Tammy, the manager was supposed to cut my hair and she claimed to be a professional for 20 years. I am a female and I asked for a simple haircut to cut my hair straight on the back . I showed her pictures and very many examples. Still did not understand and did not communicate with me instead interrupt me while I was explaining my hair style from my old photos. She insisted on not cutting my hair after being very simple with her, and she had called my boyfriend over to try to communicate with her to try to understand the haircut. My boyfriend did not understand why she could not do the simple haircut, as we had scheduled appointments and was not a matter of time. I felt dehumanized after this experience because she cut my boyfriends haircut perfectly fine, but as soon as I went to ask for a simple strait haircut (for a female); it seemed like she did not want to listen, and interrupted both me and my boyfriend. Ever since I've lived in the sunset area I've gotten my haircut at this Supercuts, and every time I've gotten a haircut here they've done a great job. I usually have the same Asian woman cut my hair, and although I can't understand a word she is saying to me, she is super nice and always cuts my hair the perfect length. For some reason they always gel my hair up in some strange way before I leave, which I still can't figure out but I always wash my hair out when I get home anyways so it doesn't matter to me....it's a fun little game to see how they'll fix it up each time. I used to always go here and deal with the bad haircuts, until I heard about Victor. So I went and tried him out. And he was pretty good...not super amazing but I ended with a very decent cut for only 15$. Otherwise, this place isn't very good - the stylists are usually bad and don't listen to what you're asking for. It does deserve 3 stars though, since its very clean and has friendly employees. But I'm warning you right now, if you don't go to Victor you might regret coming here at all. read more

Avoid Asian woman with dyed hair at all costs. I am pretty easy going when it comes to hair cuts since my hair is naturally straight and simple to cut. I've been to many supercuts locations and tried a bunch of different stylists and for the most part, been pretty happy with all of the haircuts I've gotten. Today I stopped by this supercuts and was helped by the Asian woman with dyed hair (I really wish I had asked for her name). All I asked was for a simple 1.5 inches cut off, no layers, nothing. She pretty much just started cutting my hair, didn't care how it was parted, didn't make any effort to segment off different pieces. What I ended up with was a completely uneven head of hair. I asked her to show me the back and she proceeded to turn the chair around, didn't bother to comb my hair so I could look to see if it was even so I had to tell her to comb it and of course what it revealed was a completely uneven cut. I then checked out the front of the cut and found that was uneven too. At one point I just asked her for the scissors so I fix it myself since it was pretty evident she had no idea what she was doing... Anyways, goes without saying I'll never be back at this location again. read more

Singularly, one of the poorest hair cuts in recent memory. As her client, the stylist/woman had no interest in me, whatsoever, and couldn't care less about the outcome. The shop had only two customers. She interrupted my styling to answer the phone and as I left stopped midstream during payment to introduce herself to another incoming client and didn't give me my receipt as requested. I don't think she spent more than 12 minutes on my cut. My hair is full, but exceptionally fine, straight, and delicate. I made it clear that I don't like a military cut. I maintain my hair with it growing slightly over the top of my ears and sculptured down the back following the nape of my neck and cut straight across at the base of my skull. I brush it to the sides or back: your "Hardy Boys" style of cut. When I questioned how little hair she had cut, she gave me some shuck and jive that "Wet hair is longer than dry hair." What jaw flap bunk and nonsense. The work was quick and showed no measure of attention to detail. Moreover, she was the supervisor/manager. After this rush job and a $24 bill, I felt even more insulted with her attempt at an up-sale for a $22 can of Paul Mitchell mousse. The sad part: my last experience here was good and another stylist was courteous, attentive, and thorough. I didn't get my senior discount, either. Go somewhere else! read more

It was a good haircut but I was not able to get victor because everyone is lined up to get him. The lady who cut my hair was good too. But it cost me $21. Not sure if that's cheap or expensive for the average person but for myself it was a bit pricy. Overall a good haircut though. read more

All I wanted was a simple bang trim and I decided to go here although I do not know why I did in the first place. A rude asian lady cut my bangs while expressing how unruly my hair was. For her information, it's not unruly--it's curly. After she cut my bangs, and not to mention, they were uneven, she didn't even bother to blowdry or style them. She simply left them the way they were, wet and out of whack. I have also had my bangs trimmed for cheaper and with better service/quality elsewhere. I did not tip her and I do not plan on ever coming back here. Don't do it. read more

