Hair. Most of us have it. Most of us care what it looks like. Why? It is the first thing people notice during a first impression. This is why I think that so many of the reviews for this Supercuts location toggle between 5 star and 1 star reviews. We care about our hair and are either happy or upset when we get a cut. So, is this location really a 5 star or 1 star location (or somewhere in-between)? To start off: This is a very clean Supercuts location. It has a waiting room, computer monitor with prices and ads (with some other things intercut into it). It has a nice selection of hair products too. This location has plenty of parking too -- and is located in a shopping center with a coffee shop, nail salon and several restaurants. THAT SAID: A salon or barbershop is only as good as the talent employed there. My experience has (mostly) been pleasant. I've had some great haircuts here. I've also had one or two haircuts that were so bad that I needed to wear a hat for a few days before finding someone to fix it (which is weird -- because I'm not that particularly concerned with my hair). For the most part, I've had mostly good experiences. The bad cuts that I've had were for times when I had someone "new" cut my hair. That is always a risky venture. Once, I had someone taper the back of my hairline so high that it was above my ears. As bad as a few experiences have been, MOST trips to this Supercuts location have been fairly good experiences. I'm usually content with my haircuts here. Don't go to Supercuts expecting a $500 hair grooming experience. However, every once in a while, I feel like I've had such an experience at this location. A few times, I felt like I was owed money after a bad experience (*see aforementioned back-of-the-head hairline positioned half-way up my ears). Most of the time, however, I feel like I get exactly or a little more than what I've paid for. However, that is a good thing in a world where some salons aren't quite so sanitary, clean or, of course, expedient. If you're in this area, try it out. If you find a good cosmetologist here, I recommend that you stick with her/him. There are quite a few VERY talented individuals. They have successfully counter-balanced any of the very few bad experiences that I've had. read more

I brought my daughter to have a haircut today but the hair was barely trimmed then the lady said it is done . We expressed our request to get it cut more and thinner and she said she would not do it and then charged me over $30. We feel like it is not cut at all and it ended up we need to go to another salon to cut it again . read more

Well my visit here was welcomed and short since I had a appointment prior to my arrival. The barber (didn't catch her name) asked me what I want and I explained to her "bald fade, keep the top." Instead I received a zero on the sides and luckily my top was not cut. For the price we pay now for cuts, you would think the barber would ensure the cut is exact to the customers request. I would maybe go back in the future. Establishment was clean and mask friendly. Staffing was nice and polite hence my reasoning for the 3 star rating. I would recommend making appointment to before arriving. Just never know if they get super busy etc. read more

After having my hair styled by expensive salons in the Mountain View/Los Altos area, I needed to make a change to a more reasonably priced option. This Supercuts location was the solution. Kieu has been cutting my hair for the past couple of years, and I've been getting compliments from friends and family ever since; Consistent, listens to what I'm looking for as far as length, and very clear in explaining some options. Yes yes, let the mocking begin... I'm cheap and I went to Supercuts. I am very low maintenance when it comes to hairstyles, so a trim is a trim is a trim. And yes, they did a fine job with the trim. However... They also do eyebrow waxing. I decided, hey, why not, I'm there and had some time to kill, let's get the ol' eyebrows waxed. And yes, it hurt - it always does. But it turns out I got burned, quite literally. Big ol' red slash below my eyebrow with some red tiny blisters now too. Very sexy, let me tell you. Looks like one of the swipes with the wax was too darned hot. I called the manager yesterday and she was apologetic but there's not really anything they can do at this point. I'd probably go back from a trim because they can't muck that up, but I won't be letting them get near me with hot wax again. read more

One of the better Supercuts. I go here from time to time for a cheap trim. I don't know her name but she's a Vietnamese lady and did a great job keeping my hair long but chopping off enough to get rid of my split ends. I was happy with her cut. I don't ever feel pressure here to buy anything which is nice. Also plenty of parking. Wait is never more than 10 min on weekends. read more

I used to love this place, and I was in need of a haircut. I have shoulder length hair and i decided I wanted a bob. I went to this location, and the lady had no idea what she was doing. I asked her for a bob, from the catalogue selection, and she cut off half an inch and told me that i was done. I then repeatedly asked her for the bob where she proceeded to cut off one inch. She asked me if i wanted it chopped off. She had no idea what she was doing. My mom had to ask the assistant manager to keep an eye on what she was doing. This was the worst haircut ever, and she charged me 30 for a trim. I will not be back at the end the assistant manager ended up finishing my haircut. To make it up the assistant manager ended up giving us both coupons. I will not be back. sorry to say but you lost two customers. read more

