Really poor customer service here and not all the stylist know what they are doing. You should not ask for Kay as she rushes through her job and does not care whether the haircut actually makes a person look good or not. My husband and 3 boys have been going to this location for 3 years now and you'd think the stylists would actually care about their haircuts but they don't. Today she cut my teenage boy's hair claiming she followed all of his instructions without actually thinking through what style he came in and what he was hoping for - mainly a trim but keeping his current style. He ended up crying in his chair and the only thing she had to say was to defend herself that she gave him exactly what he wanted. No offer to fix it, no real understanding nor acknowledgement that she just butchered his hair to the point of no style. Sad to trust your hair to someone so careless. What is the point of making an appointment if you're are not going to keep it. Set an appointment for 1:15, which gave myself a 30 minute buffer which should have been enough. And the employees could not even articulate what the actual wait would be. Wasted my time and gas, and lost my opportunity to get my hair cut. read more

Do NOT take your kids here. They don't care about you or them. They didn't even say hi to our child when we walked in. Then she asked if he could sit still and basically told us to leave because she can't do it. There was no effort. She went in the back and was whispering negative things to coworkers. The first time Mariana cut my hair it was acceptable, although not wonderful. The second time I asked her to style it with the blow dryer. She replied that she was not going to do so because it was a busy day. (There were 3 stylists in the shop and very few customers.) She then proceeded to cut my hair very fast and gave me one of the worst hair cuts of my life. I have short, straight hair that requires careful cutting. She chopped it, blending it poorly, and cut it so short that I will have to wait a month to get a better stylist to fix it. When I expressed my dismay, she told me to have someone else cut it. I will NEVER go back to Supercuts. You get what you pay for. read more

Ok, Ok - Barber Shops are not like restaurants in their consistency. Depending upon the stylist, time of day, amount of people, and a billion other factors, many Yelp reviewers feel just as confident and convinced that this place is a one star as those that are equally convinced it's a 5 star. I get it, and I respect all reviews. However, for me, my experience was a 5. I walked in on a Monday afternoon after checking in online and was immediately seated. I told Minju exactly what I wanted, and she proceeded expertly and efficiently to give me a great haircut I was done in 10 - 12 minutes, paid the fairest price for a haircut in Boston, and left completely satisfied. Looks like it's been a while since someone reviewed this place so I'll write the review I wish I read. This salon is by Star Market so it's convenient to get your hair cut here and then look fabulous grocery shopping. I got my haircut here last Tuesday. My hair isn't particularly hard to cut, just a buzz on the sides and trim to the front and back. My stylist was Michelle and she was friendly and engaged in small talk with me. When I got there, I originally had this rigid idea of how I wanted my hair cut, but I liked how she was creative and offered me advice about how she thinks my hair should be cut to look its best. Hey, she's the one who went to Cosmetology school. At the end I was happy with the result. This place is busy on the weekends, but you can call ahead (they don't take traditional reservations though) or use the Supercuts app and reserve your spot right before you get there or to get a sense of the wait. Also though the app if you sign up, you get occasional coupons. My haircut and my stylist get 5 stars, but I'm only giving this place 3 stars because of the price. Since this place is a popular franchise, I expected it to be relatively cheap. However, my haircut ended up being $18! For 15 minutes of time, I thought it to be on the high price range. My aunt also got her haircut cut here before and they cut her hair for only $5 and charged her the same thing. There are cheaper prices to get your haircut in Quincy and Chinatown. read more

I came in today hoping to get a decent haircut at a reasonable price. The cut is fine (nothing special), but when she proceeded to blow dry my hair she said it would be $40. I assumed that meant $40 total. NO!! That was in addition to the cut. With tip, I spent $72!! That's the same that I pay at normal salon. So much for trying to save money. I guess I will go back to my old salon - at least that is an hour long event with good conversation. Oh and the "hot towel refresher" that Supercuts keep advertising? Never happened. read more

