My 91 yr old mother had a rapid decline in hospital and opted to be placed on Hospice and die at…read morehome. I was given Tami's name with high praise from Lori at Truewood (my mother's place of residence) Everything was clearly explained to Tami regarding my mother's 24-hr care requirements until her death. All seemed in order and they met us at her home when the ambulance transported her there. Not until then did I learn that the caregivers were NOT licensed and would not be able to administer meds or suction her airway as needed. I had to pay over $12,000 in advance for 14 days of care. The staff were more like companions than caregivers, asking to do laundry or cleaning but clearly unsure how to care for a dying patient. One didn't even turn her for over 6 hrs, her face wasn't washed, her teeth weren't brushed, and I read with much distress that my mother had woken confused in the night and asked for me repeatedly but I was never called or told, even though I had given instructions call me anytime. One caregiver was pretty good with care..she knew how to position my mother, she changed her clothes, gave her a bed bath, and even brushed her hair. Unfortunately, this was the same caregiver that was curled up like a cat on the sofa, shoes off, sound asleep in the middle of the morning and I was in the apartment for a full 15 minutes before she even woke up. The last morning was horrid. We arrived about 9am and the caregiver reported she had just repositioned my mother. When I walked into the room, I could tell from her color that she was gone. She had stopped breathing and the girl didn't even notice! I called hospice and dismissed her as she stood there with saucer eyes and asked me what I wanted her to do! I called Tami a few days later and told her that I felt the staff was unprepared to care for a dying patient. She immediately got defensive, told me that the staff was assigned according to experience and there should have been no issues. She then asked for a good review. The final straw...my mother died after only 5 days and so we were due a refund. She died on the 9th. We didn't receive the check until the 4th of the following month, made out in my DECEASED mother's name and sent to the wrong address. If they had been honest about their limitations, I would never have hired them. We had other options that I would have taken. I cannot honestly recommend this company unless all you need is companion services and/or your loved one is able to speak for themselves.

Disgusting, inappropriate, and plain terrible in the way they communicate with their caregivers. In such a rude, condescending tone. 2) Alegre practices unsafe, life threatening to their employees, by NOT PROVIDING ANY PPE EQUIPMENT as a precaution. especially all the caregivers who are exposed to bloodborne pathogens. 3) I feel really bad for the clients who are missing out on quality, reliable caregiving services. They're an aging generation WHO DESERVE BETTER! But they dont, all because the Supervisor's (Jane Southrn) can't seem to get the scheduling done right. It's all completely based on favoritism and nepotism. 4) Alegre will set up their caregivers to fail intentionally. They are flexible and communicative and in our experience have really demonstrated they care about you and your family. The two caregivers (working different shifts) they have assigned for our parents (93 and 94 yrs.) help manage their medications, remind them of and make sure they are ready for appointments and when we could not make it, they took them to their appointments. They help our mom remember her grooming activities, provide companionship and plan and prepare tasty meals that my parents enjoy. While we could have gone the route of hiring an independent caregiver, we realized we didn't want to take on the due diligence involved with finding and hiring someone - the background checks, insurance, reference checks and possibly having to deal with taxes. Additionally since we don't live locally, if the independent caregiver called in sick, we'd be challenged with finding a fill in. So for us using a service provider was the right choice. Caregiver to You has been wonderful in ensuring the shift is staffed in the event one of our caregivers can't be there (which in the five months we've been using them has not been very often). We looked at a few services before deciding on Caregiver to You, but we liked their commitment to families and to their staff (happy and fairly compensated staff was important to us). We've been using Caregiver to You for almost 5 months and we are glad we chose them. They feel like an extension of our family and we feel at ease knowing they are there to support us!
