and there was nothing wrong with the door opener. We offered to send her photos, but she said she had no way to receive them. She finally agreed to send someone out on Monday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. but my wife had to be there so the tech could "show her how to use the garage door opener properly". My wife took the day off to comply with her request. As you might guess, they never called and never showed. My wife called the next day and the owners wife said she wrote our phone number down wrong. Even though they had all three of our numbers, home and cells, in their computer. No excuse or apology offered. After the wife of the owner chastising my wife for being upset about taking the day off, she told her they would send someone out Thursday morning between 8:00am and 9:00am. This time I stayed and waited. At 9:45am my wife called and they said the appointment is on the schedule for Friday and we would have to just wait. Friday, they finally came and replaced the garage door opener motor unit. The installers who work at this company are very nice, professional, and do a good job. We were thrilled they were able to help us get the initial door closed and secured. However, the attitude of the owner of this company's wife, forces us to take the review from five stars to two, and even then I think two is a gift. I understand the owners wife is something like 72, but this does not excuse her behavior! For now, as long as the current ownership is in place, we cannot recommend Superior Garage Door for anyone. read more
