The man behind the till kept humming though. And not the same tune that was playing out the speakers. It was most bizarre and unfortunately that fact alone cemented my resolve not to go back again, mostly because there's a perfectly good Boots near my work. And this one is always busy.

It is spilt into to number of sections in including baby, beauty and so on. As well as selling big name brands it also stocks many of it own brands products at very reasonable prices. There makeup range No7 is excellet and so are the No7 beauty products. They often run excellent offers like BOGOF and 3 for 2. I managed to somehow get 6 cans of right guard for the price of one as they were on both BOGOF and 3 for 2 at the same time although I expect this was glich. I will certainly be popping in more often to check the special offers.

I find the layout in the Burnley branch a little confused which means I tend to wander aimlessly down all the aisles in search of what I'm looking for. There are rarely any staff on the shop floor and those on the tills don't seem particularly knowledgeable or helpful. If you're looking for customer service then you probably won't find it here but if you're in search of some offers on products you would have bought anyway then it's worthy of a visit.

The shop is accessible to everyone, you don't have to be travelling. It has a pretty good range of stock, geared towards holidays and travel - it does mean you can get your sun tan lotion in the middle of winter, also they sell a good range of travel size toiletries too. One word of warning though - be aware of the security restrictions on liquids in cabin luggage. I'd recommend buying anything BEFORE you check in so you can slip your purchases into you're suitcase. The other thing to note is that the drinks, snacks and sweets they sell don't have a mark-up on which makes this the cheapest place to stock up on munchies for your flight! (but you can't take bottled drinks though security!)

It is actually located next store to rival brand, Superdrug, this is something I always find amusing, the one advantage this store has over Superdrug is that they have a Pharmacy inside Boots, which is useful for picking up medications when in Bradford city centre. Although the Pharmacy could be greatly improved as the hours are limited. The Pharmacy shuts considerably earlier than the rest of the store, it closes at 17:30 during the week, which in my opinion is far too early for a city centre, especially when the store opens until 7 pm. It closes earlier on weekends too at 15:30, do they think people fail to get sick in the afternoon and early evening? The selection inside the store was good, there was a large selection of gift cards, and the selection of men's products including toiletries was good. Prices are competitive with offers available including Student Discount and Boots Advantage. 3*

It is conveniently located beside the local GP / Health centre, offers a prescription service for those needing regular repeats, and has a private room for consultations and checkups. Staff are generally friendly and knowledgeable about medicines and minor illnesses / injuries. It lets itself down by not having sufficient amounts of prescription medicines in stock; with staff often asking customers to return later in the day or the following one. It causes further inconvenience by remaining closed due to the qualified pharmacist not being available, which happens quite often. Sometimes, there are three or four people outside the front door at 8.30am waiting to collect medicines promised the previous day but pharmacy assistants cannot open up or handover owed items unless and until the pharmacist arrives. Not sure whether this is problem exclusively to the Whalley store but it is certainly a problem and causes a lot of inconvenience to people using its services. Even more so considering that some will have had to pay £1.00 for parking on the Whalley Arms care park!!

It's basic, the sandwiches are not gourmet, but you get a drink and some crisps with it so it was good enough for me in my pauper days. I always found the staff to be friendly, one used to offer advice on hair dye as we both dye our hair red, and they usually stocked some decent make-up to boot! It may not be a killer destination for some hot shopping but for cheap goods and all things beauty, it's certainly a start! Plus they sell hair shampoo in a can - a total lifesaver if you've hair as long as mine and you're in a rush! One small note - the alarms are set off super-easily, quite often I'd leave and they'd bleep blue murder! Once I even had my bag checked, which never makes anyone feel good... Just a warning!

This is a nice Boots store, located inside Leeds' White Rose Shopping Centre. The store is a little…read moresmaller than I would have the selection, but the store is well-stocked for a store of its' size in most areas and is fairly easy to find what you're looking for if it is stocked. The store has the newer Boots branding, which I prefer. No Opticians here but there is a small area dedicated to Boots Hearingcare. If you're looking for a Boots Opticians, you'll either have to visit their branch in Leeds city centre or head to Morley which are both a reasonable distance away. I was particularly impressed by the selection of men's toiletries and oral products including toothpaste. Looking at the negative side of things, I do find it frustrating how they shut the Pharmacy at 7 pm, which is two hours before the main store shuts, and the selection of to-go food and drink in the fridge section is very disappointing, and is much reduced compared to their other stores. 3*