I went here yesterday and I wanted more than a standard haircut, I wanted a jet-black coloring job. The stylist who took care of me, Sarene, had over 20 years of hair styling experience, said it wouldn't be a problem. Turns out, she knew exactly what she was doing. Because I'm just reaching the age when my hairline is starting to recede a bit at the temples, she cut it in exactly the best way to maximize the look of my hair and was careful with applying the right solutions in the right proportions to keep the dye in my hair and off my skin. She was sweet the whole time and did a lot of little things to assure my comfort, saying nice things like how good it was to be pampered, complimenting my looks, and giving me a scalp massage during pre-treatment and another when the color rinsed out, and the "tea tree" treatment which helped lock in the color. She also recommended an excellent product to keep my colored hair healthy afterward, and I'm very pleased with her work and look forward to going back for a touch-up and future treatments. The whole process took about 1.5 hours and was reasonably priced at $45 for the color job plus $10 for the tea tree treatment. I made sure to tip her generously for her work, because she totally deserved it! This place does take appointments, so if you're planning on a great cut, style, or color, I would call and ask specifically for Sarene's service. And if you're a member of AAA, don't forget to bring in your card to get a 20% discount on everything, services and products alike, something you will need to ask for as they don't tell you about it up front. They also have a "cut card" where you get stamped every time you come in and your 13th cut is free. But again, you will need to ask for it, or ask them to stamp it if you've already got one. read more

I am a bit surprised by the reviews, because personally I think this store has great stylists and the manager is wonderful. In fact I have gone there 10+ times and have received an excellent haircut every time. The wait time is never particularly long and every one is pleasant and professional. Good enough when you are super "in short of time"...gave this place a shot with my hubby...we had a same day event to attend. The hair dresser was quick and trimmed my hair well. It was good enough for the event, just don't look too hard for the flaws. Following day, after washing, and blow drying, my hair was a little uneven. Styling it made it less obvious. read more

Ok, first I should preface. I am a female, and I don't really believe in spending a ton of money on haircuts. I usually get mine layered or straight below my collarbone and I probably go for a haircut once a year. I don't even come for trimmings. Usually they just chop off about 3 inches. I have been very satisfied with this place. I started coming during their grand opening and I have been back since at least 4 times. The staff has turned over a lot. I am not quite sure why. When you come, I think you can make an appointment, but I always drop by. Usually there are about 2 people ahead of me, but I come on weekends, which is probably their busiest time. I usually get the standard haircut, no bangs or anything and no shampoo. I have never left unhappy. In fact, they always double check with me to make sure they are doing what I want. The staff is pretty professional and always curteous. And the price is fantastic (about $20 including my tip). I have never had the waxing or the color, so I cannot comment on those, but if you are very low maintenance, you might want to give this place a shot. read more

The people here are very friendly and do a great job at making sure my little one gets a nice haircut and they do it really quick before he starts to get fidgety. We are in and out in 15 mins. I get a no frills hair cut and try to be very specific about what I want and 80% of the time I am pretty happy with my cut. It is the times when I am feeling lazy and don't really care that my head gets askew. For the price and convenience, I am really happy with this location and expect what I pay for when I take the time to explain what I want. My friends and I have been coming here for budget-friendly cuts for over a year. For a trim or simple cut, you can't beat the value for your dollar. Recently, I've had my hair cut by Stephanie twice. She not only gave me great-looking layers, she also has a very pleasant and chill presence. I appreciated her double checking the trim length with me in the mirror and asking how I liked my hair throughout and so on. My hair is tricky because it's damaged and hard to work with. After coming here for over 10 years and having decent but inconsistent hair cuts, the last cut broke the camel's back. I asked for a scissor cut and then she bluntly says, "I'll use the trimmer and a comb" and then proceeds to lop off a bunch of hair. I'm not sure why she asked me how I normally get it cut if she couldn't care less. In the end, I'm almost 49 years old and I came home with a frickin mullet. I am resolute that I will never go back to this Supercuts and probably never to any Supercut again. The bad haircut is one thing, but to be disrespected and to have bad service is enough. Been going to Supercuts for many years, I know their haircuts are pretty much standard, but am not into anything fancy or expensive, and 95% of the time am satisfied. This location has a stylist, Sarene, who is very experienced in the industry. She goes out of her way to make me satisfied for each of the 3 excellent haircuts have gotten from her. I get the camouflage grey-hiding coloring each time, after transferring from another Supercuts, we went over the options and she figured the exact coloring the other shop did, the first time she colored my hair. Thank you Crystal! Don't leave without having "the tea tree experience". My stylist Crystal was kind enough to suggest this amazing addition to the standard shampoo. Tingly tea tree shampoo along with a hypnotically relaxing scalp massage, finished off with a steaming towel face wrap and I felt like floating! I wish I could have one every day, like getting a spa treatment at SUPERCUTS. Of course the haircut was perfect too, she took care to be sure I had exactly what I wanted done and that I was happy before I left. I will definitely be back! read more