Today I went to this Supercuts. I waited a bit, then when it was my turn, I noticed there was hair of different colors and length all over the floor and the chair- white hair, black hair, long hair, short hair. The stylist blew some of it away with the blow drier and asked me to sit. A big clump of long hair was still tangled to the armrest of the chair and plenty more was on the floor. I was reluctant, but I sat and said nothing. After seating, I noticed on the working area combs, scissors, and clippers resting on a towel, all covered with the many different kinds of hair from previous customers. Those were the tools that she intended to use on me. I asked if she was going to clean them, she said yes and proceeded to spray some product all over this mess of hair, pasting everything together. Then she asked "what length?" For the first time in my life, I ran away from a barber's shop. This place is an absolute shame; this is disgusting and unsanitary. Typically, I'm not too concerned about these things, but this was off the scale. I've never seen anything similar and will never set foot in there again. read more

I have been going to this Supercuts for a couple of years and it is all because of Jenny. She consistently gives me really good haircuts, and really listens to any adjustments I would like her to make. I want to add that the rest of the staff (when I am there) are professional, attentive, and skilled. For the other clients, it's not my hair so I cannot attest to the specific haircut, but when I am there the other stylists seem to be on point, much in the way Jenny is. I've been going to this location for a few months now. I've yet to have a bad experience there. All the stylists I've had have been phenomenal and very social. I like the fact that it's a chill atmosphere but also doesn't take up an hour of your day. I had Joan today who works as a supervisor. She went above and beyond with my haircut and it turned out even better than I wanted it. I HIGHLY recommend this location. The prices are $18 for a haircut which doesn't bother me because I'm not a cheapo. If you're a decent human being and don't mind speaking $$ to look great this place is right for you! read more

This place is TERRIBLE! No matter how desperate you are to get a haircut do not come here. I got a trim and asked for long layers. Walking in on a wednesday afternoon there was only one other person, as soon as I walked in a Asian lady with long hair approached me (didn't tell me her name) and never even said hello, I told here I was checked in and she said nothing else. When she seated me she hadn't even bothered to clean up the hair from the previous client! A cape was then draped over me in a rushed manner and tied too tightly. She seemed angry the whole time and showed no politeness. It seemed that she was rushed to do something else and even when asking what I wanted was rude. While cutting my hair she kept pushing my head around instead of asking me. When she asked me how it looked I asked if she could use the thinning shears to thin out my hair and she looked down and mumbled "agh you want to thin" and took the shears took 3 pieces of random hair and chopped not caring if it looked good. After rushed minutes of chopping my hair without even brushing it she took of the cape and said all done. I was left covered in little pieces of my hair all over the place. She didn't even have the decency to blow off the cut off pieces of my hair. After going into the car I returned to the store asking if she could blow off some of the pieces of hair and she never even said anything hurried me back to the chair and took the blow dryer for 10 seconds and said good. The final look you may ask, looked as you think it would not great but fine. Once my hair began to dry off both my sister and I noticed that there were 2 strands of hair longer than the others. For 20 dollars I wouldn't return to be treated this way. After being here once there is no chance that I would get my haircut here ever again and you shouldn't either! read more

