UPDATE 2025: 42 and Perimenopausal -- I Gained 10 lbs Out of Nowhere and Lost It Fast with Rebecca!…read more I'm 42 and perimenopausal symptoms hit hard earlier this year. I used to crave my 5 a.m. workouts -- Peloton, weights, all of it -- but the fatigue and hormones threw me through a loop, and my consistency totally fell apart. Even when I did get workouts in, nothing was changing, and I was at a loss. When I started working with Rebecca late July, I found out she was very experienced and knowledgeable with perimenopause -- not just with how your workouts need to change and focus more on strength training, but how a woman needs to shift her diet. As a stay-at-home mom, I have to admit my diet was more focused on everyone else first, and then I'd eat the same easy "meals" or scraps and leftovers on the go! It was a huge lifestyle change to shift to Rebecca's meal plan, but it has literally changed my life. I've lost 10 lbs and completely reshaped my body using only home gym equipment and exercises tailored around my limitations and injuries (I can't hold more than 12 lb dumbbells or curl more than 8). Please note that I'm 5'5 and normally 124 so coming back down from the weight gain that shot me up to 133 isn't a walk in the park! Rebecca is that good! And... this is without any extra cardio -- just her strength-based workouts, structure, and meal planning. The accountability and nutritional expertise in this stage of life have been massive. I tell my husband, "Thank God for Rebecca," every day -- no joke. Because on the days I don't see her, I don't have the energy to even do cardio, but her sessions keep me on track. Even with several vacations and nights out, we've still moved the needle so much! Rebecca truly understands how to train and fuel a woman's body in perimenopause. I feel strong, consistent, and confident again -- without burnout or endless cardio.

What started out as a journey to become healthier and tone muscle with a goal of reduced inches in my midsection and chest became a reality for me.  Starting with a weight of 135 pounds  in January, with the personal training & nutritional guidelines of Rebecca, my weight was 121 by the end of May. In total a 10% weight loss, Losing 4 to 5 inches while shrinking   various parts of my midsection. I can definitely tell the difference in my muscle tone and definition.  Overall, I feel so much healthier and now look forward to my weekly workouts with her as I continue to tone & achieve muscle definition.  Rebecca makes the workouts interesting, challenging, and fun. I'm glad I took steps to focus on my health.

Hotworx Westchase (Odessa) is conveniently located just a short 7 minute drive from my house and…read morethey are open 24 hrs a day. They also have staffed hours if you need to bring a guest, make purchases, or need to speak to someone in person. Location and convenience are perks, but it's not the sole reason why I love this fitness studio. Let me begin by saying that the staff is friendly, so helpful, and amazing. They also do a great job at keeping everything clean. What has me hooked are the infrared sauna workouts and the workout space in the back. I have autoimmune issues and the 40-minute ISO workouts in 125F degree temp works wonders for me. It helps reduce inflammation and get a better sweat than I do at the gym. The heat helps deepen my stretches and reduces any tendon or joint pain I have. It also helps me relax and clear my head, which improves my sleep. Lastly, the workout space in the back has a full line of dumbells and equipment that's perfect for toning and building muscle. I don't take advantage of their Infrared Heated HIIT workouts because it's not recommended with autoimmune disease as it can trigger symptoms and fatigue. However, I see a lot of people benefitting from those HIIT classes combined with ISO classes. Full disclosure, I have a gym membership where I do cardio and most of my weight training about 4x a week. I go to HOTWORX 3x a week or more if I have the time. My initial reason for joining was for the infrared sauna benefits and for yoga/stretching. I'm happy to say that it has become more. I still enjoy Horworx's Hot yoga and Hot Stretch classes, but I've also started taking other Hot Iso classes and have been weight training in the back. Every now and then I do my physical therapy exercises and stretches in the saunas instead of a Hotworx class, which has been a game changer with my physical therapy and recovery. Whether you are looking for one place to workout at or if you're like me and looking for a 2nd fitness studio to supplement or to change up your fitness routine, I highly recommend the Hotworx Westchase location in Odessa.

I had the great fortune to find Dara through Yelp reviews as I was searching for some…read morephysical/mental/emotional help after losing our son on this earth to a car crash when someone ran a red light and killed him instantly. I had gained a lot of weight due to the stress and cortisol that was released in my body along with not getting much good sleep at all for months. I knew my son would want me to grab a hold of my life and get things a bit back on track. I interviewed a few people and once I talked with Dara over a phone consultation I knew she was the perfect person to help me. I am now 3 months in and am the strongest I have been in years thanks to our strength training. I can lift my own luggage up into the overhead bin with no soreness. I can get up and down stairs fantastically now (even though I had a partial knee replacement 2 years ago). My mental health is more aligned with my goals of navigating this grief journey with moments of joy along with sadness. Dara is fantastic at adapting my workouts to my limitations and age. I know that the clothes will fit better and better as I continue the good work with her. I feel that if I had not had 6 additional deaths since the loss of my son eight months ago that I would be even further along in my toning and conditioning; however having to fly to funerals has set me back but Dara stays right by me, coaching me along, and being my biggest cheerleader and advocate. At the age of 63, I have made the best investment in myself that I could possibly make at this time. Her in-home studio is filled with all types of equipment so that my workouts are varied and effective. Her outside studio is fun to tackle on the Florida days that allow outside workouts. I have learned so much about nutrition, our body's chemical makeup, and more from Dara. BEST MONEY SPENT EVER on me!

When wedding day came around I had lost about 20 lbs. and toned up! I felt so calm on my wedding day. I believe my workouts really helped to manage my stress leading up to that day and Dara was always there to keep me focused and encouraged! She won't let you give up! I am not going to quit now that the wedding is over. After the honeymoon I got right back on schedule. Dara wants her clients to be happy and successful. I went to a 5:30 barre class and during the warmup began feeling very lightheaded. I hadn't eaten enough, and I just realized it. I sat down a couple time during the class (which felt especially awkward since there were only 3 people in class) because I feared I'd pass out. This happens a lot to me, but it's not fun. I felt the color flush from my cheeks. The instructor checked on me quietly to make sure I was fine, and had the front desk attendant follow up. I was eating nuts in the lounge area and the front desk girl offered me an ice pack and protein bar. I took the bar and ate it but still wasn't feeling well. She checked on me again and offered to give me a free class pass so I could come back and actually enjoy the workout. She cleaned up my mat and equipment for me and told me to feel better. As someone who's fainted at concerts, doctor's offices, fast food restaurants, and everywhere else, I know how embarrassing it can be. These ladies made me feel so comforted!!!