Horrible customer service the hours are until 8. I came in at 7:50 with an emergency I son cut a big chunk of his hair off. I walked in and asked if they were closed the two girls said no so I said can I just quick cut for my son since he had school tomorrow and after say no they are getting ready to close and went on with the conversation they were having. I can't review any of the other staff members because Oralia did such a good job on my hair the first time I went to this Supercuts after it opened that I never wanted to try anyone else. I'm clearly not the only one that feels that way because Oralia usually has a waiting list that starts as soon as the store opens in the morning. Don't worry - you don't have to go down there and sit in the lobby reading magazines all day. You can call ahead and ask for Oralia's schedule; they will reserve your time slot for you over the phone! I've tried other stylists at other Supercuts locations and even at higher priced salons... believe me, you'll always get quality and consistency from Oralia and you'll be like me - calling in for an appointment every few weeks for years to come. read more

Pretty bad service. Haircut took almost twice as long as they usually did at the old Supercuts Palo Alto which I miss and the lady helping me never said a full sentence to me which made it very hard to communicate what i wanted. A haircut is a detailed thing and anyone giving one should be able to communicate more clearly than with a "this ok?" and a gesture. The lady cutting my hair had to get this other hair cutter to come finish off my haircut. I didn't ask for anything complicated or unusual! Shouldn't they be trained in a school on this not in a retail shop? Miss the Palo Alto location people there were always at least workable and they usually made sure they were clear on what I wanted . read more

I was at Supercuts in Mountain View twice since we moved to the bay. I have long hair and normally go for highlights and a trim. The first time I was there I asked for blond highlights and got platinum highlights. Also, I had a platinum round spot on the top of my head, I guess the foil was off-centered there. Last but not least, the highlights where so thin I could barely see them even though I asked to cover up the areas where my natural hair color showed already. So, all in all ... the experience was not the best for paying $90. Because I always wait to the last minute where I can't stand my hair any more, I gave them another shot today. It was the only salon in the area where I knew price-wise what to expect. Had another hair-dresser today and it actually turned out very nice. I got nice honey highlights and a great trim. read more

I'm not very fussy about my hair - short and neat is the order of the day. But ... ughs - they let me out with a haircut that seemed like a bowl was put over my head. I was hesitant to try SuperCuts as it took me a long time to grow my hair down to my back. Luckily, the person who cut my hair, her name was KIM. She did an amazing job, taking her time and measuring everything. Even as more customers poured in, she didn't rush to cut my hair like the other stylists did. The other women there, went through 3 customers while Kim was still working on my hair. I love my hair. I recommend you cut your hair with KIM and no one else. read more

I went to this supercuts once and had a terrible haircut. I complained to Supercuts and they were great around giving me a voucher for a new haircut. I went again to this same location and again had an awful experience. I normally get a buzz cut. Somehow each time I get this simple cut here, they miss 40% of the hairs on my head and make it look terrible. My regular supercuts in Campbell does an excellent job. Not sure why this particular store is consistently bad. read more

I went in for only a trim and decided later that we should just hack my hair for summer; she made great recommendation on what would look best with my shape of my face. I was in desperate need of a trim, as I was several months in to growing out a super short pixie cut. Realizing this, I scoured yelp for a good place to go which offered walk-in cuts. Supercuts delivered! My stylist was Emma. She made my in-between hair look normal again, and so much more stylish. She checked with me throughout the process, and made sure I was happy with the look. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon, and there was no wait. I was impressed with the cleanliness of this location. I didn't feel like the stylist was rushed while working on my hair. Went in a few months back; had pre-scheduled an appt. on their app, and everything was going OK until the cut was done and I decided after review that I needed more cut off. The stylist was a bit perturbed and kept saying over and over 'OK, so you're changing what you originally told me'....I tried to ignore her as it was obvious she was trying to guilt me out of changing my mind. She then said if she was to have to start all over, she'd have to charge me for another haircut, and then pointed to the people waiting and mentioned that they'd all have to wait longer now too (definite guilt trip)! I said forget it, paid and left. I have NEVER had a stylist or salon do this to me before - what's the point of having you check your haircut afterwards with two different mirrors and ask you if it's OK if clearly the idea is that they don't want to hear anything but 'yes'?!