I was super disappointed with my experience or lack there of. I called a few days before Christmas (dedham) and explained that I have a physically disabled mother and I was hoping to have a wash,cut, and color done. I went on to explain that it's difficult to get her out of the house but I wanted to do something special for her this Christmas. (To be honest I worry this maybe my last Christmas with my mother and I wanted to take some nice family photos, which is why I specifically asked about bringing her in Christmas Eve so her hair would be fresh for the next day) The women on the phone was very nice and explained their process and what I could do to insure she get an appointment Christmas Eve as they anticipated being very busy. Per the instructions I called right at opening Christmas Eve. First red flag was it took several calls over almost 20 minutes to get someone to answer. The women who answered the phone immediately seemed annoyed and I was definitely put off, but being that I was trying to do something nice for my mom I went ahead and told her I was looking to put in a call ahead and started telling the person (Jenna) what I was looking to have done. Immediately she cut me off and said that they were not doing any colors because they were far to busy. I tried to explain to her my mother situation and how I had called earlier in the week but she just continued to cut me off and tell me no. I was very put off but proceeded to make the appointment for just a cut and wash because apparently that is the only thing she was willing to do that day. She also never even gave me an option of a time rather told me what time I could go in. I then called over to the west roxbury store in hopes they may be more considerate of my situation. Well that was not the case. When I called I began to speak with who i believe was the salon manager and started telling her I had just called dedham and I have a physically disabled mother who I was hoping to have her hair done. I told her I was hoping to have a wash,cut, and a one process color on very short hair. Immediately she cut me off and was very condescending. She kept calling me baby and would not let me get a word in. I finally had to raise my voice over hers and asked her if she was unwilling to do the service. She gave me the same excuse dedham did and said they were far too busy and they didn't have the time. After the call I was very disheartened. I had to call my mother and explain the situation to her. My mother was so uncomfortable that she asked that I not take her at all (anywhere) to get her hair done. That broke my heart. It takes a lot (both physically and mentally) for my mother to get out of the house and go into public. I understand that Christmas Eve is a very busy time and I can only imagine like many other industries they may be short staffed. But to deny someone a service simply because you don't want to do it on a busy day is ridiculous. read more

I just want to say my son has loved going there ! The women that have cut his hair really did an amazing job they are very kind and really amazing at helping to style him ! They really listen to what he has to say! He has come home and raved about how much he enjoys Supercuts . He has me going as well and the young lady that cut my hair really did an amazing job . When she told me she was leaving to move closer to her house I was sad because she was amazing but she told me about the manager who cuts hair the same way as she does. This location has gone down hill since the old manager left. We've had several times where appointments were booked only to have staff call and say they could not keep the appointment and to schedule for another day. I've tried calling and been told they have "situations going on" and call back in a few hours to book something. Not even trying to provide any type of customer service anymore. read more

Most chain barbershops/salons should rate one or two stars - I'm sorry, but that's just been my experience with them. Generally, if I'm in a hurry and have to visit one I end up getting my cut repaired a few days later by someone who knows what they're doing. However...when it's been late at night and I can't find Larry to give me a quick chop I've usually found my way over to this Supercuts...and it's always been a pleasant surprise. Example...the other night I went in nearly at closing. I was the only customer there but they easily could have given me a quick cut and sent me on my way. No. I was shown a generous amount of time, care and attention by people who are barely paid enough to offer those things. That isn't the first time I've been impressed by the service at this location, so I'll keep coming back. It's not too different from a lot of other Supercuts...it's loud, the interior is rather generic and there can sometimes be a wait later in the day or at lunch. However...the staff and the service they offer make this better than most of Supercuts other locations. Nice work. read more

If you're looking for an all day affair with a big price tag, this is not the place for you. I like Supercuts because they're fast and they don't charge an arm and a leg like some other places in West Roxbury. It's also very clean. Just like any other salon, there will be stylists you like and ones you don't. Karen is totally awesome. She takes her time and goes out of her way to make sure you feel comfortable. I've had my hair cut by two other stylists and was happy with the result as well. The only reason that I can't give five stars is the fact that they don't do appointments. read more

My family has been coming to this Supercuts for YEARS. Always amazing service. I even came here when I dyed my hair blue and couldn't get the color out. I spent one night and then the a good chunk of time the next day fixing my hair. Leaving the salon my hair felt amazing and was no longer cotton candy blue. My 11-year-old son got his haircut here today and we had a terrible experience. Our stylist didn't pay attention to what he requested at all. He went in with a shaggy hair style, with his hair about 3 inches long all the way around. He asked to have it cut shorter on the sides and left longer on top. We talked about what size buzzer to use (the longest one) and she agreed. She started by cutting the sides and back with a buzzer. Before he could say anything, she continued cutting the top of his hair resulting in a pretty much a buzz cut all the way around. The hair was much shorter than he wanted and she completely ignored his request to leave it longer on top. It truly seemed that she just forgot what she was doing and didn't care enough to take her time to honor his requests. In the words of my 11-year-old son: Roses are red Violets are blue Wouldn't go here, If I were you. Snip, snip, cut, cut, Hair on the floor, Take those weak skills, Right out the door. Buzz, buzz, buzz, Now my hair is gone, And so is our business, At this horrible salon. A kid's hair counts, Shoulda taken your time, Too bad for you, Not tippin' a dime. read more

