The installer and electrician were also polite and explained exactly what they are doing. The owner, Chris handled all permits (village, ConEd, state). Installation was done in two days. Very clean work -- no debris left behind and minimal holes drilled, etc. Panels are working and our electricity use is often net zero -- even in the middle of winter!

We spoke with Chris, the president of the company, during our initial meeting where he explained everything we needed to know and what to expect from the proposed system. I had met with a couple other installers as well, and the specs of the pitch are basically the same with the regard the benefits of having solar power. What I appreciated about Chris and SunBlue was that he never was overly pushy, nor using "salesman" type tactics, and truly felt like he just wanted to make sure we had all the information we needed for the decision. They were also willing to work with us on the price and configuration as well. Also, all installers present a similar cost-saving estimate, but there's sometimes sleight-of-hand with the values they populate for ConEd energy rates and expected increases. SunBlue's estimates for these numbers seems like the most reasonable and comparable to our actual bills. After we signed the agreement with them, the process could not have been more seamless. SunBlue took care of everything you'd expect: designing, permits, inspections, etc, without us ever having to think about anything. The office was always very communicative during the process, and we were always well-informed about the progress. The install itself took place in less than a day and the city inspection was complete and all permits closed out the next day. The whole process was complete about 8 weeks after we signed the agreement. This efficiency was definitely appreciated with how quickly the clean energy incentives are being removed these days. After our system was fully connected with ConEd, Chris came back again to see how everything went and to go over again all of the details of the system. It's been about a month since we started generating energy, and while it was a very hot and sunny August, it was still nice to see that the system generated 30% more than what was projected. All in all, again would highly recommend choosing SunBlue.

WARNING !! DON'T!! This is not a 5 star this is a 0 Star rating…read more I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Solar Bear Energy. While the solar and battery system was installed, the project has not been properly commissioned or verified, and repeated follow-up attempts have gone unanswered. The battery backup did engage during a grid outage, however no on-site testing, load verification, or simulated outage test has ever been performed. As the homeowner, I was never shown or provided written confirmation of: * Which circuits are backed up * Expected battery runtime under load * That the system performs as designed during an outage I have sent multiple emails over several weeks requesting basic commissioning and verification, including a simple on-site test. These requests have largely gone unanswered or received minimal responses that do not address the issues. A solar and battery system is a major investment. Proper testing, communication, and follow-through should be standard -- especially before considering a project complete. Unfortunately, due to the lack of responsiveness and failure to properly verify the system, I cannot recommend Solar Bear Energy at this time. ALSO DONT USE THE FINANCIAL CREDIT UNION THEY USE TO GIVE YOU A LOAN its all a scam!!

Despite multiple follow-ups, they failed to perform a simulated outage test, clearly confirm which circuits are backed up, or provide written verification that the system works as designed. Communication eventually stopped. Very disappointing experience for a project of this size. I don't recommend anyone to use their service. Note: they will sell it as if they know what they are doing and half of the time you are the one telling them what to do. They outsource the work and you basically become the project manager. Don't waste your time or money on this company. I don't know how this company can have good reviews. Don't fall for it.

Let me give you an example - Lou met me at house in Englewood for an estimate on several electrical problems that needed to be fixed. His examination was very thorough and also quite efficient. He took less time than I expected and he found other problems that needed to be addressed. By the way, getting the written estimate didn't take days either which is a very big plus. He's also considerate. When a contractor says he'll be there at, for example, 9 am what usually happens? You wait and wait and wait. Not with Lou. He comes on time and if he is running late, he calls to apologize and tell you how late he'll be. The truth is that contractors budget time for a job and sometimes when they get there discover it needs more time. So they can get delayed. Lou doesn't leave you hanging in the wind - he calls to say he's sorry and this is now when he'll be to you. He appreciates your business and doesn't abuse your time. Isn't this great? So Lou Zimick gets a As Good As It Gets from me for being a terrific electrician with excellent customer service.

I won't use them again.
