I came here on a Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch with some friends.
The place was absolutely packed and we were lucky to get a table after giving our party size. In addition to seating on the first floor, there is a second floor with more tables and booths.
The decor had a white and beige aesthetic, with some lingering Christmas decor, and the atmosphere felt very modern. Metal spoons, forks, wooden chopsticks, and napkins were in a drawer under each table while water in a glass bottle and paper cups were provided by the serving staff.
While there is a QR code at each table where we could scan to place our order and pay online via their me&u website, we placed our order at the front door cashier and paid cash.
The menu options were plentiful and the main menu options included ramen, Japanese tapas, udon, soba, curry rice, nigiri, sushi rolls, and more. In addition, they serve bento boxes/teishoku sets, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and dessert. They also have menu tabs for vegetarians and gluten-free. At the front near street side, they have sushi grab-and-go.
I ordered today's special, Cha Shu Pork Abura Ramen, which is a soupless ramen with chewy noodles to be tossed with a savory soy-garlic oil sauce. It was topped with chashu pork, green onion, pickles, and a silky onsen egg. It included a free miso soup on the side; the soup came out HOT and was very pleasant to start.
Our dishes came on a serving robot which was very cute and we absolutely loved.
The ramen itself was fantastic, which I'd absolutely recommend for anyone unsure what to get here. We also ordered okonomiyaki (from their tapas menu), which is a Japanese teppanyaki savory pancake dish. Their okonomiyaki, glazed with tonkatsu mayo, was delicious, and one I'll remember to always order as a dish to share with the table.
I had a positive experience dining at Superhiro, and will be bookmarking this spot to revisit when I'm back in Melbourne! read more