Just wanted to stop by and put my horrible experience back at the top of this gross establishment. I was recently thinking about my nephew who's dad is now across the world serving his country. How torturous his experience was here with Marianna. I look back and never ever ever was this resolved. I look at other 1 star review and I was never reached out too or called to receive an apology. The review below me had pretty much a similar experience with a young boy and she got an apology message. Actually many 1 star reviews have received apology messages but not I. Now I have to wonder is it because I'm a minority, my last name is a Asian last name. Are they not only terrible with children and customer service and now racist to Asian Americans who have suffered so much this past year? I will stand up for my kind and my dear innocent nephew and until this is resolved I will continue posting my updates until I feel fit. read more

Since the Dedham location has become a "train wreck" of poor organization and crappy attitudes, we came to the West Roxbury location today, and had a great customer experience. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED IN DEDHAM AND MY SUBSEQUENT REVIEW: What has happened to this place?! They used to have the most friendly and pleasant staff, and then over the last 2 months it's a group of grouchy and unprofessional stylists. Made a reservation today and when we arrived, the place was packed with one stylist that didn't even look up and say hello, or give us a status on the situation. Finally, another stylist came in, but because she was late, she was now taking her 2:30 pm reservation--it was 4:30 pm when she came in. When I asked for a status on things on how the reservation system was working, the only response I received was: "I'm late today, and need to take my 2:30 pm. It was as at this point we walked out and went to the West Roxbury location. IN CONTRAST, HERE'S HOW WE WERE TREATED AT SUPERCUTS WEST ROXBURY LOCATION: We were politely greeted when we walked in. The place was busy, so one stylist took my son within minutes and then another came out from the back to serve me. We were in and out in 40 minutes and they saw 3 other customers in the same time span. Such a contrast between 2 Supercuts locations. * I've been going to Supercuts for years, both in Los Angeles and now here--in total, approximately 30 haircuts in that time. Today's treatment at the Dedham location was by far the worst. Hopefully management cleans things up, in the meantime, we'll now be going to the West Roxbury location. read more

Took my son to get his haircut for his father's engagement photo shoot tomorrow. Told the girl short on sides and long on top, the look he always goes for and which is easy to see. She basically cut it all one length and did not even out the sides. My son is devastated as his hair is a huge part of his self confidence and is now embarrassed to be in the photo shoot. This was my first Supercuts and apparently it is where students in beauty school get to experiment on live subjects in the pursuit of their craft. The barbers are mainly women, a few have kids. When you walk in, you'll notice that although there are 5 or so open seats and a few people waiting on the couches, there is only about 2 barbers there. When you get called, they don't rush your cut, which is good. The quality is inconsistent though, and they miss a few spots and you can spot their mistakes when you get home. I mostly cut my own hair - the amount that barbershops charge for the simplest haircut is way too much. The place is clean with a powdery smell. read more

I had a really positive experience at the West Roxbury location. I was a walk-in and was asked to wait for about 10 minutes until a chair opened up. After about ten minutes I was greeted by Marianna who asked me what I would like done to my hair. I told her that I would like long layers and some shorter ones in the front, essentially mimicking hers. Before she cut took much off she checked the length with me to make sure I was comfortable. She took her time and was very precise with the cut. She was very focused the entire time and was incredibly friendly. I would absolutely go back and get another cut from her. I have grown accustomed to expensive cuts from high-end salons but it was nice to get a similar cut from someone who took pride in their work and not feel the hole in my purse at the end. read more