Ok I'm sure Victor is great but I 've never worked with him. I have worked with Wendy and Casey however. Although Casey no longer works at this location they are both great. They are defintely both worth seeing. The style that they can perform is wonderful and for the price it is unbeatable. Wendy makes sure to ask you questions and wants you to like the style that she is giving you. First question she gives is "What are we doing today?" Of course with me its always something at least slightly different, which she expects LMAO. She really listens and makes sure she is making the style what you want and expect (unless you want her to do her own thing which would be great too, I'm sure!) but also adds in some of her own knowledge about haircuts and how they will grow out which is really nice. Overall, this place is great to go if you want a good haircut at an excellent price! I get compiments all day about my haircut! Know what you want and you'll be good! read more

Walked in, and immediately felt like an inconvenience because they were short handed that morning. After a two hour wait, I finally got in the chair. It was the manager who was cutting my hair and she said " Number 4 right" and proceeded to buzz my head. Would have been nice if she had even asked me how I wanted my hair. Honestly, I felt like an animal being sheered recklessly and without a caring hand. She took about three minutes and rushed me out of the chair and said "that will be $19.50." Felt a bit sorry for her, so I gave over a 30% tip. Got home, and my son was amazed to see the back of my head was very uneven. I drove back and showed her, she didn't show any empathy at all and directed me to the chair. She attempted to fix the issue however, the whole cut looked bad. On the way out she did say "sorry, thanks for coming back." Too little too late, for the overpriced inconvenience. By far, the worst haircut and the most awkward experience I have ever had in the chair. My family and I will not be back. Some youngish blond girl cut my hair and did a swell job. She gave me a "Tea Tree Experience" while washing my hairworth at least $5 in my opinion but was only $1 which was right up my alley. Scalpmassages are bomb. They are so pervy and goosebumpy. Props to her cuz my hair is like super long and tangley so I tipped well. My hair has been soft, manageable and way less tangley, she did a way better job than my usual $8 Great Clip or my $0 cutting my own hair after a shower. read more

All of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, but my heart belongs to Victor! I can't tell you how many years ago that my mother-in-law referred me to him and I will not go to anyone else but him. I want to keep him a secret, but I can't be selfish, so if you want someone that cares more about others than himself and does amazing things with a pair of scissors, Victor is your guy. He does have a big following so be patient and you will always be glad you waited, he's worth it. read more

I used to come here all the time because it was the cheapest place to get a haircut in the city by muni. Lately the service has been crappy. They only have one person working. Yesterday I went in, there were 5 people in line, 1 person working and a lady was doing her own hair. I don't know why she was, maybe the guy asked her to save time or he screwed it up, but then she paid and left. For the times that Wendy wasn't available, Tina did a good job as well, although I'm not sure whether she's still there or not. Tammy is great, she cut my hair lots of times and always does an excellent job. I've been to this place a few times in the past and one time I was happy with the cut. I'm not to picky about my hair and this place is very convenient for me, so I kept coming back. Today was the final time I swear. I went in with nobody waiting and was told it would be a few minutes, fine. They wouldn't get off the phone! So this is a review for the second time I went here. The first time was pretty bad too, but I thought I would give a different stylist another try. I am a white girl with simple long brown straight-as-a-pin hair and straight bangs, no layers, no nothing, just long and straight. I went in for a trim and told the stylist to just take an inch off the bottom all the way around and trim my bangs up to my eyebrows, super simple right? Wrong, after trimming my hair I noticed that the right side was shorter so I asked her to trim it evenly. She then wet down the right side again to trim it SHORTER! I stopped her and just thought I would fix it myself when I got home, this woman was obviously incompetent. I then asked her to even out my bang trim as well and she went on to explain that I had a cowlick on the right side, hence the reason it was shorter . . . well duh . . . that's why the left needs to be trimmed like an 1/8th of an inch shorter to compensate. In all I don't know how or with what stylist people are giving this place 4 and 5 stars, but I've had two women stylists here and they both sucked. Maybe they are great at men's cuts??? But if your a chick and want a super simple cut . . . DO NOT GO HERE. Trust me it's not worth it, pay to go to a salon where they at least know how to cut straight. read more

I had a lovely experience here recently (chain salon aside.) Operating on very limited income for the past few months, I was long overdue for a haircut. I live in the Outer Sunset and was poking around Yelp for reasonable and nearby salons. The review I read that included accolades for "Victor," one of the stylists, proved well founded. I called Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised when he answered the phone. He offered me a 1 p.m. appointment and off I went. From the moment I sat in the chair, I felt at ease. He asked me what I looking for and I explained that, because of illness, my thinning hair was of great concern. He was understanding, gentle and gave me reassuring advice about my hair. I got a nice shape up cut and will most definitely be going back to him on a regular basis. NOTE: Don't know why it's labeled as "Men's Hair Salons" as they service women, men and children. read more
